Runny Nose ,bleeds, more than allergy now
juice replied to juice's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks, i'm thinking the scope is the only way to go. The vet has prescribed a month of antibiotics and 10 days on pred x, but she is drinking alot, starving and acting really anxoius and won't settle ( all side effects of the pred) , and nose is still running, so going to call and see what exactly the pred is supposed to be doing. I'm also researching insurance for after this! -
There was an article i read recently by a brithish vet who said he had a family bring in their 5 month old frenchie and it was going to need 5 ops for things just to make it able to live a normal life ( eyeballs too big , palet, nose, and legs and something else), and he was seeing this weekly and its was heartbreaking. My kids want one, probably because they are all over social media, my son would love a BB, but there is no way i would take on such unhealthy breeds.

Thanks for that . Yes they said fungal infection , obstruction or tumour . My worry now is anastetic so close together . She is only 4 and has had 4 already ( 2 ceasers) , and 2 now with me in last 12 months . ( desexing and this one ) . Initially i was panicking as they are suggesting Sash for rhinoscope , and quoted min $3000 . But I have contacted another practice that does it way cheaper , except vet who performs it not back from holiday till feb. can they see fungal infections then or did they Swab further up using the scope ? Did the infection go ? -

Thanks for advice . She had a massive nose and mouth bleed and Mucas started coming from her nose after . So we have been in and out of vets and she had to go under as they thought she had an obstruction so did a flush , X Ray's , took bloods , and Mucas culture . Nothing came out and results were bacterial infection . So on antibiotics and steroids , but still got runny nose . Next step is Rhinoscopy . -
I thought the same , I saw one at $9000 on gumtree , but as they are a dime a dozen now I too wondered if they would have to drop the prices soon . Cheapest I have seen is $3500 . BB are the same , massive price tag .

Yes I saw him , but boxy faced from pic which isn't very good . Also a tiny wormy looking little brindle wolfie pup I'm tempted to take aswell !

will do, trying to find out more from ranger atm, but going to answerphone.

Imp 0003. Will see if I can get answer as to wether he has gone . Thanks heaps !

I rang the pound yesterday to find out more and he has one name on him , his previous owner . Ranger took my number as second in line . She called today while I was working and I called straight back but answer machine , then called again and other ranger said he would get her to call me . She didn't , so don't know if she is ringing to say he has gone or not . Will check his imp number , he is the grey coloured wolfie X grey . They were surprised I wad bothered as he was 8 .

Ok , didn't see the frenchies in my news . I assumed the cats were bait .

Whilst the RSPCA milk it for all its worth before they kill all the dogs . scumbag is clearly dog fighter not a puppy farmer .

Its 4 1/2 hours. I need more info on him before i even think of it , like is he any good with other dogs etc

Long shot, but i have seen a scruffy old stag at Glenfield road shelter in Wagga Wagga and really would love to take him but would need him checking out first. He has a skin issue which pound said was because he was riddled with fleas, and i need to see his reaction to other dogs and generally more of an idea about him before i even think of logistics of getting him to Sydney. If anyone is close by and could go take a squiz at him it would be great, his due date is up.

I second doing NILF . I think it's pinned somewhere . Firstly I would not let it on the furniture , it's not earned it . I think " fiesty " as the breeder put it might be an understatement .

i take mine to the petshop to be weighed every 2 weeks as i'm trying to get weight off and its hard to judge as she has a droopy tum from being a mum which i dont think will ever tuck back up. Goes off to try the feeling 2 ribs method!

Agree with get its health checked to make sure its not sore somewhere, muzzle if need be for a good look. Then get some help, make sure its someone who knows what they are talking about. For now, keep it off the furniture on the floor so you done have to pick it up or a child might nudge it and get bitten, put a lead on if need be to take out to toilet. And pics from where it came from can be decieving, it may have come from a kennel and was taken indoors for pics, makes it look better.

i looked at Bow Wow Meow and they are underwritten by Hollard too. will check the links.

yes, sorry, doggy health insurance. I'm reading reviews and its scary, it seems they can pay out as little as they like , UPTO 80% means nothing . And having a 4 year old dog that was used for breeding means they could refuse to pay out on alot of things.

I think there was a thread about this before ? If not I'd like opinions on insurance , never had it before but it seems the bills are getting higher and specialist referrals are way out of my league , so I'm wondering if it's something I should get . Any good companies to try ?

when i first started using it i did ask them questions and they did respond. my newest dog is the first to ever turn her nose up at it, so i just gave a teaspoon at a time to build it up, and now i can give two big tablespoonful dollops and she eats it. they recommend roo as its the leanest meat, i use it as im trying to get weight off mine, but i have used it with chicken mince on my old dogs aswell.
-
i would take the money, you don't want to be dealing with someone like this. perhaps if you say what breed it is someone can point you in the right direction of a good breeder.
-
i use it with roo. i dont give as much as they say though as mine get veggies too to bulk it out.coat is way better on it.

RSPCA Report- do you remember a litter euth'd for shyness?
juice replied to denali's topic in General Dog Discussion
i do remember this . weren't they cavs? i seem to think someone was fostering them and took them in to be assessed and they put them down without warning. -
He is lovely!! He maybe too big for me too, i have asked for a pic of him standing next to a person to gauge it. No idea how i would get him here either

About 6 weeks ago Zelda started to have a runny nose, like dripping a big globule from her nose in the mornings so i tried giving her a Zyrtec and within 12 hours it had gone away. I continued for a week, all was good, then stopped and the runny nose came back so i used it again. however she was like a zombie on it, just slept 24/7 so a few weeks ago i stopped it and she was fine until yesterday when i got up in the morning she had this big blob hanging fromn her nose and drops all around her bed . This morning is the same. I don't want her doped up on Zyrtec although it seems to work, is there something else that doesn't make them drowsy, or if i take her to the vet what are they likely to prescribe, steriods?
