  4. Oh i was lucky enough to meet a Leonberger pup not long ago.;would love to know more about them...
  5. Wouldn't class Irish Wolfhounds as cat friendly - they are a sight hound, if it runs they will chase. My Wolfhound x bully loved our 2 cats !....Most breeds can live with cats if raised with them even sighthounds and Terriers.
  6. Do you want a protective breed ? What amount of shedding and grooming can you manage ? Anyone in the home with allergies.? A few to consider .Labrador- Airedale - German Shepherd- Curly Coated Retriever -Irish Wolfhound .
  7. What a sweet pup;can only guess at what mix of breeds she is.She does look like a pup i saw once in a shelter that was said to be a German Shepherd x Staffordshire Terrier. If you adopt her please post more pictures of her; I can't get enough puppy pictures.
  8. An Airedale may suit them.Very smart active but also calm and robust family dog.
  9. The female Curly Coats are smaller than the males. The only other water loving breed i can think of is the Irish water Spaniel. I don't know a lot about them but you could keep one in a short clip . Perhaps an Airedale or Irish Terrier .?
  10. A GSP would be good;the one i had would have suited you perfectly.Perhaps a Curly Coated Retriever ,I like to mention them when i can as they are often overlooked.
  11. Very new to dogs. As far as pet ownership is concerned only one of them has had pets which was an elderly cat that came to live with them. --Lhok Would an English or Irish Setter suit ? DROOL!!!!! I owned an Irish setter for many years and Riley could sink the titanic in drool! Oh yeh; forgot about the drool factor.......lovely dogs . I do think people need to consider when thinking about the messier side of owning a pet that with your own you tend to put up with more mess; like having kids you change nappies or clean up sick but would rather not want to do it for others. When pets become part of the family we tend to be more tolerant of things like drool, shed hair, and the general mess that pets can create.

  13. Hard to find one that ticks all the boxes for you.Whatever breed you get consider letting the dog have access to at least part of the house through a doggie door or have a secure sheltered area so the dog can escape extreme heat and thunderstorms when you are out. Also consider a short or longer coated breed ;some only need an occasional bath and a weekly brush. Keep doing you research and look at breeds not just by looks but those that would suit your lifestyle, perhaps look at a Miniature Bull Terrier or Shiba Inu.
  14. Agreed, I'm not sure that this wasn't some sicko getting his kicks. I think he is having you on;really why would anyone give such details over the phone knowing it is a crime. If he wanted to surrender a dog he could do so at any shelter he chose without saying anything. Not if it isn't his dog to surrender... T. So why was he ringing a rescuer to take the dog;the whole thing is very odd.

  16. I would just do it.No different to having a crate or kennels on there just bigger.
  17. Or have children or not at home with the dog 24/7 as appears to be past form with this shelter.
  18. Just spoke to a BRT breeder and they know about him but are having trouble getting any info on him from the shelter .
  19. Hi everyone; There is a Black Russian Terrier at the Animal Aid Protection Society in Keysborough Victoria. He is one year old and listed as a ''Tchiorny Terrier'' He is only the second one i have ever seen in a shelter. Anyone know of a BRT rescuer who could help this fella.?
  20. Australian Shepherd Ah thanks ;I was thinking Australian Terrier.
  21. What breed are you talking about. What is an Aussie?
