Glad he is home, hope he is 100% back to normal soon.

My girl was not tattooed when she was desexed. I just assumed all vets did that until she came home with "blank" ears.

Yah for Cassie Doesn't that mean you should have a photo of her with a ribbon or something? -
We had a rescue Cocker who had repeat ear infections. The vet mentioned if they didn't clear up, he might need surgery to open up the ear canal. As a consequence of this he would be deaf in that ear but he was pretty hard of hearing anyway from the ear infections by then. Anyhow they put him under GA and gave his ears a really good flush. Then we had drops etc every day for three or four weeks to be 100% sure the infection was gone. Finally as a preventative measure, we had to clean his ears out twice a week with (i think) epi otic He also benefited from a change in diet. However it was "deep cleanse" that made the difference for Elliot.

Agree with the others, I'd be happy to leave them be and see what happened.

Years back, my GSD boy did not drop his second testicle which is not 100% confirmed until 6 months. The breeder was very helpful during the waiting period and when it was decided that Muncher would never develop "a full set" she offered me a choice of returning him for another puppy or having a refund of half his purchase price to pay for his desexing. That was very reasonable of her IMHO. Note: this was back in the days when bitches were spayed but dogs generally were left entire....

Another vote for the D1000 here. We have 3 of them, which have survived not only Miss Jatz the german destroyer, but a fair few fosters (including the odd lab) My red one has holes in two corners, but the cream two are fine. Somehow, the red material feels "stiffer" and it rubbed against the crate and finished up with holes in two opposite corners.

Mine two are currently on Eukanuba, but they won't eat the GSD formula. They are both very picky eaters. Thinking about switching them to either Advance or Royal Canin.

One thing that has changed a lot since I was growing up is how much exercise puppies should have. My parents lived on a property and our dog pack averaged around 5. We never keep puppies away from the big dogs. We expected that if they were tired they would go and sleep it off (applied to both adults and puppies) It is interesting that now having two puppies is seen as having the potential to lead to rough play that can cause injuries. What happens when humans aren't around?

Good point botheration. As a foster carer, we have had our fair share of labs dumped in the pound around the 6 - 8 month mark, most likely because of their destructive tendencies. My coffee table has a chewed corner as testament to this. In fact one of the rescue organisations I fostered for would only let lab "teenagers" go to homes who had owned a lab before because she knew then that the owners had a clear picture of what they were taking on. To the OP, good luck with your decision. EFS

Mine don't get the runs, but one always has to stop for #2 when out walking. The girl never seems to need a poo stop.

Following on from this post, can anyone add more information about Endurance? Know about Endurance with horses, but not with dogs.

Where is this located? Have a feeling it is not Sydney.

Because you can watch TV and your dogs can't? Have been told to feed my dogs frozen bones as a way of keeping them occupied for longer.

Hi Rob Seems like you have yourself in an unhappy situation there. In all honesty, it sounds like your family is not ready to accept a dog, especially not a GSD puppy. How about having a nice calm discussion with them? As you have found out, you can't make your wife be interested. It may in everyone's best interests if this puppy is rehomed. (runs off to don flame suit) Where did you buy your puppy from?

I'm sorry, but Desmo's deafening squealing, wailing, howling and barking when poor Chopper was trying to have his turn was WITHOUT QUESTION the worst carry-on of the day He was not impressed at being left in the car while all the other dogs had their turns, but none of you would have been able to hear anything for the rest of the day (indeed the rest of the week once your eardrums had burst) if I'd kept him down on the field with me. We had a wonderful time and I feel inspired! Thanks again Was lovely to catch up with "old" friends too And thank you for taking my place on short notice - glad you had fun (although Desmo may disagree on that score by the sound of things)

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it, but PixieOfWrath will be taking my place. That will give you all a chance to meet Desmo, the famous stamp dog.

Sounds like the way to go for me too, just a bit expensive with multiple dogs. With the GSDs, I find that unless you go against the hair the water runs off the top and next to their skin stays dry.
