Water Additive for Tartar control
Papillon Kisses replied to PANDI-GIRL's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I haven’t seen the leave on gel, I just buy the water additive. Yes, it is bright green! It can also have some floating particles which are not a concern. Well done with wiping with gauze! -
When it comes to at-home care, toothbrushing beats everything.

Does RC have a suitable kidney diet she could try? Or they could have a veterinary nutritionist formulate a home cooked diet? http://www.massey.ac.nz/massey/learning/colleges/college-of-sciences/clinics-and-services/veterinary-teaching-hospital/vet-referrals/vet-referrals_home.cfm

It did zilch for us too but ditto on others swearing by it. There is a money-back guarantee that I found out about too late. Keep the receipts and claim within the required time period if unsuccessful!

You could ask your vet about trying Hills B/D and dementia meds.

• Adaptil - diffuser or collar, but buy online from a reputable/authorised stockist (not eBay) as it’s very expensive otherwise • An experienced force free behavioural trainer to help desensitise/counter condition to triggers and reduce anxiety in general (check PPGA or Delta websites) • There is a lot of environment management you can do too - trainer/vet can help with this • Anti-anxiety medication if needed - may need to see a vet with further training/quals in behaviour medicine if beyond the expertise of their GP vet. With generalised anxiety/noise phobia I think they’d be more likely to try something like Fluoxetine first rather than a benzo. Do not give meds alongside supplements without vet clearance. • I assume a slew of tests includes blood tests to screen for other illnesses that may cause/contribute to anxiety. Malcolm has generalised anxiety disorder, noise phobia and canine OCD. I did a lot of DS/CC to noises, but medication has absolutely been necessary and has improved his quality of life dramatically. I wish I knew he needed it sooner. This Ridgie is blessed to have owners helping with her anxiety.

Put up a second fence or otherwise block where the neighbour can get his hand through. See a force free behavioural trainer with expertise in aggression cases. Check up at vets to rule out other contributing illnesses - including bloods. See a veterinary behaviourist. Tell neighbour steps you are taking and ask him not to put hands near fence while you sort out a better barrier. And check your PMs in a minute or so. -

Treatment is available for canine cognitive dysfunction so if your vet is unaware - see someone who is.

Hi Valerie, May I suggest looking at online Australian pet pharmacies to see if you can find the medication cheaper. Your vet may be able to write you a script to fill elsewhere. They may charge a script writing fee (as there is still work involved) but this may reduce your costs considerably if it’s an option. Ones I know of are: Petceutics The animal pharmacy Ovedhorseandpetstore Pet Chemist There will be others I can’t recall. Just make sure it’s a proper Australian pharmacy not overseas etc.

Where do you buy your Protexin?
Papillon Kisses replied to westiemum's topic in General Dog Discussion
True! That’s why I do the whole cart thing including calculating shipping cost. For a recent order one company was (mildly) cheaper until they wanted $17 for shipping. I usually end up buying from Budget who have free shipping if there are flea/tick/worm products in the purchase or if the order is over $49. My most recent order would have cost $30+ more with VNPD. VNPD must not have cornered the market for Malkie products. -

Whenever I need to do an order I run my purchases through different websites to see who will be the cheapest. Vet n Pet Direct are always one of the most expensive, so it’s interesting that others find them competitive. I used to shop with them before other companies came on the scene. -
I remember that photo too! She is a doll. Sending love to you and Jeune.

Budget Pet Products... hopefully they are not your QLD provider. -
Back to the vet - might need another course of antibiotics.

This is what I would do. Adaptil diffuser or collar - buy online from a reputable/authorised stockist eg Budget Pet Products, Pacific Pet supplies (NOT eBay - ineffective overseas product) or have pet store match same. If she’s hiding in her crate all the time put diffuser by that. If your mum can put a collar on her could try that but she seems too scared for close contact. Positive reinforcement trainer with behaviour experience - let me know if I can help find one in your area. Do not see a balanced trainer / trainer who uses aversives! Vet with interest in behaviour medicine or ideally a vet behaviourist. Again let me know if I can help. Definitely have a vet check to make sure nothing else is contributing (endocrine issues, pain, etc - run bloods). And in the meantime, keep making her world small and try to avoid her anxiety triggers (I know many will be unavoidable!).
