  1. Pers - the heads were cleanly cut off and the bodies put somewhere an animal couldn't (don't want to put too much detail in case it causes upset) I know the swans may have fled but isn't that sad in itself - wildlife being scared away from their habitat? Thanks Mita, I'll have a look and see what I can find out. It's horrible, the pond is next to a play area and this has upset a lot of the locals as it's usually a lovely area.
  2. A friend of mine who lives in a suburban area has found some of the local ducks dead and decapitated. Two black swans are also missing. I told her to call the RSPCA, but she was told nothing they could do as wild animals?! Is there anyone she can report this to? Police arent interested either
  3. My dog (rescue with high anxiety) had bad staining like this from years of continual OCD licking of her feet. It's the stain from the saliva. The answer to it would be to address the behaviour, we worked on it with a combination of training and DAP collars etc. Now she still licks them when something 'new' happening, ie anything out of usual routine, but otherwise is good :)
  4. This sounds just like the situation my little JRT came from... After all of her four years spent like that she was terrified of the world (being a jack this was expressed in barking, growling, attacking everything ; p). She turned around so quickly though, with a behaviourist and training, and is now a happy little cuddlebum. So if the familes give these guys up, there is great hope for them.
  5. Try Pawprints training, they do free puppy play group and are great trainers :)
  6. He does have tibbie looking legs...... I guess you'll find out soon if he starts climbing ; p
  7. I thought it may have been a hoax at first but then I couldn't figure out what on Earth would be funny about it And sadly I've heard stupid reasons like this before.... If the number has that message then I'm hoping it is a hoax with stolen pictures.
  8. Just looked online and there is a mobile number. Could any of the people who can help get the dog give them a call? I'm worried if I do they'll think I'm messing them around as I wont be the one picking him up.... 0430705416
  9. Aw, what beauties.... Wonder if she has contacted her breeder tho? At least being desexed they won't end up in a puppy farm.
  10. The ad says leichhardt. Yep, if I was close I would have him here now. I'm sure he'd find a home quickly despite his age. To be honest I thought it was a hoax at first as it's so strange. My childhood KCS had a heart murmer, he was an amazing soul who we lost too young. Guess that's why this hits home...... If a rescue does take him please let me know so I can make a donation.
  11. Saw this on Gumtree.... http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/leichhardt/dogs-puppies/cavalier-king-charles-spaniel-dog-/1018101964 Family are re-homing their old boy due to building a new pool?! I'm not entirely sure, but I think he is intact from the info. Wouldn't like to see him go into the wrong hands but I'm not in the state
  12. Aw! So cute! They had so much fun, Chewy was so happy!
  13. Malt vinegar in warm water. I have two dogs that do 'doggy art' on the patio windows (they have a dog flap so are free to come in and out so no idea why they do this!) and vinegar and water works every time! Newspaper is great for polishing windows.
  14. Belle - throws herself to the ground and plays dead on walks/runs, whenever she is on the bed for cuddles she will manage to get in such a position that she takes up the whole bed (she is an 8kg JRT x) - then when told she has to move she pretends to be dead, before bedtime she gets carried out for wees (we have a dog flap) and then carried to bed otherwise she does the sloooowwwwesstttt walk EVER. Can you see a 'play dead' theme here? Scared me to death when we first adopted her as she does it really well - stiff limbs, no blinking, no moving......until food comes out that is.... Chewbacca - being a tibetan x he is a licker! He also uses jedi mind tricks to wake us up - he will sit and stare, a stare that actually wakes you. Even though these are 'annoying', it is what gives them their hilarious personalities. I love my terrible twosome, they make me laugh every day :)
  15. Yes I was thinking they may have been able to see the dog. I wouldn't do it myself, I would worry they would be stolen especially Stan who would willingly get in anyones car if it meant he didn't have to walk home. I wouldn't report it. Stan is awesome
  16. Apart from theft, I would never leave a dog in such a vulnerable condition. Tied to a post they could be trapped in a horrible situation, i.e., a child not knowing how to act around dogs and getting in it's face/climbing on it/feeding it chocolate bars etc (i'm always protecting my dogs from over excited children running at us and trying to hug them/climb on them etc -and I have small dogs! - and thats when they are on lead!). Adults can also be totally inappropriate. There is also the risk of off lead, wandering dogs, or even on lead dogs (I would never allow my dogs to approach a tied up dog but a lot of people wouldn't realise how this can effect behaviour).
