  1. Found this in my news feed. Many could have been easily preventable. Most are a result of humans mishandling dog ownership/responsibilities. read more here
  2. Taken it out n about a fair bit lately. Im a convert. Before I always travelled with pain killers because I usually ended up with a headache by days end. Now I dont get headaches. Obviously the strap weight on my neck wasnt doing me any favors.
  3. What a gorgeous poochie. Love the scruffy coats!Looks like a real sweetie MM
  4. When I was eight a dog I knew all my life had to be put to sleep. I was not allowed into the room. It didnt upset me any less though as I cried for days. Actually I was upset because having not been there & having the imagination of an eight yr old I saw the most painful scene in my head which may have panned out to my reckoning. When I later was present at a euthanasia that inner fear was consoled. As a parent I have always tried to make the passing of a pet the 'circle of life" theory for my kids. I have from the time I thought them capable explained death & euthanasia of a pet...and given them the option of how much they wanted to see. When my daughter asked to see at ten our old dog that passed in the night I let her, I didnt want her to imagine something that was not the case. I was there to be strong for her & hold her/. When we lost our Dobe to a torsion as it was an emergency I explained to the kids why they couldnt come & that there was a chance our dog might not make it. I left them in the care of a grandparent, as I was not in the presence of mind to be a comfort for the kids. Kids need reassurance and someone to be confident and strong when they are distressed. So pleased you were there for this girl. She will remember your kindness.
  5. After having my speedlite officially declared dead this scene in Fed square helped make me smile on my Melbourne trip. I assume it depicts being dogged by paparazzi
  6. I love this shot because I could never resist the temptation to flatten the mosquito rather than photograph it. LOL Still cant find them attractive in any way though.
  7. I have been officially told my speedlite will not be able to be resurrected unless I spend $$$$. Advised Id be better off investing in a new one as my model has been superseded for a few years. I have looked around. I see aftermarkets are much cheaper, and yes I realise you get what you pay for....but I have blown my camera budget for 12 mths and I was looking for a temporary fix. Am I kidding myself should I just suck it up & wait for a genuine??
  8. Hungry anyone? Getting ready for cosplay Cosplay Vesper-like bike in the city. Wanted to try different looks. Not sure which I prefer, both have elements I like & dislike. And Im a bit of a wuss when people are walking into shot...street photos intimidate me  or
  9. I was feeling particularly watched today as I made lunch. Day 7 of diet and its becoming clear to Rosie the idea to diet the dog was clearly not given enough consideration from her perspective.
  10. I have one, but her motivation is different. Rosie will rush at a window barking like a zombie has just popped up & then calmly take over the warm spot on the couch that everyone has evacuated to check on whats going on outside. She knows this works also for stealing bones momentarily left behind by those checking out where the zombie went.
  11. When I was a child we used to clip the poodles on the back porch...after spring we would find all these bird nests with poodle linings. Looks like the house proud birds in your neighborhood are about to update their furnishings.
  12. A treat to see your photos KJA. Gorgeous! That shrimp has the most amusing eyes! ...and frogfish what can I say, he is leaning up against that sand tower and posing as if he was a magazine model draped on a car!
  13. Rosie likes to 'gift' things for attention. She will run around looking for a present & give it to me as a reward for patting her. I get pens, pieces of paper, socks ,ruler..... If she really likes someone visiting she will gift them as well. My sons GF came over for the first time the other night for dinner....and afterward when she sat on the couch Rosie "gifted' her a sock. At first the GF didnt notice the gift in Rosies mouth...but Rosie will grunt like a piglet until the giftee takes it from her. You will then be presented with a smile (half one because Rosie lifts one side only aka Elvis sneer) My best gift to date is a twenty buck note. Rosie!
  14. My silence is definitely not for sale redangel, not at any price. They won't gag me! Something good has to come from the huge price my beautiful boy paid.I just have to make sure I do it the right way so it counts. His mates are missing him too Here here Cazstaff! I can only imagine how you feel at the moment, but i know the pain of the silly little things you notice are not the same, things you never thought were so important to why they made you smile while they were around. Every dog is so special as much as they are different. Hugz to you. I know finding the right way is important, and when you find it I hope you achieve much. Edit add: Im glad you have these photos and appreciate you sharing them...I know the klennex must be flowing ( I think the DOL community has shared some over the past few days) indeed Buddy was so happy and much loved.
