I think you might run into problems that way. Surely it would need to be in your name as the registered owner? And if it was in their name then they’d have to be the ones paying for bills and lodging claims? More research and consideration required!

Great post Scrappi. Samantha, it would be worthwhile having a checkup at the vet to make sure there aren’t any dental issues at play. Also just a good idea in general when you have a new pup or dog. You might also like to join the Canine Enrichment group on Facebook for more ideas about feeding her food in a way that exercises her brain, is fun, and slows down her eating.

We are thinking of buying or fashioning some stairs for Malcolm and I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations and/or tips? I’ve gone through past posts but they’re all pretty old. We don’t have a problem with him jumping onto the bed as he sits for permission, but he launches himself off if we don’t swoop him up in time. It’s a height of about 62cm... quite a lot of them stop at 30 or so? Thank you!

Apparently dogs can feel the change 2 hours before a storm arrives. If it’s on the 256km radar it’s approximately 2 hours away. Might help with the timing.

Panto, it’s designed to be left on. Something about requiring several hours to be diffused properly. FAQ here: https://www.adaptil.com/uk/Adaptil/FAQ VBs specifically say not to put the diffuser oil onto a bandana. It has a different makeup and is not designed for that purpose. Sorry!

A TTouch wrap could be tried instead of the coat or simply a T-shirt tied tightly. Adaptil: recommended 3 month trial. If diffuser doesn’t help try collar and vice versa. I don’t think it is safe to put the spray into a diffuser as I’ve been advised by a VB that it is not safe to put the diffuser contents onto a bandana. They are different formulations. Diffuser and collars cheaper to buy online, but buy from a reputable/approved stockist e.g. Budget pet products, pet circle (more listed on Adaptil website) as there are inferior knockoffs and overseas variants that have less of the active ingredient. The spray can only be purchased from vets. Hope this helps.

It did not happen to my dog, but it’s common for there to be some initial side effects, just like humans when first starting anti-depressants. They may feel sleepy, out of sorts, lose their appetite. Speak to your vet if you are concerned. Where you live may be a factor too. If you’re somewhere where there are a lot storms then it would be understandable that a dog may need daily medication.
