  1. Agreed. Social workers on the bench again enforce laws and see the results of fewer reports of animal abuse, imnsho
  2. I got a bit more hacked off that the media was calling the dog 'poochie', tbh. Then I guess that's more me. I looked at my baseball bat & wished I could belt his knees with it. I pack a mean wallop.
  3. Majority of dogs are heaps smaller than most humans. A supposed adult, supposedly educated lost his temper with an animal. Size is but part of the equation, imo. His behaviour stinks. No, I am totally appalled. He is a bully.
  4. I, for one, would never have him at my bedside. How about his obligations as the father of 4 children and wife?
  5. My 1st Hero dog was a magnificent Irish Setter named Blue. We were at a picnic by a very fast flowing river. I wandered 'off' without my parents noticing. I was about 2 years old. I took off towards the river. Blue came after me. As I zig-zagged trying to get to that wate, Blue blocked me. Each step from me meant Blue would give a sharp yelp. That did alert my parents. Just as I was about to take to the water, Blue gently put his mouth on my wrist just as my Dad arrived. Blue loved his months of fresh bones for that rescue.
  6. http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/sydney-surgeon-sentenced-for-bashing-exgirlfriends-dog-20140821-106p1r.html A wee dog weighing under 3kgs?
  7. I love the wiggle-butt, happy dance of Horrible Herbert with off-key Woo-woos of pure love. Never fails to melt mme.
  8. You & me both. I swear they were helping my paws... I mean my hands.
  9. It's a bursting kind of excitment/happiness and loving the idea of the treat. But part of the dog wants this treat safe secure and not touched because maybe there might never be another treat. 'And Momma, help me safeguard the treat... oh boy, a treat, I got a treat.' I am sure you known that delightful JRT frenzy of enjoyment. :D
  10. Paws crossed you do not. LOL. Only one of our dogs had no fear of hot wire. He took it as an affront it was put in his way!
  11. Might I tactfully suggest 6ft 6 inches or higher? Piroska V ( for girl Vizsla) could scale 11 feet fences. In her younger day, she climbed everything. And could get down afterwards.
  12. Who knew Carob Buttons have shark cartilage? Guess that's why they are a tad crunchy.
  13. Well pleased to read this. Looking after the customer is the right procedure. Shall keenly await the next update.
  14. This. Putting poo in other peoples' bins is (in my opinion) really rude. Especially if the bin has just been emptied. In fact, putting it in a freshly emptied bin is beyond rude, it's dickish. Would the OP enjoy smelling some other dog's crap in his/her bin for a whole week? Someone did that at my place. Dropped that parcel in my empty rubbish bin. I went inside, grabbed a pair of gloves. Retrived the present. Walked up the road to their house. Knocked on the front door. Handed the present back to the person who answered the door. Simply said you dropped this by accident. BTW, I live in the Hawkesbury so avoid any bins there.
  15. You were NOT responsible for the accident. Any decent breeder should listen to your story with compassion and understand that you & your family may be that wonderful chance for their dog to have a happy furever home. Sad/bad things happen. That is life. For sure you coped the really raw end of the deal. You are not a bad person. repeat this: I am a good person and serve the Universe to send me another dog to love. Do this and smile as you think of all the good times Holly will have again soon.
  16. Russell Lea are just the best. SASH is also just the best. And guess what? You are just the best furkid parent too. Ongoing HUGS & prayers for strength for all of you and many happy moments.
  17. (((Seren))) It has happened to me. It is happening to me right now. This week is the first anniversary of my Heart dog's passing. Mine is no longer as frequent. But it is there yet my boy is not. Personally I feel it is my own mind not fully accepting his going and longing for his prescence again. I have even been unwilling to talk too much about it. Buckets of tears follow. I have found this very forum, ( not just this Rainbow Bridge part) to be cathartic in allowing my myriad of emotions to settle. I am also firmly of the school of thought that we, the grieving person, have different yardsticks in coming to terms with the passing of a beloved furkid. Let yourself try to understand this.
  18. This is a really horrible trick that can be done to unsuspecting puppy buyers. They get conned into paying over money to acquire a puppy that may not even be medically fit. Were you told in writing or verbally of the conditions of the deposit? I may sound blunt but it's not to hurt either you or your partner. If this is not a fully registered dog with the Queensland Canine Council, ie, a puppy on Mains Register, you are over paying the price for the dog. Read very very carefully that post by brightstar123. Unless you are given fully documented paperwork of correct testing of parents, this wee puppy may not be worth the risk of potentially high medical costs. I could not wish anyone to have to deal with a sick dog because of a breeder's failure to be reasonable.
  19. I used to take my tiels to Dr Gill ( the husband & Avian Vet). We had 'acquired' a tiel from an older couple who went into a Retirement Home. No joke, their ceilings were brown with smoke. Never forgotten this. But when I walked in with the bird it 'squawked' & sounded so poorly. Jim Gill said, without even touching the bird 'do his humans smoke?' He then told me all about the perils of smoke, of fumes (teflon fry pans & air fresheners). Was disturbing.
  20. My heart is so touched. Look at the results of all your TLC. wow.
  21. It also causes issues with pet birds, like budgies, 'tiels and canaries.
