Another Joint Guard vote from me. I find it works really well on my 2 when they require it :)

I was caravaning a couple of years ago & ended up baby sitting "Maddison" a 2 year Pom for a lady that was rushed to hospital with heart trouble. Maddy was fretting a bit cause there was a fair bit of stress, mum was 'gone & there was an ambulance & sirens . I just down played everything & she remained some what calm. We had a midnight little walk on the first night to try & take the edge off. She did settle well. We got through, we just down played everything. Like 'ho,hum' I only cuddled her when she was almost asleep & really relaxed. Mum returned in 3 days all was good' :)

No I haven't tried them but I think Snook has also mentioned that. Thanks for the heads up PA. Will be looking into that. Well done at Agility last night by the way :) -
JulesP, Me too! I usually only cut one into thirds, take the seeds out & throw it in a plastis bag & cook it in microwave until soft. When it has cooled then I roughly take the skin off. Mash it with 3 cans of sardines. Done :) the things we do LOL.

Really good progress ! My dog was on a diet & mashed pumkin was my BF LOL. 3/4 cup premium dry food, 1 cup pumpkin. 2 pieces of can sardines & he has lost a fair amout & it has got him to his goal weight. Very happy /healthy campers here & the Vet even gave us the "¥a for the Day".

Thanks Tassie would like to read that article actually. As I say her little head works overtime, all the time, it must be so very tiring for her. This is one reason why I thought if I just get her to chill as I think when you are a highly strung it can become a habit like anything else to rush & constantly be on edge. So if I can teach her that it is OK to chill for a bit it may just break that cycle a bit. She has also started to offer this behaviour at the leash free after a swim which blew me away really because there is quite a few distractions there & that's where we did our first 9 min. effort. I was wrapped :) -
Oh yes, very sweet face persephone you are right. MsDani lovely photo of your favourite boy. Something to cherish there.

I was going to say the exact same thing stans mum. I know you love this puppy Donatella but this co ownership thing doesn't sound very fair to me & I wouldn't be entering into it at all.I am not an experienced breeder but you would be surprised how many "lovely little puppies" you could fall in love with with a lot less baggage than this one if you bide your time & keep looking. That's if you can't own him outright.

Yes Jules P rainy weather is great for reactive dogs & their owners  I can relax a little more & not be so 'on the alert' for approaching anythings. Also had to edit just a quick update on Stella. It's nothing major but I have been doing a bit of an exercise I just made up myself to try & help her relax a little. When we have finished a game of tugs or fetch & I know she she is a bit tired I have started asking her to lay down next to me & we "rest". I started off with her resting for 20 sec. & gradually increased the time & so far we are up to 9 min. This might not be very long to most people but this is a life time to a reactive/ 100 mile an hour girl. She just never stops as a rule, so I'm thrilled because I can see this actually becoming quite habit forming as she is doing this behaviour voluntarily now in different locations. I can see her body language change when she is lying next to me, she really relaxes & take a couple of deep breaths to begin with too. We practice this at the beach everyday now & also at home. Just trying to calm her down & maybe start to enjoy a relaxing rest. Just thought it can't hurt to try something like this. I think being a very high drive girl is one thing & I'm not expecting that to change terribly much as it is just her but if we can learn to relax more we may become more self assured & calm. Worth a try I thought & think it may be working already -
I nearly lost a BC puppy with a tick many years ago now when we were visiting my grand dad in Vincentia, which is on the south coast, past Nowra NSW. People used to say there were no ticks down there as it was too cold but we proved that theory very wrong. Tralee, I have noticed in some coastal areas ticks vary in colour slightly, was thinking maybe different habitat, I don't know. They do appear to become darker the more they engorge themselves as well.

I reckon he is saying,"Well fill it up mum" I bet he is very cheeky boy WnH. He has just got that cheeky little bugger look about him

OMG your Kuma is so gorgeous and big. How cute he is watching tv! OMG is right ! Kuma is awesome, I love Akita's :)
-
I love Shihtzu's eye's, think they are so big & beautiful. Snowy looks so handsome with his top knot all done up. Mum keeps Toto looking like your teddy, clipped most of the time but I do prefer his coat left unclipped bit it is to hard for her to manage.

There are so many beautiful working dogs & puppies in Working Dog Rescue. I had no idea, the sheer volume till I looked up the link provided just how many poor gorgeous Kelpies & alike that are in need of a good home. It's so sad Everything crossed for them. Guess they aren't suited to most people as they are working dogs & need ample exercise & stimulation is the problem. Most folks wouldn't have the time they required which is so very unfortunate.

Bump this is just so worrying for all concerned.

Can You Help Destiny?

tibbie tabbie, was wondering the very same thing. -
Oh MsDani, it is just so very hard. I understand, it feels like your heart is spilt in two & it just aches. I'm ever so sorry Lovely to read about you boy. Sounds like he was full of personality. Writing is good & I hope it is easing the hurt.
-
Thats very interesting Snook. Whatever it is it certainly has my boy in :)
-
It is really hard for me to tell sorry SecretKei the pic isn't clear enough.
-
I think it looks like a paralysis tick too. I thought it was huge but just must be the pic. I would be very carefully checking all over your dog incase he has any others on him including Ears, rear end, inside mouth & gum area.In between toes, pads & armpits. Also another sneaky spot they like to hide is almost underneath stopper at the back of front legs. I would like $$ for every tick I have pulled out, I would be able to buy my dream acreage by the sea :) Hope your dog is OK & I have been any help.
-
Another phone vet from me too. Even though the tick isn't on your beloved now it could still make them sick. Sorry but they can. They are insidious things. This warm weather will bring them out.
