  1. Oh that stirred some memories. Been a few years since I needed it for the older dogs when they were much more active, including being in the field. :D
  2. Expect Ivy tries to remove the socks. For some dogs, they are like foreign objects.
  3. Similar with Horrible Herbert nearly 9 months old. He reacts badly with lamb. My husband thinks it is the hidden fat in the flaps. Poultry 'bones' should be fine. :)
  4. Forgot to add, there is a Gundog Gala Weekend on 16 & 17th August. It is being arranged by The Gun Dog Society NSW It will be held at Bill Spilstead Complex, Luddenham Maybe a chance to network there too. :D
  5. Maybe you could get some info from here? My link Vizslas I know belong to both of these groups. My link Sounds really wonderful you can give this dog a chance in life.
  6. I wonder if you have any concept of a working line of dog in full drive to carry out an order by its handler? The dog was on a long lead. That is allowed ( at this point) in terms of what the dog was doing. We do not know much more about the age of the dog, its time in the field. Might it need refining of its training? Possibily. Without having more info of all the facts, i would not offer more thoughts. Thanks
  7. What about the fact the Police dog was doing its job? He was seeking an offender and was in full drive to try to carry out his duty.
  8. Every day for Stan, should be meat pie day Stan is Spesial
  9. Around a corner? The Police dog was on a long tracking lead. His handler was NOT on scene. Arrived after the fact
  10. I would be more careful in the confines of a Vet's reception area at any time. It could be an issue to assume another dog is in a good place in itself at the Vet. When we go, we sit against one wall. It happens to be by a door as well. Before I go into the Vet, I check at the front desk the situation is OK.
  11. He is totally beautiful!!!!
  12. What a unique and special day to celebrate, A Gotcha Day for such a unique & Spesial Stan. Happy 4th Gotcha Day, Old Man. Enjoy many more & have a chomp on the odd freezer door. A true hero, Stan

  15. Love , love, LOVE this. The ups, the downs. But that look in the eyes of the dog melts me always. Great share, huski
  16. How adorable! I am thrilled to read Justice has a new friend. Welcome Pax
  17. With the Vizslas, about one week. Overall ours would shake their 'sore' ear long beofre anything becamse obvious. If we ignored those signals, then after one week, a check would show gunk happening. The new Vizsla has a tendency to get 'bad ears'. That is partly from his going swimming. Since I got the calendula tea from Steve I have had less problems.
  18. Another show last week replaced an Israeli Judge. This replacement for the Ekka will cause ripples because of the status of the Show, sadly.
  19. Hugs and love PuddleDuck dearest Doof! run free at The Rainbow Bridge/
  20. I will be following too. Still sad at the news.

  22. I thought your name was familiar. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/258467-dislocated-hip-need-advice-please/page__p__6527628__fromsearch__1#entry6527628 I lived in the USA for a few years. I have friends whose dogs ( all of different breeds) had hip replacements. Ages ranged from young ( 9 months after MVA) to 12 years (simply old age). All dogs made good recoveries and went on living life well. My own Vet here in NSW does them very often. I have seen dogs in the surgery who came in before, unsteady and then post-op, recovered. It does take time, it does take dedication from the owns to help the dog recover. My breed is an active breed. We have always considered that if the need arose, we would let a dog have the same type of surgery. Ask as many questions as you can. Make sure your husband understands the full picture too.
