Sorry bertie, can't help you out there. I travelled 7 hours round trip to see a trainer on the w.end as there is nobody descent imo in our area. Was it worth the trouble? Hell yes. Wouldn't think twice about it if I have to re visit him. You might have to look further afield if there aren't any in your local area. I don't know that area very well as I have only driven through it. Good luck : )

Advice Regarding Grooming My Border Collie
BC Crazy replied to BC Crazy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks everyone for your help thus far. I am trying out some of these new ideas you have kindly shared. Sheena, it is funny how different bc's can be as I also have one boy who always stays fairly clean & yet Stella prides herself in getting down & dirty. LOL. Will role in anything smelly, walk in a mud puddle where Sonny will step around it. She hates being groomed or smelling nice. Sonny loves his grooming & prances about after he has been bathed, "look at me". Go figure. -
Advice Regarding Grooming My Border Collie
BC Crazy replied to BC Crazy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks Mystiqview, I did read your thread of the BC forum & am grateful for your help. I am getting sick of people commenting on my lovely tri-coloured border collie LOL. We are going to have our first dryer lesson some time this arvo.Going to start slowly as you suggested. See how we go. :) -
Hi everyone, Was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some advice on how I to strip my BC's coat. Sonny has a fair bit of sun damage/red tones through his coat, especially on his pants, tail, behind his ears etc. I can see that the some of coat needs to be removed as it is very dead looking but unsure just quite how to do that. I have tried a Mars Coat King but only lightly went over him & still managed to take a chunk of top coat so am not so confident with it now. In the area where I live all the groomers I have talked to want to clip Sonny right off short,or they say they only groom small dogs & I certainly don't want Sonny clipped. The rest of his coat is beautiful. Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Have had a look on UTube too but couldn't find anything, maybe not looking in the right place.

Sounds idyllic. Will be looking into this asap. I am a worry wart when it comes to my guys safety so good to hear they have adequate fencing. Thanks for the heads up.

Do You Need To Be So Precious? Doggie
BC Crazy replied to voloclydes's topic in General Dog Discussion
My Sonny is the biggest sook. Even the smallest thing, a bindi in his foot or so something like that. He just stops dead, with his foot raised, "Oh, poor me". It's the facial expression that gets me though Never seen such a sad, sad face. LOL. Pull out the bindi, all smiles & off we go. What cracks me up even more is the look that Sonny gets from my girl. She shoots him a look like "suck it up Sonny, get over it" ha ha. She is so stoic. -
What Tv Shows Does Your Dog Like To Watch.
BC Crazy replied to pirate's topic in General Dog Discussion
My boy absolutely loves the T.V. ever since a puppy. Loves the footy, tennis, horse racing, any animal shows & cartoons. Anything that moves really. Whenever a "baddy" comes on the news or I am watching the crime channel he charges up to the tele barking, growling & going off, he gets very upset. Really weird. Don't know, go figure ? My girl isn't a t.v. watcher but loves to chase Sonny, so she races up to it too. Yep, we have a very crazy lounge room. : ) -
What Does Your Dally Diet Consist Of?
BC Crazy replied to TheCheekyMonster's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I add kelp powder, fish oil, livermole & when I am almost out of these products, id like to give Missing Link a try. I have always used vitamins e.t.c Yes they have really good quality food but I think it doesn't hurt to keep them at their best. My diets good, & I take vitamins everyday. IMHO. -
Oh dear, hope Murphy is going to be ok. That is my biggest fear with my guys, snakes & my 2 would be up for a big game with one for sure. Everything crossed here for a speedy recovery.

When I got my 2nd dog it took me a while to bond with her. In the begining I thought I too had made a mistake. She had a few issues. e.t.c BUT !! not for one minute did I even entertain the thought of sending her back to the breeder or rehomeing her. I have thrown 110% of effort into bonding with her. I still go to bed each night completely exhausted cause she is a very high energy girl but you know what, I absolutely love her to bits. I think she has bonded with me now too. I can see it in her eyes when she looks at me. Makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside. Everyone is different I guess but I am not one to give up. As Jed said & I totally agree with. It is up to us to go that extra yard to make it work.

