  1. Fine print says that there will be no adoptins on the day, and that you need to visit the shleter and apply for adoption, which I see as a good thing. Though, I can see a lot of broken hearts for the humans who miss out on "their" pooch.

  3. ideas from left field that my dogs love.... twisties! and hot chips (well, cold) and prawn heads! None of these are regular things, but will appear occasionally if I want to reward some special.

  8. Yes, random question, but it is actually dog related. Hubby and I are thinking about looking at a Mazda 6 Classic, but we need to be able to get a large crate in the boot (collapsed). Crate length is 120cm. anybody happen to own a Mazda 6 and can tell me the measurement across the lip of the boot? Thanks in advance.

  12. Love how the grehound? (whippet?) has still claimed the couch
  13. So hard isn't it. Not dismissing hankdog at all... what a terrible expeience. To my very inexperienced eye, it looks like when one of our dogs had a histiocytoma (sp)... which is benign and usually self resolves in ~ 6 weeks... freaked me out because it initially grew rapidly... vet diagnosed with a fine needle biopsy.
  14. I will not name the specific event, but it was neither of these types. Lots of dogs. please understand that I am a huuuge supporter of adopted greyhounds and the greenhound scheme. It was unfortunate situation, but I do not think it is right for me to discuss it further here. sorry, I have taken your thread OT.
  15. yes there are a few dodgy rescues saying their dogs don't have to be muzzled. Yes there are and it gives me the irits big time. Not only is it illegal and dangerous but bloody insulting to people that do the right thing and PAY to have their dogs properly assessed. One rescue in particular are doing it all the time, no prizes for guessing who it is can you PM me the name of the greyhound rescue. our dog was attacked by an adopted greyhound at an event. too late for me to do anything about it (owners were good and paid vet bills, but I didn't want to ask who they adopted from). I am only asking as I like (financially) supporting greyhound rescue, and because of what happened, I want to make damned sure I don't support this rescue. Thankfully our dog is now fine, apart drom being reactive to flies.
  16. Yep, another one here with a dog allergic/sensitive to oatmeal shampoos. I normally use Pyohex (sp), or the "Natural Shampoo" made by the same people. If I use any oatmeal shampoo, she breaks out in itchy bumps on her belly.
  17. Not sure where you are in NSW, but you could try Animal Referral Hosptial... they specialise in boarding for dogs with medical conditions, etc, and I believe that they are open to discussion the requirement for C5 vaccination, depending on the dog's medical condition/health.
  18. It's probably a long shot, but perhaps try Farmer Dave at Australian Canine Sports and Training Centre... link is... http://www.lovesdogs.com.au/
  19. I can relate to this  The number of times I have been out walking our girl (deerhound cross something, we think), and heard "oh, a lurcher, can I have pat, please?" And I've replied, yes, of course, and are you English? Which always amazes them. I explain that I have only ever come across English calling our mixes lurchers (confused me the first time!). Always have a good chat and yep, they definitely love their lurchers. Sorry to take thread OT.
  20. You know doubt trust your specialist, but is it possible to perhaps seek a second opinion from another specialist?

  24. After having one dog tear dew claws three times in an 18 month period, we opted to have them removed... she had also torn them at least twice previously. Yes, it was a large operation, and no doubt painful, but we had to balance that against her continuing to tear her dew claws. And when I say teat, I am not talking about merely a broken nail. She would tear them down basically to the "joint"... at least twice she tore them so badly that they had to sedate her to remove the nail. Oh, and always tore them late evening... still no idea how!
  25. I have not used this company, but did receive a prompt reply when I made an enquiry. http://www.customcages.com.au/
