  1. Hi All, Could someone please tell me what is the correct title for Supreme champion? Is it simply supreme champion or is it Australian Supreme Champion? I need to include it on some certificates. Many thanks in anticipation. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to find it on Dogs vic and ANKC web pages to not avail.
  2. I too believe there has been voting carried out and one unsubstantiated rumour says the motion cannot be approved due to the votes already placed. It is a bit hard to lobby the State bodies when we don't know anything about the matter until voting has already taken place. This is what the issue is about but as usual people are not seeing the the wood for the trees. As I understand an Electronic motion is somewhat different to a motion put at a meeting. I'm assuming, and would be happy for someone to confirm or dispell my assumption, that an electronic motion is one sent to individuals entitled to vote outside a convened meeting. Pre this technology matters to be voted on at the ANKC were submitted by/through the relevant State Canine Authority and taken to the annual (or was it biannual) ANKC meeting. If my assumption is correct does this mean there are no convened meetings of the ANKC these days? I do hope that the members of Dogs Vic will make the effort required to vote (and perhaps campaign) in the Management Committee elections coming up and remember who put this motion up. The number of voters who routinely vote is pathetic.
  3. Officeworks have a small trolley that folds flat when not in use and is not too big to add to the other things you need to fit in the car. They are only $29 I think and I have seen quite a few being used at shows.
  4. Why am I not surprised. Guess who was President of DV during the tail docking issue and guess who made no attempt to support those fighting the ban? How dare DV agree to putting this motion having no input from the general membership. The CoM are supposed to be working for and with us not playing God and doing whatever they please. I see another membership drop in the near future.
  5. I'm another one that would vote for a Tolley, particularly a lightweight aluminium one.
  6. I have the same problem with flies and ears, but my dogs are exceptionally un co-operative when it comes to me putting anything on their ears, let alone doing it several times a day. Mentioned it to my Vet and his recommendation was to use Advantix. Works well for me.
  7. Hi Everyone, Well it has taken me a long time to get to Crufts. Not that I've not been to UK previously but never at Crufts time. I have many friends in the breed over there and no doubt there will be others from other countries that I either know personally or by reputation so I am really looking forward to the experience. Sods law ... my original posting re the problem I was having buying tickets on line was sorted out and I bought them. About 3 hours later I had an email from one of my friends in the UK to say another mutual friend had tickets that she was happy to GIVE me. Bummer ..... although the tickets I bought were not that expensive, it is great to be going when the exchange rate is so good. I'll be at Crufts on Thursday (Terrier day) and Saturday (Gundog day)
  8. Just as a matter of interest, does the Certificate of Registration and Pedigree you have for the father show that he is on the main register ( blue in colour if the same as in Vic) or on the limited register (orange or pink I think)?
  9. The Certificate of Registration and Pedigree should relate to your pup. It will be a 3 generation pedigree showing both paternal and maternal ancestors. I would assume the other information you received related to a parent, why the sire I'm not sure but I would expect the breeder to provide the information relating to the mother of the pups. To have that information from the sire as well is good. If your pup has a Certificate of Registration and Pedigree in his/her name then it is already registered with the State Canine Association and you may apply to them to have it transferred into your name. The details should be on the back of the CoR&Pedigree I suggest you speak to the breeder and ask for clarification. It may be that the registration for your pup has not been received by the breeder yet. Not sure which state you are in but with the new regulations relating to pups having to be microchipped before being registered or sold in Victoria, registration, and thus paperwork may be delayed.
  10. Have the issue sorted now. Tickets have been purchased.
  11. Hi All, After almost 40 years involvement in pure bred dogs I am making the trip to Crufts this year. I've been trying to buy tickets on line and I want to attend on two days. The system will only allow me to buy tickets for day in each transaction and of course there is a fee for each transaction. Has anyone else bout Crufts tickets on line and have you had the same problems? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers
  12. doesn't say they HAVE two litters per year, just that they have no more than 2. I agree with others that they would have more than one bitch.
  13. To be very blunt and answer your question No I do not think it fair that you take both dogs without first establishing your partners wishes.. It seems you have had some discussion about this in the past and your partner has expressed a desire to have one of the dogs. I assume that he still has this desire and he has by your accounts contributed equally - at least financially. This in my book gives him the right to at least be included in a decision making process without you presenting him with an ultimation that you are taking both dogs beecause you "want" them. With all due respect just because you have more experience does not mean you are a better owner. Under different circumstances(ie a seperation) your partner may well step up to the plate and make much more of an effort to be a more active and "better" owner than you give him credit for. Whatever opinions are expressed on this forum are in fact irrelevant as no one here knows the full facts (only your side of them) and your partner has had no input into the discussion. The first thing you need to do IMO is to have an open and frank discussion with your partner
  14. I'm another one that uses canned mackeral or sardines. I also occasionally have Nature's Gift cans on hand as well. I thought the VAN roll may be a good option but I was not happy with the way it kept. Was pretty much off 2 weeks before the use by date, so back to the canned mackeral. ETA I also use cottage/ricotta cheese and eggs. If I run out of kibble the dogs go without, I only feed 1/2 a cup of that daily at any time prefering a more species appropriate diet.
  15. I always used small puppy or cat collars for my pups and for teh first couple of weeks before they were bigh enough for the collars i used hair ties.
  16. Has the kennel been contacted and if so what has their response been?
  17. Try a pharmacy that is where i have bought it albeit not recently Also try the Vetshed if they are near you
  18. Have not tried it on the dogs but did use it myself for several months for my arthritis without any improvement.
  19. I have one dog that was microchipped in UK, another that is registered with CAR and a third registered with PetSafe. The one registered with PetSafe I was unsure about but when I sopke to CAR they were able to tell me she was registered with PS. They also now have my UK chipped dog registered with them and I was able to buy a certificate from them saying he is registered with them. I also have CAR collar tags so as well as having my details on the collar I have the council registration tag and the CAR tags. Fortunately I've not had to test if the system works.
  20. The only dogs I have are neuters but they are also Aust. Champs so i do not see the point of showing to obtain a Neuter Ch when they already have their titles. With my breed there is also a significient amount of grooming to be done and in some cases coats are changed with neutering whch makes the grooming harder than normal.
  21. ANKC points have not changed. If there has been any change it would be from things such as DOL Point Score and these have no bearing on gaining an official title of any sort. Although the tail docking came in in Vic about 2004 there was a further change some years later - my foggy memory says it could be 2010 - that closed loopholes. Cannot remember the details now.
  22. This mirrors my experience. In almot 40 years of having multiple bitches I have never had a fight. Maybe it helps as in most cases I have sucessove generations and the pups come into the yard after being born here and the older dogs have exposure to them from only a few weeks old. I have also had the odd bitch that does not live in my yard come in to whelp or be mated and they also are intergrated with the resident dogs without issues. I also think some of the success comes from the fact that my dogs always run/play/live together unless there is some obvious reason why they cannot but thyese have been few and far between. Maybe I've been lucky that the dogs get along and that is why I have been able to do this but I think you would have more issues if you keep them seperate from each other. I think if your are serious about breeding then there is not choice but to start off with a bitch. At this point a dog is not going to be suitable as a foundation for your kennel.
  23. I don't see anything wrong with her just eating meat. She will still be getting the required nutrition to produce milk and if she is getting the calcium needed as well leave well enough alone. sometimes the dogs know what is best.
  24. Wow all finished in just 4 hours? Amazing! Either the entry on the day was very low or other shows need to take note and speed up their judging. Cheers Sue
