  1. Jesus Yet another horrific attack on innocent, helpless, MUZZLED Grey's out on a morning stroll. Why can't people contain their own dogs securely on their own property????? Especially when they are obviously dog aggressive. How many times does this have to happen to innocent citizens out walking their dogs before something is done to make owners bloody accountable. So unfair & cruel on so many levels. Doesn't surprise me one bit HazyWal that you relive your personal terror with you lovely Greys. I wouldn't hesitate to use a knife either if my dogs were being brutalized by a vicious, stray dog. Shame it is illegal really in this sort of situation.
  2. Yep the release word also marks behaviour. I use a trigger word to put the dog in drive; then I give a command such as sit. If the dog is only just learning I would say yes as soon as the dog complied which releases the dog to the reward (I don't reward in position, I would use yes or good to mark the position). Once I want to extend the position I would say ready (my trigger word) command (sit) marker (goooood) and then after x time I would give the release word (yes). Eventually I would fade out 'good' once the behavior was durable and I would randomly use 'yes' to reward the dog unpredictably. I just have a question Huski. Is there a reason why you don't reward in position. I haven't heard of this & wondered what is the benefit of doing so :) Is it just a personal preference?
  3. Your welcome :) I know how it feels when you love your dog to bits. They aren't well & need our help.... it isn't easy.
  4. Oh he looks sooooo cool :)
  5. Where has that year gone.... I always have thought the first is the most difficult to get through... Thought are with you Piper, very difficult time when you love something you've lost so much.
  6. Coop has definitely drawn the short straw alright He is very fortunate to have a very good mum to take excellent care of him through all of this. Keep us updated with Cooper's progress Bianca won't you.. Very best of luck to you both.
  7. I have been thinking maybe as her collar has 2 rings on it, II could attach a 2nd leash & connect it to my waist. Or I could put her harness on & again attach the leash to my waist.
  8. Oh how gorgeous♡ cuteness overload...:) Beautiful photo's. You must of had a terrible day working with such awsome subjects.
  9. TSD, em looks lovely in her Hurtta but her brand name MUD coat is one of Stella's fav's as well LOL :)
  10. Hankdog you've cracked me up & I'm laughing which beats the hell out of the state I was in this morning. And I'm exactly the same regarding the amount of treats I tend to carry ;) I'm going to have to come up with a 2nd point of connection with Stella as I sit here nursing my left hand that has turned a delightful shade of purple. I need to confident she cannot run off on me again as next time she may not be in any state to show off her brillant recall skills in you know what I mean
  11. Exactly rosetta... left out in the elements with no where to escape them. On the freezing cement. No water & he is no spring chicken as it is
  12. Yes I certainly don't want to get dragged under the truck with her She walks very well on lead, loose leash & at a heel position that is until she gets reactive. She is pretty strong for her size as she is very determine. Maybe with other dolers input we might come up with some other ideas as well. I use Ezy dog zero shock leads atm & they are fantastic for anyone with hand issues like myself. They are really quite long & have tried one around my waist & they seem OK. I just looped the clasp through the end of the lead after putting it around my body. Maybe worth a try???
  13. Thanks for your vote of confidence Snook & support. It was terrifying. My heart is still pounding I'm afraid. I was thinking about something like your suggesting. Maybe just leading Sonny but having Stella on a leash but around my waist. Have you seen those Snook? I wouldn't be actually holding her in my not so reliable hands. I'd just stand still it is impossible for her to get away. I have her in a Rogz obedience collar so she can't slip it, impossible. That was a thought.
  14. Gosh they are just so darn cute Hazy how gorgeous do they look. Love the snoods
  15. Gee that story has made eye's leak What a wonderfully smart dog. Good on the switched on owners for listening to him. Saved their little boy from this awful woman. She is where she belongs now thankfully.
  16. Ok folks would love some advice after what could only be described as a shocker of a morning with Stella.... Stella was actually behaving like a dream all morning up until the walk home. I was walking on the edge of a very quite street thankfully when the garbage truck came taring around the corner. Catching me be surprise. I had both my dogs on leads but Stella got away on me & ran flat out start across the road, chasing the truck NOT HAPPY... I screamed out to her & she ran straight back to me & sat at my feet but it all happened so darn quickly, she could of been killed. I lost it & burst into tears, not the best way to handle it but I was so shocked. I quickly just grabbed her lead. So lucky there were no cars coming the other way otherwise she would of been killed. No doubt about it !!! I do have trouble holding the leads as my hands are very arthritic so I have limited movement & little feeling due to nerve damage. I thought I had hold of her quite firmly. Obviously NOT... My question being what do I do about this? I felt I couldn't rouse on her after she had returned to me for nicking off on me. I just didn't engage her the rest of the way home as I was too upset. Stella kept looking up at me. We walked into our street & another garbage truck was heading towards up, she didn't bat an eye. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated. I certainly don't want this to happen again & she has never done this before.
  17. Loved it Everybody is having a blast at the beach, even the cat
  18. 17 puppies WOW !!! Yes busy mum & her helpers I would think. That is one hell of a litter...
  19. Thanks ness that's good to know. I have hands like an 80 year old unfortunately. So I will try anything to get more movement & less pain.
  20. Love all of our model dogs as well JulesP, Red is definitely Poppy' colour. So suits her I'm getting the red one for Stella as she is a red girl as well. The coats look great. Look very water proof which is exactly what I want.
  21. Oh poor old fella I notice you are from Melbourne Terri. Gosh I would certainly be concerned. This ol' cocker should be inside in a warm bed. It gets freezing in winter in Vic. as well s no water etc. I would be taking pic's as others have suggested & phoning the RSPCA. The owners need a shake up... The cold cement floor is no place for a dog to be sleeping
  22. I just had a better look at his Xray.Geez that left hip must painful for him. Poor fella My boy will have to have his done as well if his arthitis gets the better of him. With him the actual ball of the hip joint looks like it is deteriorating but it is still sitting in place thus far thankfully. Out of interest Bianca is your boys condition genetic? I have seen a few shep's with hip issues.
  23. I think maybe you should get a few shares in RHV then dancin LOL. So the canine one still works out cheaper. I' m going to give the capsules a go for my Arthritic hands. Better get some shares myself
  24. Ok hankodie, the teenage stage. Lets push mums buttons LOL. Just take a deep breath with him but make it known you wont tolerate any nonsense. Just remember when Hank was very young when he threw his weight around with fur mum, she only growled once. End of the fuss !!! :)
