According to the breeders vet the wormers are not working anymore . Never heard that before .

I think its a hard one. incubation period meant pup was sick before it arrived, was it flat before it left or not showing symptoms?, who knows, only the breeder. Should the vet have done more first time around? So sad.

I met a lady i have known for a while from dog walking in my suburb yesterday who i hadn't seen for months and she told me she bought a new pup, and only had it 6 days before it died of hookworm. She said the breeder said they had wormed it, the pup was transported interstate ( by friend of breeder),and was flat when it arrived which breeder said was probably the journey, however the lady took pup to vet when blood appeared in poop.She also wormed the pup herself again. Vet gave antibiotics, but she returned a few days later sensing something was really not right and asked vet to do a hookworm test, it was positive and pup died. The breeders vet called her and said that the strains were getting stronger and were becoming resistant to the wormers, has anyone else heard of this? she was in tears talking to me, heartbreaking for the family, and although the breeder reimbursed the cost of the pup, she was left with a $2000 vet bill as it all happened over xmas. She also said she wasn't very happy with the vet. yes, reg breeder of purebred pup before anyone asks.

I wanted to go to the Bull Terrier show next month and it's on for two days and it says running order for classes in numbers , but I can't find info to tell me what the numbers mean ?

If they don't want a purebred that doesn't shed ( no guarantee with a X it won't) , they are going to be sourcing them from less than genuine sources . Any that did make rescue would have come from the same source anyway that didn't sell. Why not tell them to get a well bred purebred that doesn't shed ? Any reason they don't want a pure poodle or malt ?

A lot of rescues won't adopt small breeds out to families with lots of little kids as they can be rough with them . There are plenty for sale on gumtree , they don't need rescue because they sell easily .

Although i dont believe the dog was trying to save the kid, he may well have done so in the commotion by the distraction he caused.

I wonder if that means it getting a dangerous dog tag and has to be on an enclosure ? I thought it sounded like he got over stimulated by it all . Only the boy can say . Poor kid , living with the knowledge his mum tried to kill him and guilt he made it and his brother didn't . I read there were 2 different dads to the boys ?

I have seen a lot of old dogs on gumtree lately . Last week there was a 17 year old kelpie X whose owners wanted to go travelling and had hoped it would have died by now and wanted it rehomed so they could go ! I have adopted a few oldies who ended up being too ill to be rehomed when I was s foster carer , I like oldies , but it would be nice to have s healthy easy dog !

I finally got a call from the specialist today after 2 weeks to touch base . He wants me to continue with the metacam a little longer and call him again in 2 weeks . she seems to have platoued with Mucas still there . Anyway I did say I was considering looking at alternatives and he said they were a waste of time and did nothing . I did see Russell lea and was considering them .

A cattle dog? smaller to hold but will defend you and people are very wary of them.

I've watched super vet remove fragments so many times like that , seems to work well .

They certainly can't harm her , and if normal meds are having no effect after so long I need to check out all the options .
