  1. Very interesting, I can't remember dreaming about the D until after he died. The dreams always have a good vibe about them
  2. sprinkle some cheese on it? I found my old boy would eat that and then figure he was already at the bowl and would eat his chopped up raw steak tin food would work too
  3. I was using large puppy pads under my dogs cushion cover - they were very effective He would only wet himself if he had a big day with no naps so really less than 5x, but it was much better to only wash the cover than the very thick pillow
  4. omg puppy sid is SO CUTE!!!
  5. I think that is a fantastic idea, I always get very emotional about military animals... well any service animals really. eta: hrmm the AWAMO says on their page the the AWM has released purple poppy's but I can't see any official reference to that http://awamo.org.au/purple-poppy/
  6. It is certainly something to look into and it was surprisingly 'cheap' in my area
  7. My GSD sliced open his foot on some glass in a river (assholes) - gauze and vet tape that I kept in the dog first aid kit in the car did the trick until we got to the vets and then it was similar there
  8. ^^ a zoom groom is great for scrubbing in the tub
  9. you reverse clip them with a #10, completely unnecessary. I would only clip a double coated breed if it was too old to stand for proper grooming.
  10. I echo Kavik's advice - don't clip him Even if you had an 'arctic' breed you wouldn't clip them as their coat is insulation from heat and cold. Just follow common sense: don't walk them in the heat of the day, provide shade and fresh water.
  11. just mix conditioner with water :) half/half or 1 part condition 3 parts water Also you can beat a nice warm bath, slathering with conditioner and sitting with it on for 5min at least and then a force dryer when blowing coat
  12. can you put a chair or footstool in front of it? our pet door in the laundry door locks, but I'm absent minded so I just put the washing basket in front of it if I want to keep the little dog out when mopping floors so then I can easily see that it's 'locked' and open it later
  13. Is your Mum picking up the stuffing? D loves a good disembowelment, and I'll shove it all back in and let him do it again
  14. It is safe to keep GSDs with little dogs. As a pup they might be rambunctious and not know their own size - I remember my boy sitting on my very small cat because he has no idea what his bum is doing (still doesn't.) Maybe you should look into an older dog? Here is my boy with his little buddy that he lives with (the beige dog) and the two little girl dogs he hangs out with weekly.
  15. As a groomer - the best thing I can recommend for undercoat is a force dryer! When my GSD starts to blow coat I don't even bother raking it out: a warm bath, a soak in conditioner and a dryer do most of the work. Which is what will be happening this weekend with the weather change! :)
  16. Yonjuro - with a husky you'd have more luck using a rake for shedding undercoat Sorry, can't help with the shelti too much except to say a comb would be good for getting right down to the skin
  17. Mim - I haven't really thought that far ahead, but will keep them in mind :)
  18. a little mini GSD, sorta! Well that's how I'm selling it for when I can't handle a big dog
  19. I dunno if people judge me (no one has said anything to me), but I silently judge others. ;-)
  20. My GSD has never cocked his leg (well maybe once by accident...) he is almost 12. And yes, he pees on his front legs as well sometimes!
