  2. How could anyone put their dogs through that, disgraceful!
  3. oh give up. My parents had pekes around 30 years ago as pets. Winston was as heavily coated as the BIS winner. Same. My grandparents bred and showed BIS winning Pekingese in the 70's and they were as fully coated as this dog. :)
  4. Ta Pers. I have spoken to the vet and he seems to think she has a slipped disc in her neck. He's checked all her vitals, (temp, heart, gums etc) and all is well there, but she just wants to lay on her side and not move. She is also in obvious pain when she does try to move, yelping out and crying. He is going to do xrays today and we have to call back at 3pm. Poor old girl. When I was there today and she was out the back, the neighbours dogs were barking and her mate Bear, (the shep) was running along the fence barking at them. Tess was bright eyed and had her ears pricked, but she just couldn't get up to walk, letalone run to join in, like she used to. I am also curious to know how it happened... I know a few months ago, while my brother was out walking her she was jumped on and attacked by an unrestrained dog. One much bigger than her. She did have a little gash at the back of her neck and although I mentioned taking her to the vet and reporting it at the time, they insisted she was fine. The way they were carrying on when they called though - I half expected her to be ripped to shreds when I arrived, but she seemed ok. A little quiet but ok. I didn't see her much after then, until she fell ill with the pyo. But according to my brother afterwards, ever since she was attacked she was a different dog and didn't want to go for walks anymore. (probably because she was in pain )There were also a few times that he only had to touch her and she'd start yelping. I am not saying this is the cause because I don't know if it is, I am just trying to get a clearer picture of what's been going on in the lead up to this. I mentioned it to the vet when I spoke to him and he says, they can slip a disc simply by pulling too hard on the lead when being walked. But Tess never, ever pulls on the lead. It will be interesting to see what the xray shows up. I am keeping everything crossed for her, she's been through enough already. My girl also currently has a slipped disc, but hers is in the lower back. We think she may have injured herself while playing with her son. She lost almost complete mobility in her hind legs. We had xrays done and she is now on complete crate rest for 8-12 weeks. She's also having acupuncture treatment and massage therapy. She has improved greatly, but still a way to go. She's only five.

  13. [ Article was interesting but I couldn't get passed those horrible cropped ears in the photos section. shudder For photos of extreme dogs, I recommend: dogshowpoop.blogspot.com Personally, I'm more grossed out by coiffure than ears that have been tampered with. But then, I'm not into cosmetics and I would never own a long haired dog. Some of those dogs are stunning
  14. Alvin, you naughty boy, causing your family all that worry! Great news that he his home safe and sound! :)
  15. Slightly off topic, but those of you who keep desexed and entire bitches together, does desexing have any effect on how they get along together? I have two entire girls here who generally get along well, but become a bit snarky with each other when they are coming into season. Just wondering if I were to have one desexed (no longer being shown) and leave the other entire (until she is finished in the show ring), would this cause further problems between them? EFS
