  1. brilliant news, how have you found it so far? scary? mase gone in today for the cushings test, but being as how he has all the symtoms expecting he worse
  2. you always go beyond what others would do for the little and the sick, thinking of you
  3. i have alwys used sentinal on my dogs, i like it as they swim in the lake everyday, it also covers heartworm so easy. however got a new bully a few weeks ago and he had flea's, so i gave him a capstar, i also gave the other 2 one, just to be sure, my dally had the runs for 2 days, and cattle vomited twice. the vet told me spot on's were best, so i looked at them all, and have ordered revolution, as it does them all too. so going to give the bt that, and keep the other 2 on sentinal, bully doesn't swim
  4. 12 years ago i chose to do both, when i came from the uk. i had a 14 year old bitza who needed very expensive daily meds. he came from rescue as a pup, i could have sent him back, but they told me he wouldn't get adopted, and it wasn't fair for him to spend his days in a kennel. i had already tried for months to find a home, with no luck. the day before we left my oh took him to the vet i also had an old bt, again, not fit enough to fly here, but i did rehome her to a really good friend who adored her. she lived another 2 years. she got spoilt rotten.
  5. appollo my 9 year old dally had them, i have to say i didn't really see any difference he has djd in hip and knee at back. however he has been on jointguard for just over 4 weeks, building it up atm, and i can definatley see an improvement in the last week or so. i was told by someone her vet recommended the human joint supplement though, osteoease sport?
  6. thankyou for all the info which vet at b'hills is it? when i take him monday, will they know by the end of the day? or is it sent away? should i then request an ultrasound aswell if positive?
  7. i have just found out my bully may have cushings, so came here for info i have only had mason for 3 weeks, he is a rescue, and is 8. when he arrived he seemed to have a skin problem, so i took him to the vets, we had meds, antibiotics, and quartazone, but it got worse. yesterday i took him back, but he is displaying cushings symptoms, pants alot, drinks alot, taught big belly, starving all the time, skin bad, vet did a blood test, she has just rung, enzyme count is over 1000, should be just over 100, so she thinks it is cushings. he is booked for monday for the cushings test. she told me it is a very expensive condition to treat, said meds were around $800, is this right? kelly, which specialist do you use? are the meds really that costly? pm me if you prefer.
  8. i walk 2 on the left, and one on the right. 2 on the left know their spot, and don't cross, or they get stepped on one on right is new, and still learning his place. i do sometimes put my cattle, who is on the inside left onto a belt round my waist if i am going for a big road walk, he is really good ,and stays by me anyway, so free''s up my hand for my dally.
  9. yep, freakin next door neighbours letting rockets off in the road at 12 my dally and new bully terrified, went out and called them f@@KIng inconsiderate bastards!!! won't be popular today i hate them, every year they do it, and the bunch the other end of the road do aswell. brought the boys inside till it was over. i just wanted to sleep would love to have woken them all up this morning with a bang
  10. 3 months seems ok, i thought the containers looked very small online, he would need 2 scoops, going on his weight, how many do you use?
  11. didn't know that. will look into it before i get any. so far it seems , jointguard has glucasomine, chondriotin, and msm, but no green lipped extract, which is the anti inflam. sasha's blend has the grenn lipped extract, but not the others. glyde has all except msm.so far looking the best.
  12. anyone use glyde, and does it last long? have been looking, and its $74 for 360grms. went to health store today, and i can get green lipped muscle extract for $19, and a supplement which has glucosamine, chondriotin, and msn for $59, and it was a huge container. bought fish oil tabs, will start them anyway, just wondering which way to go.
  13. thanks, i have been reading up on it, and glyde seems the way to go, but can you give glyde and msm? or not both needed? am going to health store to see price if i buy them seperatley ,as glyde is not cheap, although site in link is definatley the cheapest.
  14. big thankyou saw some msm today at chemist, nature's gift i think it was, but going to try health shop tommorrow. where do i get glyde and technyflex from? is it human or pet meds. my chiro has an acupunturist at his place, might call and see if they know an animal one. his weight is actually good, but vet said it would help if he was skinny. no jumping off couches, he's outside, and even at storm time he gets more anxious comming inside, after 9 years he just is much happier outside. he has padded beds and sheepskin in his kennels, they have 3 to choose from, and soft beds on the tramp beds, all undercover with roll down blinds, so completley out of elements, they also use the garage. will look at the foam underlays though too. i am really finding it very hard to take in, appollo is my rock, has always been as fit as, he chases rabbits, lives for his walks. to think his time is limited is hard.
  15. thanks, he had his first injection tonight, figured it couldn't hurt. not sure after the first week of inflamatory's how often he will need them, think i just need to see how he is. will look into the sash's blend etc. vet didn't push the surgery, it was only when i asked about doing anything, she thought it was probably not going to help him. how often do you need to get the injections? vet said yearly, or longer sometimes. however he does live outside, so maybe more often.
  16. after my 9 year old dally seemed to be "swaying" when he walked, and yelped when he was knocked into by my other dog i took him today for x-rays. the vet has diagnosed djd. in his left hip, and knee. he was given anti inflams for a week( carprofen). and advised to have a course of 4 injections, ( pentosan). she did say he could be operated on, but costly, and may not help. she also suggested i try jointguard. so advice please , does jointguard work? do the injections help? anyone had surgery? any advice would be appreciated, i have no idea how quickly this will spread. his weight is good, although she said he could drop a little bit.

the hardest thing i have ever done i hope you are free and chasing rabbits and birds allday, will miss you my supermodel
  18. i always tell people to write a list, what they must have, and things they are negiotable on. ie, inside or outside, how often will it get walked, and tell them not to lie, be honest. then stick to it. if people chose breeds more wisely, sure it would make a difference, there are lots of breeds i like ,but can't own, as they don't suit my lifestyle.
  19. i feed 2 of mine supercoat adult, and 2 supercoat special care. my dally has had stones, so needs a low purine diet, which is no red meat, my wei gets skin allergy's. they both do really well on special care, only problem is they have just stopped making it i am amazed at the amount of food that says "rice and chicken" on the front, then you look at the ingredients, and it has meat by products including beef in them. i am going to try optimum, its the only one at a reasonable price with no red meat.
  20. so sorry trish, she reminded me so much of girldog, i wish too i had had her longer, known more about her etc,i still keep her collar hanging up. grandma dogs have a habit of making a big impression on us ;) i'm sure she chose her moment to give you least worry. take care
  21. my dally has supercoat special care, so hope they aren't stopping it i was tols they were stopping only the puppy line. he has had crystal "stones" removed after causing a blockage, so has to be on a low purine diet. :D
  22. after seeing sash at her worst, and then again today, i can vouch for the treatment she is a happy bouncy pup, she could barely walk up the steet before, it was a pitiful site. so glad she is doing so well, such a gorgeous dog
  23. already posted in general, but i know of one who had it done 2/3 weeks ago
  24. omg so sorry kaz, had no idea take care, will be thinking of you
  25. hi neighbour so sorry , after going through the same with your gsd, and then doing all the right things searching for a healthy goldie pup sash is such a happy beautiful dog, she really is, i would do anything for her too. londonderry isn't that far from us, or, you could take her down to the lake. there is the concrete overflow bit, you can walk along the side, and let her swim up and down, depends if you mind her being smelly and mucky my lot go in everyday. take care