  17. Pahahhahah - thats the one It looks like she is snarling! Sometimes she'll sleep in a ball on my lap and then look up at me with both upper lips 'stuck' haha!!
  18. Oh they are such awesome pictures!! Thank you!! I still love the 'outtake' one of Belle with her lip stuck up ; P She gets 'dry mouth' all the time and looks so funny  It was great to talk dog and they all did really well, Louis and Daisy are such cuties :D
  19. Talking about made-up breed names, my local pet shop has Tibetan Speagles for sale for Christmas Um....WTF? Tibetan Spaniel Beagle crosses?!?! Why would you do that on purpose?!
  20. This. Through this my two don't care about storms at all and will even go in and out. We have slept in a tent when a thunderstorm hit and the most my JRT did was complain and roll over. We had fireworks very close to us last night for the first time. Like I did with storms (and everything else - my JRT was reactive) I got the chicken/liver (i.e., fresh, soft, high reward treats) out and started off just feeding them, then when fully focussed on my they had to start working for the treats. I understand with very storm phobic it may take a long time to get to this stage, but my humble advice is try it all - thunder shirt, DAP (or similar), food. When I first got my Jack this is the only way she could even leave the house - took longer to get her ready than her walks ; P
  21. It really is the most awesome spot, we are so lucky to have it. I'm insanely jealous of your back yard, mines all on different levels, so playing fetch the ball bounces down hills into inaccessible spots and zoomies there calls for some pretty tight turns. My yard would be more suitable for serious rock climbers than doggy antics. Yours is big and green and grassy and open and just amazing. I'd be worried about taking my dog to the snow, bully breeds have such skimpy hair, I'd worry she'd be cold - great fun for dogs with lovely fluffy coats though I bet. XD You'd be surprised! My families staffs back in the UK loooove running through the snow - they never seem to feel the cold and have to be coaxed back inside by the fire
  22. Hi Yellow Girl. When we adopted my then 4 year old JRT x she had many behavioural and psychological issues - one being OCD. She would fixate on shadows more than any dog i've ever seen. She would stare at a shadow with such intensity you could hold steak next to her and she would drool and whimper but not be able to pull herself away. The only thing we could do was to put a barrier in between her and the shadow. She also licked herself a lot, and her bedding/sofa/basically anything she was near - including windows. She wouldn't hurt herself though, just 'get stuck' in a certain behaviour. We used a DAP collar (tried the sprays and the bandanna, the plug in version - don't rate them myself), it is a type of plastic you fit to their neck, snugly but not tight, they last a month. It takes a week or two but it took the edge off enough so that we could work with her. We basically got her into a routine (walk, brekkie, sleep, run, dinner....) including exercise, didn't expose her to any stress (people visiting, loud anything etc) and did lots of diversion and redirection training. It was exhausting as every two mins she'd look at a shadow so one of us would grab the tug toy/some treats and start making some strange noise to get her attention - but it has all paid off. As her socialisation with other dogs, lead training, basic training, bonding all improved so did her OCD. We have been DAP collar free for 8 months now!! :) She will occasionally look at a shadow or start to lick but we just have to say her name now and she stops. So that was a long way of suggesting the DAP collar! You really are amazing for helping out these bubs who no one else would. If anyone can help her I know it will be you! (PS - my bubs love their LLR snuggle blankets, they drag them in their beds at night and out during the day :) )
  23. My two work as a team to unstuff any stuffed toy - I think they are going for a world record. There is one exception though - a stuffed dog. We've had it over a year and they just carry it around?! We think they must know it's a 'dog' haha ; P
  24. Poor thing, it's so horrible she has been put in this situation (grrr - groomer) FYI - I see you are a crestie fan - Shenton had a 5 year old chinese crested power puff brought in today (maybe a cross, he had some hair - sorry i'm clueless with the breed!). Poor thing looked petrified, hope he finds a home soon
