  1. Congratulations !! just gorgeous.
  2. I have developed an allergy to dogs over the years ;was not so when i was younger. I have tested with a few breeds and the ones to steer clear of are the breeds with oily coats. The wire hair breeds are better but you need to bath the dog monthly and groom regularly and wash bedding frequently. Steer clear of poodle crosses ,i have so far reacted to all the several ones i have met. So far the best breed i can tolerate have been Miniature Schnauzers ; might be worth a look at. I have reacted to some poodles 'mostly males. Male dogs often have a stronger body odor than females which like in my case can trigger allergic reactions. You can also get a reaction to dogs saliva or urine. Before you get a dog let the dog sleep on or wear T shirt for a few hours and then keep it nearby for a few days to see if there is a reaction. There are lists of low allergenic dogs so look at some of them.
  3. Wow;Manchester Terriers are off my list now..
  4. Don't forget Lapphunds. For a while it was like every second dog suggested was a Lappie. "I'm after a small, short haired house dog.... "get a Lapphund!" And Poodles ''just keep them clipped short'' . :) .
  5. Not a dog I'd recommend to a novice dog owner. Tell me why so HW so i can add it to my own breed research,
  6. The Manchester Terrier looks interesting.. http://www.iams.com/dog-breed-compare#mancterr|minipins|null|null
  7. Perhaps 2 little friends together..Like Prince and Suzie on Petrescue. https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/dogs?utf8=%E2%9C%93&size[]=10&age=either&gender=either&states[]=2&postcode_distance=50&postcode=&commit=Search Don't be too worried about shedding as with regular bathing brushing and the usual amount of vacuuming it can be less of a problem than you might imagine.
  8. I have often wondered about prey drive; is it really a breed specific issue or is it more about the individual dogs temperament regardless of breed and something that can be trained in or out of a dogs temperament.? We have all heard of dogs who we would expect to have certain behaviours like fetching pointing chasing prey etc who do not do this .
  9. I worked full time when i had my Bull Terrier and had no problems with her although she did have the cat to annoy. It depends; if you can devote a lot of time to the dog when you are home that's the key. If you get home from work and are too tired to walk or interact with the dog then it would be best not to get a dog.
  10. A miniature bull terrier might work or an adult rescue as a first dog.
  11. http://www.dogzonlin...asp?name=NIRENO Litter planned feb 2016..
  12. There was/ is a nsw group called The aussie corgis group on facebook you might find info on there. All dogs are family pets even the ones at the shows.
  13. A Weimaraner..or if you can go to a groomer a few times a year then perhaps an Airedale might be worth considering.
  14. I saw this on Tv last night Sickening.I don't understand how in these modern times anyone can be cruel to animals. Do these people not have any compassion or common sense .Our country is not much better with greyhounds being shot when they are of no more use. Greyhound racing should be stopped everywhere, right now !!

  16. Thats a shame ;it wouldn't have hurt her good customer service to get someone to go and get it for you. I was wondering if it would be a dumb idea if these places like Bunnings , Ikea and major shopping centres had a separate supervised area where you could pay to leave your dog in a run with a key given to you and you could do a quick shop and not have to leave the dog home or in the car. then i guess you would get people leaving the dog there for hours or forget to come back for it but obviously there would need to be a time limit on them being there.
  17. Just because you can take a dog to a place where dogs are allowed does not mean the dog is comfortable at that particular place. I would imagine some dogs would not feel relaxed being taken into a strange building crowded with strange people and smells particularly if they can't see an exit way out.
  18. I find it odd how when a child is bitten so many assume that the child must have done something to the dog. Sometimes a dog will bite just because it wants to without any provocation. I don't believe dogs should be in shops full stop.
  19. Maybe consider a Whippet or some of the Whippet crosses from rescue would be smaller / medium size. Staghound mixes here are usually crosses with Wolfhound ,Deerhound and Greyhound and are big dogs,
  20. Is this the type you are after. https://www.petrescu...listings/403414
  21. He should be able to take the pup if only been out a few days back to the shop and get a partial refund. Then again pup would be better off out of the pet shop and in a normal environment.
  22. Oh he is just gorgeous. You are so lucky. Hope to see more pic's and news of him as he grows.
