strangles isn't rare. Usually the abcess bursts under/between their jaw.

Whippets noses are generally pink at birth and colour up over the next few weeks/months. I noticed something interesting with the first litter I bred though. Of the 7 surviving puppies, I kept 3 from birth to hand raise on formula and sent 4 away to be fostered on another whippet bitch. When I went to visit the foster pups at around 2 weeks old they all had almost fully pigmented noses but my little formula fed ones still had mostly pink noses. They eventually all coloured up just fine but the formula fed ones took alot longer.

Can I Take Another Dog To The Melbourne Show
Kirislin replied to Gamby's topic in General Dog Discussion
Years ago I used to just take my pet dogs to the Melbourne show, no one commented. Dont think you'd be allowed to now. -
Poor little puppy I feel for the new owners and you too. Like you say, at least it was quick for the little one.

Now I know why I have whippets I saw a very funny video on that show last Saturday of a dog wallowing in mud and thought of this thread. I've had a look on youtube and although didn't find that particular video there's lots of others. http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=YMf4Hc4oN_g&...feature=related http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=t8B3CiWvHQA&...feature=related http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=0CjzN4_KOh8&...feature=related http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=y9wY4BdsnX0&...feature=related http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=kvEmgWALj9g&...feature=related One thing it really shows to me is a dogs sense of fun.

Comfy Nest, Thanks To A Baaaadd Dog!
Kirislin replied to poodlemum's topic in General Dog Discussion
awww how considerate of you. I always chuck the hair from my mares brush in the paddock for the maggies to line their nests with. -

camera shop, or online through camera sellers but dont just go rushing out and buy the first thing you see because you like the photos here. Have a think about what you want and do some research. There's tons of threads in here of people asking what sort of camera they should buy. Just have a bit of a look. Rough starting price is probably around $500 and go up from there, the sky is the limit.

Yes, that's the one, but I still cant make out what is going on with it. why does it look all bendy. where's the foot? It looks like some weird sock puppet

OOH! they're very interesting looking old books. mind telling what they are, especially the one with kangaroos on it. I love old books.

what's the funny looking thing coming off the spotty lambs back leg in the photo on the second row, and second from left?
-
how cute they are! are they yours? Was the father black? haha sounds like I am talking about a human I always remember my mother telling me as a kid (many many years ago) that black lambs were killed. Lucky for them the arts and crafts movement and hobby farmers have changed all that. Cheeky little thing jumping all over mummy like that.

Far from it. Although the lack of cutsie dog jumpers and designer beds will no doubt draw negative responses from some. Excellent videos and a must see for those who treat their dogs like little people I think. OK, I need to clarify, I wasn't saying they are puppy farming them, I cannot see the video, I was asking, that's all. I dont know how well they are being cared for because I cannot see it.

No, anyone with any camera can go in!

that is so dreadfully sad. Dear little girl. I am so sorry.

the cameras are DSLRs probably mostly either Canon or Nikon, but all the shots here were taken using the 50mm lens. It gives you that amazing sharpness of the subject and depending on your setting the lovely shallow depth of field that makes the background blurry.

Greiving Bitch - Any Hints?
Kirislin replied to Weinvy Weimaraners's topic in General Dog Discussion
Never been through it but I think I'd be inclined to leave them with her for a while until she realises they're dead. Poor girl, poor little pups. -
How awful. I hope some big bruiser meets him in a dark alleyway and dishes out some punishment then.
-
Yes I saw this on another forum and one of the people there is about to fly a pup tomorrow with Continental ;) they've got the worst record of all. I hope it will be OK.

I wonder if it's related to this dog nom nom nom nom. sorry redangel, couldn't help myself.

Hey, this dog reminds me of the one in the article here. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?s=&a...t&p=4721415 ;)

no wonder I couldn't find your thread, I was looking in photos, would never have thought to look in dog rescue
-
Yep, I found that out. How did you work it out in the first place. It's more tedious now than it was before. I wonder if we are missing something, you'd think they'd make it easier not harder.

thanks Toks, I'll give it a try.
