Thought there is a school of thought that premature desexing of large breed dogs can be very detrimental to their correct growth? -

That med is called Carafate. Maybe you have heard of it? I just googled it & it used to protect the stomach from inflamation apparently. This medication should be given before other medication. It all becomes timing when it is prescribed. ( certainly for humans). From what BC Crazy said, the timing of medication should work. The probiotics would be working by the time the antibiotics were given. It's not actually together as such.

Ongoing paws crossed for great leaps and bound improvement..... But for Cooper to just to gentle walks to aid his recovery. Nothing too over the top for him.

I have a foot wide smile to read these words!!! What a time for Stella to be as normal as possible. What a reward for all your very hard work, and her own responses too. Excellent
-
Well done, dear StelLa! And you, BC Crazy. What a sweet reward for all the TCL you give Stella. It must have been much less of a worry that Stella handled herself OK. Sending ongoing good vibes for a speedy recovery/

My link Thanks for that link. I could not find it in my lists of 'horrors'. I read it last year & was impressed with the author's horror of this spectacle. Now re-added

5 weeks can be the start of the time when weaning happens. The puppies need to be eating 'solids' and the bitch's milk will be starting to dry up. They are totally gorgeous puppies :D It's natural for some feeding to still be given as of today. ( given their age). Consider that jumper to cover the Mother's nipples & stay with removing her when you can. Balance will happen. :D ETA: Persephone expressed it much better than me! This is natural behaviour....

Clean Run 'pop Open Crates'
VizslaMomma replied to Sail_Away's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
good info. My patience level would not manage then. -
You are talking about Horrible Herbert. He is a full on tornado He knows two speeds flat out and stop. Biggest bonus since he came home is the more he grows, the more weight I am dropping.
-
thank you, I am glad to hear she is the correct size. Most places I go with her I get told she is tiny which made me worry even more. But she is putting on weight steadily. That's encouraging for you. dont be put off by 'outsiders' ever saying your dog is too thin/small. We had the reverse with the Aunty's CKCS. She was allowed to graze all day ( and most of the night). One very fat dog, sadly. Aunty used say but she does not eat much, and trip over the plate of goodies left out.

Winter is bleak in that area too. Wonderful to read of the reunion. -
I would hope you were not flamed as you speak sense, imo. Looking back at different breeds of dogs taken at different ages, those who left home early did have more issues. I did not own any but had friends that made poor choices.

Great Decision Matrix For Choosing A Good Breeder

I don't have any argument with that. I wondered if you thought of adding this to your Selecting a Show puppy thread? -

Wow! Prices are very good. Hope Jules pops into the thread & gives some info. Bit cash-strapped at the moment. But........... :) -
Also, my Vet told me that doing a home sterlising job on a glass jar is OK the majority of times when a dog presents with diarrhoea. He based that on a dog having diarrhoea all night and a specimen being needed for checking. It saved a trip to purchase one, return home, etc etc. Or you can buy the urine specimen jars from the chemist and have them at home as part of the First Aid kit.

Sometimes Momma will let them know she is not interested in being their milk supply. If she agrees, try keeping them apart. They should be looking at life outside the whelping box more & more. :D
