  1. my dally is on supercoat special care, as he can't have red meat etc, due to stones forming. dallie's don't digest protein properly. he does very well, on very little! however, i was feeding my other 2 on the ordinary supercoat, and they had loads each day ,and didn't look good, so they are now on bonnie, feed less, and their coat is shiny and glossy
  2. i have the same problem too, just put a few new strips on turf down and they are yellow already  so went and bought 2 bags of dogrocks today. problem is ,you can only have 2 litre's of water to each bag of rocks, and thats not much water for 3 big dogs and they say refill, rather than empty ,( i put my old water on the plants), and they only last 8 weeks at $10 a bag, its a bit pricey. do they drink the water with vinegar in it? or is it best in their water?
  3. so sorry pix ;) don't know what to say, so sad, take care :D
  4. so sorry kaz you did good by her, the oldies are so special, i'm sure they know.
  5. i'm so sorry, i know you have not made this decision easily, he's safe now, take care. you know where i am if you need me, big hugs to you
  6. good post, however, temp testing at a pound is near impossible. perhaps people need to be more aware of their own dogs, and their reactions to sharing their home with a new dog. alot of people have no idea if their dogs are dominant, submissive, good with both sexes etc. a good knowledge of your own situation, and what you can cope with is vital
  7. so sorry dogmad, perhaps all the old girls are up there having fun together. take care, will be thinking of you. run free pip
  8. so sorry wizard, will be thinking of you. take care.
  9. you did the right thing, you were with him at the end perhaps the police were unsure what to do?
  10. i wet all mine, will go and check now ( supercoat special care, and bonnie).

    Girl Dog

it is with a very sad heart, that i had to let girl dog go to the bridge today 6 months ago she came from hp, on her way to rescue, but after we found she had 2 tumours (inoperable), she stayed with me, and became an instant part of the gang. i thought girl would last forever, she would bark at me every morning when she heard me lift the kettle, she knew i was up, and wanted her breakfast :D she wagged her whole bum ,and barked till i gave in. she sat on our front lawn watching me garden, trudged down the road for our morning walk, and chased away any young pup who didn't know its place :D but just when i thought nothing would ever faze her, she went downhill, i lost that face at the window everyday, that wish to go for a walk. she collapsed this morning, bleeding heavily, exausted and beaten. i feel honoured to have known her, i loved her dearly, and just wanted her to go on forever. may she run free, and we meet again one day. love you girl : ( thankyou to my good friend stormy ,who came straight over today when she heard )
  13. waiting for surgery hours to end to give her a call. it was definatley a season to start with, all normal to begin with, did the flipping tail to side when one of my boys had a sniff etc, just went down hill after :D she has always passed blood in her urine since i have had her, she is incontinant, due to the size of the tumour in her bladder, no room for wee. but this is like a steady drip of bright red blood.
  14. the vet has seen her several times, and had xrays, unfortunatley the tumour in her cervix is inoperable, even if we took the one out of her bladder. the vet said i was best just to let her keep going till life was to tough for her, as if she opened her up ,she would probably end up pts. she still try's to come for a walk in the morning, but i make her stay home. i love the old girl dearly, she is such a trooper. i suppose i'm scared of taking her to the vet in case its all over, she has been here almost 5 months now, and i suppose i just got complacent, thought the old boot would go on forever. i will call the vet for another chat.
  15. "girl" is my rescue from hp, she is 9/10, and at least 4 weeks ago came into season. she has been bred alot by the look of her under carraige, and came into the pound with her 12 month old daughter its been a long time since i had an entire female, so can't remember how long a season should last. hers has been very heavy, 2 weeks ago, we thought we might lose her ,due to losing so much blood, and a huge blood clot came out. i spoke to the vet, and sfter that she seemed to improve. last week the bleeding stopped and she seemed to be on the up and up, back to barking at me for breakfast but 2 days ago the drip drip of blood started again is this normal? girl has 2 tumours, one in her bladder, and one in her cervix, she is with me till she goes to the bridge. should i be worried about how long it is going on? know every female is different,. and i don't know if this is normal for her ;) tha gorgeous girl dog
  16. which one at castle hill do you go to? rouse hill is ok, but a bit small, and there is a member of the public with 2 white husky x's who are a pain in the butt, who always seems to be there at the same time, and they are really stroppy to my boys, so we just leave thats why i havn't been since. would love to catch up again. perhaps we could all make it to the next one, any idea on a date? sundays are only good for me, as i work sat.
  17. poor boy my boys would kill a cat too if they had the chance, so unfair
  18. i found this thread helpful  yesterday i started to walk my neighbours dogs while she is at work. i had more of a workout trying to get collars and leads on 2 small dogs there, whilst being body slammed by a very over enthusiastic staffy x aussie bulldog! my back is killing me today i kept lifting my knee to her, whilst telling her "down", she fell onto her back and just launched herself again i will try turning my back on her instead
  19. was going to volunteer kamuzz's robbie although it could just be me he dislikes
  20. i have posted a topic in general, and need some proffessional help i think, if anyone on here could point me in the direction of a good trainer i would appreciate it.
  21. thanks everyone, yes i do check his ph levels, he also gets a dash of bicarb in his meal every night( supercoat special care). e is prone to be a bit fat( even with 2 hours of offlead a day!), so chicken necks make him fat, and he gulps them down in one. i will look at the chicken carcasses. i suppose there is no reason why i couldn't brush his teeth, would the vet be able to tell me how? its just that i like to give them all a bone once a week, and didn't want him to feel left out, the others can have anything.
  22. urine stones is what he had, so has to have low purine food. he is not supposed to have red meat, but i thought a little on a bone would be ok now and then? was at the petshop today, and they said chicken carcasse's? would they be good teeth cleaners? never even seen one.
  23. my dally had a blockage last year( stones), and has since been on a special diet, low in purines. therefore i cut out all his bones. but on a recent trip to the vet, she said his teeth were dirty and needed a bone. so ,which bones are the best for teeth cleaning, preferably as little red meat on as poss, and how often should you give them? i was thinking ,marrow bones?
  24. so sorry dogmad, the old ones are special, as i have recently discoverd too. thinking of you
