  1. hankdog, off topic I know but have just seen a pic of Jake. He is built like a brick out house, isn't he? I had only ever seen a pic of his handsome face. Bet he takes some holding when he has a reactive moment. I can barely hold Stella & she is half the width of Jake. Very fit looking boy :)
  2. Well done Ziggy !!!! Bet your mum's proud as punch. He looks a picture of health staffyluv too after his recent illness
  3. Yes DDarling, you have a valid point there. There are a lot of mentally impaired people living on the streets. Sad but very true Least John has his little friend back. They are doing it tough though. Out in the elements. Can't help but feel for little Carrie. Not that I don't feel for John's circumstanes but dogs like little Carrie through no fault of their own as they don't have a voice are very vunerable unfortunately.
  4. Oh so pleased Carrie has been returned to John There are just some evil, cruel people around Fancy kicking poor little Carrie.... Shame on them. Wonderful outcome though. You can see how much John loves her & vise versa.
  5. So funny & yes no need for hot bottles Hankdog  You'd be warm as in amongst all those bod's If Sonny & Stella get up on our bed we need a box of tissues as all Sonny does is lick our faces & Stella likes to play bitey face with me .
  6. Same here.... Very difficult/sad situation for all concerned...
  7. Most puppies are very vocal. Growling etc. They are just being puppies. Feeling their way & investing the big new world. They have teeth like needles & yes they hurt when they bite you. My girl at 12 weeks was a terror. She would run flat out & launch herself at me growling her head off. She would bite & wasn't fussy about where. I had bark off me everywhere, my face was constantly scared/bruised as was most of my hands, back & ankles. This was her way of 'playing' with me until I redirected her with a game I wanted to play, like a ball game or alike. She soon learnt that her game wasn't much fun because I didn't react at all. I just found it best to be firm but fair & consistant. No need to raise the volume of your voice just use your tone to let him know when you are really happy & reward him. Lower your voice & don't reward when you aren't. They generally catch on really quickly. As others have said puppies have the attention span of a flea. They are going to be able to hold concerntration for 30 sec's & then it's game on or they will just run off & find something fun to do. Then in a another minute they will be fast asleep. That's puppies :) Enjoy your new family member :)
  8. We have tried it & noticed no change in behavioural issues with my girl. I do have her on meds now but she didn't go on them till in late teens. I am shocked that a 'professional' would even suggest meds at such an early age really. I would be seeking help from a behaviourist with experience in this specific area of sep. anxiety asap. Another opinion can't hurt & it may well shed some much needed insight into your boy's behaviour's. In turn you will be able to help him by learning skills/training etc. I am by no means an expert, just going by what I have experienced raising a dog with serious anxiety issues.
  9. My boy needed supplement around 8 months ago as his coat went right down hill due to a bad dry food intolerance. He just lacked his normal healthy look & had a very strange odour about him. Had the Vet check him out & came up with a clean bill of health. So I just tinkered around with his diet & he hasn't looked back. His coat has improved 100%. Now I don't know what exactly I have done to help him out, which is the key ingredient that benefits him but while ever he looks & acts so happy & well I'm going to continue with it. Thanks for your kind comments regarding my guys Westiemum :)
  10. Good advice Wobbly. I always find if you sit on the floor or get down on their level you can came across as less scary/threatening. Noob trainer alert in use here as well
  11. Poor puppies Hope they are found safely & returned to their rightful owner ASAP.
  12. My feeding routine is almost identical to yours westiemum, so I hope my guys at 12 & 14 years of age we too can get 'perfect' blood panels tests I use all human grade supermarket meat, both beef & chic bulked up with raw grated veg, broc, zucchini etc,raw egg's & Aldi sardines in oil, all mixed together for their dinner at night with a splash of omega 3 & 6. & a sprinkle of Augustines. 1/2 chic carcess or smallish meaty each day mid morning. Earthborn Holistic fish variety is kept for back up & only a small amount is given.
  13. Wonderful work with darling Bob WP. He looks so healthy now, happy & content. Many thanks for your kindness & to all other rescuer's that devote themselves to such an important, caring cause :)
  14. I have been feeding 70% raw home made food for almost 6 months now. Also adding a sprinkle of Augustines SuperBoost on top before serving. I don't get to exact with the amount. With the spoon provided I give my boy level spoon & my girl bit over half level spoon. Roughly. Plus I use greyhound Sprint oil, & cold press coconut oil everyday. My guys now have glowing coats & full of energy. Yard pick up has never been better. Next to no odour either. They both still have a very small amount of dry food, Earthborn Holistic fish variety. Very happy camper's here atm :)
  15. I just ordered some from Peperone pet supplies. Have order some in the past from them , excellent service & very helpful
  16. Hmmm, yes I was just wondering if it was all a bit "much" for such a young puppy. My 2 don't know half those tasks as adults. Obviously her owner has trained her intensely to get results like that. I hope it doesn't make this puppy sour of it in later life perhaps. I think she has done a terrific job with her, it is all extremely structured for one so very young. While I did teach mine basic stuff from the moment I got them home, it was all very light hearted & a couple min's max then back to running around & having fun. As others have commented there is no happy tail wagging & she seems very intense for 23 weeks. Maybe she is just concerntrating.... I don't know. I still can't get over how little she is in that last bit of the clip when she is walking out on the grass, so small.
  17. Yes, I just watched the clip again, couldn't help myself. This in the smallest, smartest & cutest bundle of fluff at an astonishing 23 weeks. WOW ! What a little pocket rocket. Heart warming connection between these 2 to reep such positve results.
  18. Super smart & adorable little girl. Her owner is doing a wonderful job training her. She's thriving on it. Beautiful to see :)
  19. From my experience, limited as it is. Male/female are almost always successful. Some boys will get along with other boys. Neutering will help in some dogs. But 2 girls together that don't get along are the worst. You will have to keep them apart for life in most cases. Once they dislike each other there is no making up. I have also heard they will fight till the end if left out together Bitches in the true sense of the word. It really comes down to the nature of each & every dog though. They are all very different. I have one of each & had my boy first. I had my eye on another boy but was advised to get a girl. In hind sight I think I would of been fine with a boy as Sonny pretty much gets on with everybody but wasn't prepared to risk it as there is no way I would jeopardise Sonny. So I got a female & they are BFF's, which is lovely. They play together all the time so I'm wrapped :)
  20. Double cuteness  Well done Sumo First show, & a win already Your such a handsome big fluffy Bet mum was very proud.
  21. Oh PD, don't know about that.... Sure she is really bright as I am sure Bear is as well. Stella is very highly strung though. I think that has lots to do with not being able to completely relax & sleep soundly at times. She's extremely sensitive to sound/noises. The slightest random noise & she jumps up, whining & running to investigate & that happens alot when you think she's asleep. So there's lots going on with her IMHO. She is the sweetest little girl. We love her to bits. She is a huge amount of dog though. Very complex. I am grateful I only have 1 of her, LOL. Love the way your Bear adores your daughter. Thats just so sweet. Wonderful for both actually. Kids that grow up around animals make nicer, much more compassionate adults IMO too. LOL, so funny the hair clips thing..... cracked me up
  22. Great news ness.. What a lovely way for Kenzie to kick off her very kindly donated UWT sessions :)
  23. Yes Danny's D, I feel so sorry any dog that suffers bad nightmares in a regular basis. It must be scarey & very tiring too. I have often thought Stella must be so exhausted when she does wake after her frequent, reaccuring dreams as she gets so upset
