  1. talk to the vet, you can't just stop this medication you have to wean off it and the vet can advise you on the dosage amounts
  2. Aww sorry to hear this Jo, but what great memories :)
  3. silly little pup D was definately uncomfortable when he bloated, pacing, panting, dry retching... and then in the wagon .. farting
  4. that dog is too cool for school... seeing that made me wish I lived near the beach (and wasn't terrified of sharks)
  5. sorry that ear/neck tag thing sounds ridiculous. My dog doesn't wear a collar, but he is microchipped, and as mentioned earlier has a ear tattoo which at 11 you can barely see. He's not an escape artist, thank god, and for vanity reasons I didn't like him wearing a collar. I would never think of having anything like an ear tag for him. Maybe get your sister to use a quick release collar.
  6. I wonder if they will be even able to see it when the hair grow back D has a tattoo... but it's on his ear LOL
  7. boys get a monthly wormer at the start of every month. I used to have a cute little clock that the vet gave me but when it ran out of batteries a few years ago you couldn't replace them. This way is easy, I have labeled all the sachets so if we 'think' we didn't do it we can check
  8. Thanks for sharing PM, it looked like a great day out. Should have brought the D, not too many GSDs there :) he could have worn his army print bandana :D
  9. D's only been to cafes a couple of times and usually after a walk with other dogs. If he didn't get a walk beforehand he'd be full of beans and get impatient with just sitting around... although now he's older he might just watch us. I go for a monthly brunch with my bestie and wouldn't bring him to those as outdoor seating is so limited we'd probably end up inside and then where would he go? I don't mind if others dogs go and sit quietly - don't see it much in Canberra though
  10. Maybe it's his size or the amount of hair he drops, but furbaby does not come natrually when describing the D... I actually never/rarely use the word 'fur' anyway he's still my baby boy though.. and because we have two we refer to them 'as the boys' however, the fiance refers to himself as Daddy to the boys and his Mum is Nanny.. where as I'm 'vournie' and my parents are known as Mum and Dad to my dog LOL
  11. I just read that story http://www.news.com.au/world/mothers-scream-the-dog-ate-my-babys-head-after-pet-fatally-mauls-newborn/story-fndir2ev-1226831774161 That is devastating
  12. aww that is a good idea for a website
  13. Yup, for something they NEED to have I don't dilly dally around with it - open up the throat and down it goes. For the voodoo supplements I just hope they eat them when they eat their dinner, but I'm not going to worry about those. Maybe following up with a treat would sweeten the deal
  14. It doesn't bother me that the giraffe was fed to lions (in fact that is the only good part about the story), it bothers me that a seemingly healthy animal that had plenty of options was euthanised.
  15. Yes, how about just desexing?! or selling him to another zoo....
  16. Nothing :) I loved having the D on the bed... on the rare occasion he would snore I would be like "awww.. he's so exhausted he's snoring".. then if the fianced dared snored it was an elbow in the side and a 'shut up you're snoring!!!' I let him on the bed when I was home sick last week and just loved snuggling up to him. Little Taz on the other hand loves to walk all over your sensitive bits when you least expect it.
  17. When my brother and I used to groom dogs there was a little silky (cross?) that came in called Tess, she was 20 years old and my brother was only 19! She was so small, had hardly any hair.. or teeth! We'd wash her straight away and then tidy up her feet/fringe/nails and bum and leave her on some warm towels near where we were grooming until her owners came to get her. Sometimes we'd ask them to wait as it was a lot of stress looking after something that small and old!
  18. Congratulations! I've always thought you were here before me ;-)
