  1. I certainly do. One is slightly cautious of men and general socialisation stuff needs work. She’s very friendly and loves you once she’s met you so I ask men to feed her treats and talk to her on the street when she looks like she might waver a bit. It’s doing us well so far, she’s starting to associate men with tasty treats and lovin. And Gus just loses his mind for a cuddle, he’s a bit much for some but I like him to meet kids and learn to be gentle. Having said that I like people to ask. Especially kids, these mothers that let toddlers bound up to big bouncy dogs are just my mortal enemies. Haha. We might be working on something or having a bad day or just in a general hurry and I can’t always stop and chat, as much as I’d usually like to.
  2. Oh, that deserves a write up and pix in the local rag. There's a doggy day out in the area next week, if they're there I'll ask if I can snap a few for you all. Haha.
  3. We saw a kelpie towing two senior cit SWF's down the foreshore last week, all parties looked thrilled. Was lovely!
  4. It certainly helps for their records as well. When they're allocating resources and working out a plan of action I would hate to have our council think they have nothing at all to worry about, when they do. A near miss is dumb luck a lot of the time, I know if my dog snapped at the face of a kid I'd be upset, and manage him/her differently, loose dogs don't phase me unless they're in danger or nasty, but certainly being rushed or snapped at warrants some record.
  5. Gus the FC was about the same and about a kilo a week, certainly seemed happy enough and no real weight dramas!
  6. My brain hurts. What the hell? Sounds like a right mess to me.
  7. Can you copy and paste for us suckers with FB blocked at work?
  8. All said with sarcasm and a touch of bitterness! Sorry to have offended! I have a second hander myself. She's gorgeous.
  9. I'll report back! So far so good though. Everyone is happy and well and no naughtier than one! (I've jinxed myself now, I bet! )
  10. What did you think they would do without identifying the owner? Certainly does no harm? Perhaps if similar instances are reported the ranger could keep an eye out on his rounds. Better to report it and get nowhere than just let it slide.
  11. Excellent! A very good start, I imagine! Hooray you!
  12. That sounds magical! Wow! We have a row of houses with constant fence barkers, that is the stuff of dreams to me!
  13. My sister does this at my mum's. I have always wanted to write a letter 'from a neighbour' in complaint  She drives me mad, dogs can't make a peep!
  14. That's bloody atrocious. Sure, and you can explain to my PB dog why he's not good enough for us, by the same logic? Makes no bloody sense at all and boils my blood. Fabulous idea. Let's edge out the only set of people who are (for the most part) working hard to move forward with our dogs, those who are researching, spending time and money and love, testing, thinking, valuing and housing in suitable situations and let's all get second hand dogs who's past, genetics and even breed are often questionable instead. Stop these filthy breeders breeding beautiful sound dogs for their own selfish wants because they're filling up homes for the consistent steady stream of dogs coming out of suburban backyards who were sold purely for profit with gay abandon for health, future or anything else. You've really sold me by insulting my choices there, I'll never have another PB dog again. Sure.
  15. I can't say I agree with the actions but that seems like a much lesser crime to me? (totally personal opinion and no offence meant, just an interesting quandary) Having said that we've never had an animal PTS where the vets would have wanted an autopsy, but I can't imagine withholding consent if they asked. Particularly if they were to be disposed of by them and not taken home to bury.
  16. I saw this too! The bowl tray looks cool as!
  17. Lucky those dogs were looking after you, or didn't want to have their bed messed up! Hahaha. Our Sunday morning lie ins used to be so peaceful, once you throw out the cat who INSISTS on sleeping between us with his head between the two pillows and body under the blankets all was good. Recently the other cat's got in on it and gets between your legs, of course. And as soon as I leave the room or stop paying attention the two dogs clamber in. I might need a bigger bed...
  18. That's incredible. I love this plan. I hope people take it up! Would love to donate if you'd like to PM me who that is. What a fabulous plan! One of my local cat care groups does this, they "book in" the litter for vetwork in advance and then the owner picks mum back up. They have an all or none policy so unless the whole litter is handed in then they take wont accept the litter, previously they would find that some of the kittens ended up being given away free undesexed before their appointment. mum is desexed free of charge. That's good thinking. Would seem mad to turn it down I guess!
  19. Totally OT http://www.sciencealert.com.au/news/20072711-16645.html We went on an epic family drive from Melbourne to Alice Springs and back (I'm still scarred by stories told by mum and grandma, but hey!) and a tour guide was telling us about this from his work up in QLD. Fascinating stuff! He'd seen parents teaching their young to do it too.
  20. That's incredible. I love this plan. I hope people take it up! Would love to donate if you'd like to PM me who that is. What a fabulous plan!
  21. I imagine it would be a job with a high turnover, so perhaps an incentive to keep those skilled, experienced employees on board rather than new staff every few months might not be a bad thing.
  22. Dog is very lucky the horse didn't deal out a swift kick.... that must have been pretty awful though.
  23. I'm sure they'll be fine! :) Due for more photos, methinks! ;)
