May I present to you Life according to Horrible Herbert, the Hungarian Vizsla. I am nearly 9 months of age. I chewed my Royal Canin bed to pieces. I then moved on to chew the land line cord the cables for the iphones, ipad, and the surround stereo system. I can put my foot on the rubbish bin pedal. The lid pops up and I feast on the goodies inside. I am a counter surfer extraordinaire. My Mommas smeared the edges with Vicks. I like that taste soooooooooooooooo much. I was not deterred for a second. To make sure I am safe, my Papa made a fabulous aluminum gate for the space between lounge and kitchen. ( No door (yet)). I thought that was a bit mean. So I did practise a couple of times. Now I can JUMP over that gate. I am not sure why Momma cried? If you would like to come out to the back yard, then you can see the holes I am digging. I am doing that to try to dig a tunnel back to Queensland. I want to play with my big brother. It's pretty neat. He is digging holes too so we can play together again. Anything at nose level is MINE!!!! All MINE!!!! I really like Papa's shoes & underwear. I run fast. I hope these make you smile, DobeMum. Apparently I am a really good boy..... when I am asleep

Oh I feel so normal. I talk to the dogs all the time. I talk to the 'tiel all the time. I talk to the Cockatoo when I am outside doing the washing or gardening. Even spare a few words for the SO. Nowdays I sing to both dogs when I am in the bathroom. *coughs* Dog bum in between my legs means back tickling whilst I sing to them. Great thread.

But this is what will happen WHEN you get the guidance. You will be trained to learn to help him. For starters, it's great you have decided to get help. In learning to train dogs we humans often need another human to guide us and give us the benefit of their knowledge because they are seeing the behaviours of both human & dog. Reading gives the ideas to start. :)

Given what you went on to describe, I would stop the Cesar Milan approach yesterday. It's not exactly what the dog needs. I would consider a trainer to do one on one with you. This will give you the confidence and will be a postive for the dog to stop his confusions. He is so lucky to have you trying to look after him well. :)

Are you able to get another kennel and an opinion from another Vet?

Homeopathic remedies exist that are effective. http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/homeopathic-remedies-for-kennel-cough/ I would always suggest checking with your Vet. But they do exist as options, and are successful. Our bitch and the desexed boy were treated successfully prior to going into kennels. Neither ever had Kennel Cough troubles. As always, I add the comment, discuss with your your Vet. :D

At 11? NOTHING, absolutely nothing. Background: old boy of now 14 years had diagnosed via Dr Jean Dodds, vaccinois. On her advice, we used titres to determine his health. He had one last January when he had a full blood panel done. Everything tested for fine. The Vet was impressed with his overall health. Fast-forward to the breeder of my new puppy who is also a Vet. Her advice is exactly the same. Maintain good health in the dog, do titre testing where needed AND consider if ever told to allow the three yearly vaccines. Close friends in the USA has 4 'elderly' dogs, all titre tested. ALL of them have just over their last winter gained their last Field titles. Not on a sopabox but I truly think if your dog is in good health, YOU are happy with him & your Vet backs your choices, then avoid vaccination. Good Luck :D

Sandgrubber I think you should look at the definition of the word cruel Does not just mean physical pain

I sure do not feel it is a waste of time IF you as the owner perceive a neck issue. Hope the new specialists help. A dog should be sound in all parts of the body, imo. Hopefully you can get another opinion which resolves all issues for you. Best Wishes for the move and getting better treatment for your boy. :)
