I have two birds now. In the house I have the 19 year old cockatiel and outside the female cockatoo. ( age not determined). Somehow, both birds yell out 'oh Momma' if any dog about the house behaves poorly. First time I heard it from the 'tiel, I nearly fell over laughing. On the whole the birds are ignored.

What hope is there for the general public.

Whippets are very strong pretty much everywhere but Victoria in particular. Didn't stop me getting one because I really love the breed. :) Got told I could have picked an "easier breed". I didn't want an easier breed. I wanted a Whippet :) We pick a breed that makes our heart jump, imho. Quite a few boxes to be ticked, as suggested long before going out to the ring. Those first rounds in the ring can be wonderful or a disater. But that lick on your face from your dog is worth a thousand points. :)

We looked into bowls to help but our Doberman had one in his younger years that he chewed up! lol. Will try scattering food, she seems to be slowing as she's growing, probably because she doesn't have to compete with her siblings anymore. Thank you :) What you can think of doing is having variety of how Kirby gets her food. Scattered in the yard sometimes, muffin trays other times. When she is older her meals might be frozen meat that she can slowly chew. My heart dog was the absolute garbage guts. Suck the meal down and throw it back up. What I did was change him to frozen meats & hand feed him for a few weeks until he actually slowed himslef down to eat. For us it was also great bonding. One thing I do is never feed at the same time. Good Luck with all of this. :D

Years ago, relatives of a dear friend did the very same thing. The wife wanted a 'purse' dog. Mega bucks for the dog. But worse expensive Vet bills for its life.