What Does Your Dally Diet Consist Of?
BC Crazy replied to TheCheekyMonster's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Opps sorry just read you wanted Dally specific. Ignore post if you want Sonny, 3 year old BC, mid moring after 2 hours exercise, half chic frame. 1 cup BH kibble & 125g roo mince & vitamins at 4 pm for dinner. Stella is 1 year old & has the same only her chic frame is usually smaller & she only has 3/4 cup BH kibble & 100g of roo mince each day. They are both desexed & both of ideal weight according to my vet. You can't see their ribs but you can feel them. :) -
I have always used the yearly heartworm vax on my dogs & never had a drama. Just had Stella done during the week for the first time so both mine are done now. With a medium size dog my vet said it works out roughly the same price as medicating them monthly. I suppose there is 'good' & 'bad' sides to this. I probably should have done more research into the pro's & con's but I have been going to my wonderful vet for the last 17 years & trust him 100% so when he suggested both monthly & yearly just seemed like it was safe option.

Awwww !! That's so cute. They really love each other. Warms the heart. Fly is way to pretty too. Thanks for sharing. :)

I am going to read about that, thanks for the heads up on where to find it. Such a strange & debilitating thing. Aweful really.

What a couragous little girl, Go Harper Where's the tissues. So very sad to think anyone could just throw something so precious in a plastic bag. That is just totally beyond me. She is going so well now with all her very dedicated team behind her. I have never heard of this aweful Swimmers syndrome. Such a heart warming story. Thanks for sharing.

Yep TW I reckon your right. Stella has no trouble finding poo to eat or roll in. Smells it first to help her decide what would be the best plan of attack.

Awww !!! Cute as Pphone. :D

The Dog Takes Control....
BC Crazy replied to pesh's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Classic !! Love it. -
This. Or at least buy small bags so you don't do your dough if it doesn't work out. Completely agreed. I've had my dogs on a few different foods trying to find the best one - Pro Plan, Eukanuba, Royal Canin, Black Hawk. They're now on Taste of the Wild which is great for my allergy dog - I don't think the younger one could care less, kibble is kibble in her opinion. Taste of the Wild would be one I would really try if I couldn't get BH for some reason. So many interesting flavours. Sounds scummy if I was a dog. :)

Another Black Hawk fan here. Tried 6 premium different types of dry food as I have a "Mr fussy pants" when it comes to kibble. He liked some of them for a while then went off them & to be honest he just wasn't doing well on them & his coat even went off. Haven't looked back since swapping to BH Holistic, Sonny looks so much healthier & has a coat to die for. I often get stopped by complete strangers asking me how I keep his coat so shiny, even taking pictures of him & my little girl who also does well on it. Bottom line is they both love it !!! I even use it as training bait. So I guess it is very much a case of trail & error cause every dog is different. You can have the best quality dry food in the world but if it doesn't get eaten you are just wasting your money. Suggest maybe getting a few samples of premium dry food & see how you go, find one that works for your dog & that he likes. Sonny wouldn't go near HSD. Spoilt boy

Average Price Of A German Shepherd?
BC Crazy replied to angelnkids's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am thinking my next BC will be one that is around 10 months or so. Young puppies are lots of work. If I could get a adolescent that has been with raised & socialised with its reputable breeder. I too would snatch the chance you have been offered without hesitation. IMHO $1500 is a fair price, keeping in mind that alot of time & effort has gone into breeding/ raising/training this GSD. :) -
What Is Important For You When Boarding Your Dogs?
BC Crazy replied to OSoSwift's topic in General Dog Discussion
This. This is the most important for me as well. I would only want my own dogs exercised together, no strange dogs. And as one can be a resource guarder with food, would need them to be in separate runs so they could be fed separately. Exactly the same with me too. No strange dogs & I have a resource guarder as well, so yes again although my 2 can be feed together but definitely not with any strange dogs.Sonny wouldn't care less but Stella would 'go off' big time.I would just like them to do as I ask cause we know our dogs & we know the consequences if these certain restrictions are practised. -
