  5. ooh thanks for the link, I will read this on the bus home tonight
  6. I'd leave it for the vet but try to keep it clean. If you cut thru the quick it will be painful and there will be a bit of blood. My boy ripped his toenail off hooning around the yard - I sprayed it off with the hose (there was blood everywhere) dried it off with paper towel and then put gauze and vet tape around it to keep it clean. It grew back a little crooked but it was fine. Just kept it clean and a few days without walks. If it does keep bleeding or if you decide to cut it... you can use cornflour or cake soap to stop the bleeding if you don't have any stypic powder handy.
  7. The voice I use for D is Winnie The Pooh's voice but I'd like to think he'd sound a lot suaver
  8. I'd just pick one word for each command, maybe 'sit' in English and 'lay down' in Russian. Having different words for the same command will be confusing... and at least agree on the same hand commands
  9. aww christ that reindeer outfit is so cute SG - I see Tazzie wearing one of those next year
  10. good reminder I let D sit in the middle of the wagon and he's learnt to stick his face in front of the rear air con vents LOL I also open the windows occasionally if he's really interested in where we are going and keep water bottles/bowls

    aww such a lovely girl
  12. harm has been done, might as well clip her off again
  13. Taz, the Malt x gets washed in the bathtub with a little rubber windy shower head from the $2 shop. D, the GSD gets washed in the SIL grooming shop, he is too big for the bath and the water pressure wouldn't get thru his coat - also the HV dryer is a godsend. In summer after swimming in the river he may get a rinse out on the grass with the garden hose.
  14. Here is my magnificent boy, this is his 11th photo with Santa :)
  15. hahaha, don't worry about the probe, they are big dogs LOL If it was a wee chihuahua that would be unnerving! and yes a check up with the vet now is probably going to include more than the probe if she's slowing down. Let us know what they say.
  16. Anne I use the same one! I've heard Ester C helps the glucosamine absorb better so started using that along side the joint formula and fish oil
  17. On each daily walk we try to do a route that gives them a bit of offlead time. On weekends we do longer walks that are almost entirely offlead
  18. LOL I just meant a finger probe, the vet should do it in a normal consult time/cost Try to note what she ate the night/morning of her difficult poos and cut that out?
  19. I find if I give my boy a 'working mums meal' of canned food he'll have a soft/poo run the next day, the same with sardines. Maybe add a bit of those more frequently? What type of yoghurt are you giving her? eta: it might also be worth a trip to the vet to have a bit of a probe. When my boy was straining to poop it turned out he had anal fistulas, but his main symptom was constant licking at his bumhole. You could also try adding some mashed pumpkin
