I am on a mission to do nice relaxing things with the dogs. I have been doing heaps of obedience/agility training for about 4 years and now I want to do pet stuff! Last weekend I went to Warrandyte and went for a walk along the river. It was great. Also went to Lilydale Lake. Have a herding clinic coming up in a couple of weeks, they are always fun.

You can feed the Pro Plan Performance to both pups and older dogs -
Herding Instinct Test Kcc Park 27th & 28th March
JulesP replied to Starkehre's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I did check the list and Rotties still aren't on it? The dog does need to have seen sheep prior to the instinct test. That is a rule. Yes there is a clinic on the 20th. There is also a website. www.vicherding.com -

Is this a Rottie? Unfortunately Rotties are currently not on the list of allowed breeds. -
Oh no! Poor thing. She has been coming along really well too. Her owners would be so upset.

Oh poor baby! It isn't Kirra is it?? I have just been in pre-puppy with Kirra.

I feel your pain! My neighbors will not contain their dog. I looked out this morning and it was pissing on my gate! It comes over every morning to piss on stuff!

Any One Else's Dog Too Precious To Go Out In The Rain?
JulesP replied to princesszelda's topic in General Dog Discussion
The Borders haven't been happy this weekend but the weather has been pretty feral. They don't want to come in the house either, they are just unsettled. Brock (large male border) managed to crawl underneath his trampoline bed yesterday when it started raining again. I got him inside but after a couple of minutes he wanted out again. -
No worries. The real puppy pens cost $100+ so the Bunnings bins are a bargain!
-
The crate is just a wire crate. I was given mine. Lots of people seem to have got theirs from Deals Direct. The pen is a wire compost bin from Bunnings! They cost $26.

Well done LP

I have crate trained the last 3 pups I've had. Mainly because they have to be crated at dog school when I am teaching. This time I have had my pup in her pen/crate rather than chasing her around the house. It has worked great and she loves being in there. The pen gives her extra room rather than just being in a crate. If I just need her inside and safe I just stash her in there. She has been in a fair bit over the weekend as the weather has been so bad in Victoria. This is my set up.

Getting my new pup has subtly affected my older pets. My very well house trained boy decided to do some marking in the house. Poppy is a bit sulky. One cat refuses to come into the garden but appears to get on well with the pup. The Birmans were more silly than usual for a couple of days. So yes a new arrival can cause issues.

Just because a breeder is registered doesn't make them ethical. There are also different versions of ethical One person might think it is only ok for a breeder to breed when they want to keep a puppy and anything else is puppy farming. And there are always 2 sides, well 3 sides to a story. Each person's side and the truth! You just need to do your research and ask lots of questions.

If you like VAN check out Phuds. It is a very similar product. You get it from Browns Herbal http://www.browns-animal-herbals.com.au/index.php. They might be able to take out any ingredients that Tango can't have as I know they have made up feed for other people.

What about Vets All Natural?

Maybe you could arrange to just go down and hang out? That would still be nice for both of you.

What's The Most Disgusting Thing Your Dog Has Done?
JulesP replied to Dame Aussie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Brock gave me a lovely greeting one day when I got home. It involved tongue. That was fairly disgusting but it got worse. He ran back to his bed and was chewing something. On investigation it was a dead rat. Yes he was chewing on a dead rat and had stuck his tongue in my mouth! -
That sounds like a rather dramatic reaction to the heat? Is that normal for him? Can Dallies have oil? I was thinking about rice bran oil. That is great for weight gain for horses.
-
Could the ranger go around and talk to your neighbours? Does the neighbour know that you and your other dog got hurt by the cat?
-
Unfortunately if you don't totally ignore the crying all you teach the pup is that if it cries that you will come get it. Get earplugs and ignore the pup. Get up a couple of times a night and take it out to the loo, apart from that don't fuss over it. They don't keep it up for long, I promise!

Thanks Steve. Is it just for the one problem or can the person ask lots of questions in the month? I have questions about a couple of things to do with TOT and drive mainly but feel rude asking them for free on the forum.
-
Steve I was going to send you a PM about this but maybe other people would like to know as well. Could you please explain how the monthly distance consulting thing works?

Obedience Club Vaccination Requirements
JulesP replied to nadz's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My pup just had her kennel cough up her nose rather than via an injection. So you could definitely get that done separately.
