  1. I havw been asked twice if the Vizsla was a Ridgeback puppy. They were fascinated with the explanation of the breed. :D
  2. Oh the poor poor dog. Next thing he will be pulling the clothes line down and making havoc. Geeze. For time-outs the unruly puppy I have goes to his crate. There is NO feeling of resignation. Sorry but to me that is a really negative feeling for a young dog. I hope the behaviourist never suggested that.
  3. That dog will be on phenobarb. Meidcal marijuana for dogs is feasible for other aliments as well. Glaucoma, epilepsy, cancer, pain relief, appetite stimulation and anxiety are some of the reasons.. I think it is made from hemp which does not have the TCH ( stone-factor). It is still illegal to dispense here. There are more Vets in the USA prescribing this with good results. http://alpinevet.com.au/marijuana-for-dogs/ Current (enough) news link http://www.nbcnews.com/business/consumer/pot-pets-companies-make-hemp-laced-meds-fidos-n124826 Considering how some medications make dogs so very ill, I would consider this as treatment ubder the guidance of a trusted Vet. :)
  4. Colorado is the state to go. Booming industry for medical marijuana. ( for humans).
  5. Ah, the whelping in the bedroom scenario. I know that one :D Kizie Poodle had a great whelping box build for her in an air-conditioned room. She had been shown the box, slept in the box. Day of wehlping, she nudged open the bottom drawer of a hand-made cedar chest of drawers. It was her home for the next 6 weeks.
  6. I did that with one of my customers Standard Poodles recently. Very often it's a great compliment to the breeder, imo. :D
  7. Sorry I just ROFLOLWMP!!!!! Heard greyhounds called many things but never a too thin Dalli! People are too precious
  8. I saw a lady with two pulis once. I asked her about them and she thought I was Hungarian. She was thrilled her dogs got recognised
  9. How about Wagga Wagga? It's an hour after Gundagai. There's a caravan park there, pet friendly & reasonable price. used be places near Yass too. Mind, it depends on the budget. :)
  10. What really gets my wick is people who buy dogs and allow them to be not dogs. They actively encourage this behaviour. Rant over.
  11. Now that's informative. I may change. Not sure yet. Thanks, Steve :D
  12. Agree with this. Dog looks badly over-weight to me as well.
  13. I do get your pov. This Vizsla is the 1st of all our dogs to do this. He may well grow out of the habit. Our old boy is incontinent so his behaviour may be affecting that of the puppy.
  14. sounds encouraging then, Stormy. Paws crossed for daily improvment & HUGS to you for being such a caring Momma.
  15. According to Dogs Victoria, they are. My link
  16. ANother brilliant thread!!!! Squuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee for the photos and info regarding a great breed.
  17. Yes, I was told that years ago by my Grandmother. She used to breed boxers and had great knowledge of animal husbandry. Been reading recently about their little eating habits so now watch carefully. Besides it stops my standing in it too.
  18. Yeah, The Great Ocean Road. Gosh, did not know that had changed. Well you could go up to The Mallee and The Wimera in Victoria? I thought of this thread too... Canetoad drove from Brisbane to Kalgoorlie. Dont exactly recall all the places he went. But there might be tips for you. Yes, I love travelling. Such an adventure. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/256941-jonah-drives-across-australia/
  19. Just a suggestion a drive along the road of the 12 Apostles should have plenty of areas where the dogs are allowed 'out'. Or do what we did years ago. We went Outback to Broken Hill, then down in to Victoria and along the Murray River. We managed fine with the Vizsla. We actually stayed in motels that were only too happy to let her be crated in our room. Sounds so exciting! I would take all 3 myself.
  20. But I bet they do that brilliantly
  21. That was my worry. I am glad you got a specialist to check. What did he suggest? :)
