  1. Just wanted to say that having brought 2 dogs and a cat over with us from the UK when we moved, there is no way I would consider going through the paper work, blood tests, the quarantine, and the stress of making sure they were on the various flights ok etc. just for a holiday.
  2. Glad to hear Arnold was brighter this morning, and hope he has continued to improve through the day :)
  3. Get a blood test done. Without wishing to alarm you, this is how Louis was when he went down with IMHA in May. He just suddenly stopped eating and became very lethargic. Gastro was initially suspected but a blood test quickly showed something much more serious. Louis went from apparently fine on a Thursday evening to suspected gastro on Friday evening to almost losing him on the Monday. I wouldn't wait a few days. I hope Arnold does just have just a touch of gastro and soon picks up and stops worrying you :)
  4. Love the chicken tale :D but her face in the last shot you just posted - omg Poor baby
  5. Ha ha, love these :D Clockwork Sid and Frodo (in anything really) rock
  6. Just caught up again with Handsome Hank. He is growing fast and into the most gorgeous boy! Love your photos of him, they are capturing him beautifully :) That doggie pool is awesome :D
  7. Here you go :) I got the Chamomile/Sage one for Louis recently from this shop in Perth. http://shop.petloverscafe.com/dogs-health-and-medication?page=2
  8. Very interesting Lhok, thanks :) Noishe - They are odd aren't they! They maybe the Catalburun? http://caninespk.blogspot.com.au/2010/12/turkish-pointer.html or the Pachon Navarro? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachon_Navarro
  9. Yes, it's the constant foot-chewing until bleeding, that had us back at the vet recently. We had to resort to prednisolone (on top of antihistamines) to settle things down. I think with Daisy it's partly habit due to the crappy start she had in life, and partly allergies. Before we moved over here her foot chewing had almost stopped and it's been up and down since we've been here, but the past couple of months certainly seem to have been worse When Louis went down with his IMHA, my vet and I had a joke that it was because he was feeling left out as both the others were on pred - Daisy intermittently for her allergies, and Indy because she has allergic asthma and triaditis *rolleyes*
  10. I'm so snuffley today! Daisy has been worse with her foot chewing recently, so wonder if it's related. Thanks for the info :)
  11. Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that That really sucks
  12. I'll be watching his eyes like a hawk now kirty! :)
  13. Great news from the ophthalmologist, right eye pressure down from 50+ to 25, and left eye down to 19 from 25 :D So all looking good, continue with the drops and re-check in a month. We really dodged a bullet there and I am so grateful to my vet who picked it up
  14. Thanks trinabean :) heading off to the specialist in a couple of hours......
  15. Thanks Tassie, we're actually friends with our vet and she was round for lunch today and said it's not often they see glaucoma in dogs, they probably diagnose about one a year - sods law it had to be Louis
  16. Thanks Kirty, we're back to see him on tues so will ask about signs to watch out for etc. Yesterday's appointment was a pretty quick one as they were just open for emergencies, but he said he'd wait for us and see us too.
  17. So it seems poor Louis can't catch a break at the moment He's had a tough time after a diagnosis of IMHA at the end of May, but has been doing very well, responding to drugs and so far one of the lucky ones that make it through the early stages of this hateful disease. I took him to the vet today for his regular fortnightly blood test and they seemed to be taking longer than usual. The vet came back with him with a concerned look and asked if I'd noticed his eye. The white of his eye has been a bit red recently, but as there was no weeping or discharge I stupidly had put it down to a bit of an irritation that I was going to get them to check out today anyway. It turns out his pupils were dilated, particularly so in his right eye and not responding too well. She recommended I basically go straight to the eye specialist to check it out as she was very concerned. So it turns out he has primary glaucoma, not linked to his IMHA, but the specialist said it is known in his breed. His vision is ok at the moment, and the specialist said the long term prognosis is good. It's been caught early and he should keep most of his sight. He is now on two different eye drops, just to add to his current pile of daily drugs! I feel so bad at not having thought more about 'a bit of a red eye'. I can't say I had noticed his pupil size, our house isn't naturally bright inside and he has dark eyes, but just a warning I guess if you notice a red eye, get it checked out! I've had a bit of a google and it makes for depressing reading with regards to glaucoma and loss of vision, so at the moment I holding onto the positive prognosis from the specialist. Louis means the world to me, he's my little buddy boy and my heart dog - he's pulled through so well with the IMHA so far, and I just hate he now has this to contend with too
  18. gaznazdiak - so sorry for the loss of your little one I noticed this morning the sweet potato chews I got recently for my two are made in China too I think these will be going straight in the bin when I get home, especially as it looks like they are really easy to make at home. http://www.dogtreatkitchen.com/sweet-potato-dog-chew.html
