  1. It really does depend on the dog as to the quantities you give them. They are all different. My boy is a very good doer as far as food goes. He runs on almost nothing, fuel wise. I can only just feel his ribs & that is all. You should be able to feel their ribs but not see them.I reckon if anything I could trim him off more if he was competing or something. He amazes me. Yet my girl gets almost the same amount of food as him & she is 16 kg's. She is on the small side though I think I could feed her double & she wouldn't gain anything as she never stops. My boy is not nearly as driven as her. I walk mine 5 to 6 km's a day & they swim for a good 15 mins per day. I am no expert but I don't like Eukanuba. A friend had her dog on it & it was doing the exact same thing as yours. Going straight through her. It is confusing trying to get their diet right with so many different premium dry foods to choose from but IMHO it is well worth paying the extra for premium, just get samples or small quantities of a few of them & try them out. See how your dogs condition goes, coat / over all appearance & energy levels go. Well worth the trouble I found. Hope I was of some help. :)
  2. Best new's ever !! Yaaaaa !! So glad he is home.
  3. Agree with Persephone,Enery & others. This is scarey stuff. Amp up security, keep in contact with police & I wouldn't be letting your dogs out of your sight for a second. Maybe this creep has been watching you, from a neighbouring fence or something as he seems very familiar with the layout of entry & freezer e.t.c Just seems all to easy for him IMHO It must be very frightening for everyone concerned. Hope he is caught quickly. Stay safe.
  4. I thought that sounds alot too. My BC male is on the top end of the breed scale, hes a big boy. He has 3/4 cup BH & 125g of roo meat for dinner & a half a small chic frame in the morning. He is a very fit 24kg boy.
  5. A frightened dog could run on pure fear & adrenilin for many k's. My last boy ran away in a storm once & was seen about 8 k's away from home. We looked all night for him & guess who was on the front door step when we got back. It was a very teary welcome home. He was very wary of strangers though. A one woman dog that one. All paws crossed here for Reggies speedy & safe return. It is a very worrying time for all concerned. He's such a handsome boy, lovely face.
  6. Glad to hear she is back with us. Torn tendons. Ouch !! Bet Monday can't come quick enough for you. Good luck Willow, mend well girl
  7. Thats pretty funny dancinbcs. Give the neighnours something to really think about. LOL
  8. Oh Dandybrush, poor Willow baby girl. Hope she is going to be ok. Sorry to hear she is in need of surgery. I had no idea. Nothing too serious I hope. All our paws are crossed here for a speedy recovery .
  9. Lovely photo's & what a happy ending. Love the last pic "all legs" He looks so happy, he has found a place to call home. Have lots of fun with your new arrival.
  10. Thats sooo cool Thanks for sharing persephone.
  11. Oh, what a lovely / thoughtful gesture. Beautiful picture too. Now that is just awesome for you. Restores my faith in humanity & warms my heart. How kind of them. Best go find the tissues I think, it's made my cry. Soooo sweet.
  12. Both my BC's, 3.5 & 16 months, male & female, both desexed at 6.5 months old. They both still mark but thankfully never inside the house or yard, only when we are out walking. When we are camping both of them won't go to the toilet/mark anywhere near our van. I have to walk them a good 100 meters away.I have been very vigilant with them though & it was time consuming but so far so good. I just didn't want them thinking they could go in the annex or something as we have a floor in it that looks grass slightly. And at home I certainly didn't want to smell urine to smack me in the face when I was out on the deck. Sorry to hear about your boy with the food aggression issue ATM. My girl has always had tendencies for this very thing. She was shocking when I first got her but OH took over feeding her for a while (as I was quite intimidated/upset by her as she really meant business & she knew it) OH has a very quiet but 'I mean business' way about him & she is really good now.Stella has never challanged Sonny over food as he is the boss. I always feed them about 10 feet apart with their backs to each & have had no prob's. Hope I was of some help as aggression is really scarey when you least expect it, isn't it? Have fun camping :)
  13. My cousins used to have a black mini poodle called "Person" when I asked them why they called her that the youngest one replied "cause we brought her from a person". Naturally !! What a logical answer from a 9 year old.
  14. Both mine are water babies. They are both beach bums  everyday for a couple of hours or so. Doesn't matter what the weather. Sonny loves our sprinkler system as well. He runs from one sprinkler head to the next, biting the water, barking & growling. Stella just loves to watch him ready to pounce on him. Whats the funniest is when it turns itself off, the look on Sonny's face, like a spoilt child, " mum, can you turn it back on" .
  15. I wondered that too Persephone.
  16. Hats off to you Kirty !! You are doing such a fabulous jog with Stevie. She looks great & is having an absolute blast playing with her new pal. Love to read the posts on how your very brave girl is going. Life is soooo good. Story's like this one restore ones faith in humanity & warm the heart. Keep up the great work. Here I am struggling to train a high drive reactive girl You inspire me to do better.
  17. My girl is also quite a sook when we are away caravaning. She whines when one of us is not around or is in site of her but she is in her encloser & can't get to us. Settles well at night though. She is a "needy" type. Have tried Dap, Troy Behave as well with no sucess. ATM am trying Vetalogica calm & I can see slight improvement. Don't know if it is possible to give SJW but would be interested to know.
  18. I watched it. Loved the fact that they were told that they didn't have to pay for their cute "pedigree" puppy, just to transport it to their home. HELLO !! Secondly, pup is coming from Nth Terriorty but wire the money to Western Union. Hmmm !! Thirdly, oh we need more money now. Suprise !! Then to top this whole story off they tell people if you don't want this to be you then buy from a pet store. Bloody hell !! I brought both mine over the internet without a problem. I only saw pic's BUT I researched for a good twelve months previously, found excellent breeders, the lines I wanted e.t.c Some people are very gulable & I don't feel sorry for them really. But to tell people to buy from a pet store made me very angry. May as well give them a bus ticket to the nearest puppy mill.
  19. Glad it's you & not me  I had a hard enough time deciding to get another dog & I already knew it would have to be a female Border Collie, as I already had a male. And it was doing my head in. It really is a big commitment a 2nd dog & it is a lot more time consuming I have found anyway. Good luck with whatever you choose to do & what breed you decide on. Keep us posted. :)
  20. This was my thought too as I did suggest to pooch1 on the BC thread. IMHO a Border Collie wouldn't be a suitable choice either as they have their own play style & don't like it when the play gets too rough. By the way "Esky" is just beautiful. What a magnificent example of the breed.
  21. Good point Tassie, I have found that if they barked it sounded a little strained, different to usual.
  22. Gee I have never heard/seen that before That freaks me out. How aweful for you & your poor pooch.
  23. Yes that is very important as Sheena sez, dot it along the back onto the skin & no washing for 48 hours.
