  1. yes knuckling over and usually very easily fixed, can appear overnight Fangks Rebanne :) I've known knuckling over to come and go with diet etc and never considered it was something that (no offence to the OP) was too sinister or a sign of bad breeding. That's only limited knowledge of course. A proper deformity would be different but there is no mention of a definitive diagnosis.
  2. Can someone explain the condition for me? I googled images and it just looks like knuckling over. Can't that be helped with diet and splints?
  3. Here's one! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3040716/Shopped-social-services-m-not-perfect-mum-Shona-Sibary-malicious-phone-call-seen-little-girl-taken-care.html
  4. Nup, she's got form, have a google. There is something really wrong with her.
  5. Seriously she needs a slap. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3213491/I-rid-dogs-soon-stop-cute-puppies-woman-s-given-away-FOUR-dogs-four-years-brazen-confession-ll-enrage-pet-lovers.html She wrote this herself. It's long and frankly; way too weird.
  6. I wish that firstly they'd clear up the confusion between independent stray un-tame cat and multi generational feral monster because people aren't quite getting it. If you tamed a cat it wasn't a feral. And no way should anyone be suggesting TNR back into a vulnerable environment .... a unique ecosystem which appears to also require some explanation. On any given piece of land, you can have a cat population, or thriving natives. Not both. The Tasman Island Project is a great read. Oh. and Dear Morrissey, I'll take you more seriously if you rescue one of our newly endangered muscular, scarred up, feral tomcats and 'tame' it with love and a can of whiskas. :)
  7. OK yes. I was just talking to a carer yesterday about seeing pups available that don't look right and really should not be up for adoption yet. Skinny pups with strange heads and bandy legs. No muscle. But pups move fast so are put out there ready or not, and people will adopt them because they look sad.
  8. Yes :) Flame suit on but I think 'runts' are cute. I'm not talking about the wobbly, glassy eyed pups who are clearly very wrong in some way. Those sad gumtree ads with clearly hydrocephalus baby chi's being sold as teacup. There's smallest and then there is just plain wrong. I do mean the spunky little bantam ratbags who power on with their larger siblings and are on their way to being a great dog. There's something about them, their little chin up when they run with the litter, the way they fit into tiny spots then pounce out of nowhere... It's probably different with purebred breeders, in rescue you can get a couple of different crosses from one mum so you can't just assume the the tiny ones are unwell.
  9. SD.....Pressure spray! You just reminded me :) I loved having a pressure spray. I'm on ebay now looking for an Aussie seller, I need to replace the Hoselink (spelling?) one that completely snapped off. Anyone have suggestions? I tested Mum's karcher and while they are very good, they are also too bulky and a pain in the behind. Just needing a pressure nozzle that attaches to a normal hose. Don't worry, just bought one, it looks ok so we'll see. :) BTW on-topic lol, I use 'Kennel Clean' bubblegum. And a bit of nilodor for extra spots that are a must-pee place. Like the BBQ wheels.
  10. OMG she is beautiful!!!  Her coat will come in with good care and food. Silky hair gets brittle and breaks off like people hair when they don't get decent nutrition, fleas don't help either. I've had to shave some poor little buggers right back to the skin and it's always come back in nicely unless the dog is elderly with thyroid or cushings type problems. Won't be long before she looks amaaaazing. And a nice short trim will limit the amount of grooming for aunty but keep an eye around Betty's mouth and under her eyes (and bottom) which will need a bit of tidying between grooms because sometimes they get a bit grotty. If you know a groomer then all the better! I'm so happy for Aunty and Betty. Well done on your matchmaking. :)
  11. Thank you for the answers! :) What has sparked my interest is a new pound guy here. He looks like a steroid silky. 10++kg of pure muscle. And when he had the opportunity to get to a rat it was incredible and nothing like a Silky, nothing like any of the large dogs i've rescued. And nothing like any of the small terriers & terrier crosses I've had who are keen ratters in their own right. He just became a completely different animal. The sound was deep and loud like hounds baying on hunt and he was sooo much stronger than his size suggests. Nothing else mattered. He's otherwise sweet, manageable, docile, now crate trained, not DA or HA and honestly, I'm not going to try 'guess the breed' or tell myself or any adopter that he can be trained out of this prey thing because (as Maddy knows :) ) you have to rehome them into appropriate homes and that means no guesswork. But I'm just absolutely fascinated with who he is and what he does. With the types and levels of 'prey drive' or hunting instinct in different breeds and how people manage, work, train or redirect much larger dogs than him. Thankfully his legs are too stumpy to jump even a 4ft fence and he'll never be able to drag my fat butt after a wallaby. btw 3kg Tyson as size comparison: And Harold my bighead dude still healing under his eyes, he came in with dirty crusted goober glued there.
  12. Sorry to hijack because I was going to ask a similar thing. Is true prey drive something you can control/train? I thought it was innate to certain breeds and basically hard-wired into them. Separate to the self rewarding term. Deaf to any input like 'leave it' or attempted physical distractions. Silly question maybe but it's a simple version of what the thread would have been.
  13. She is divine, poor little thing. I hope she's home with a volunteer all warm and cosy. The donation section has this for her. Major surgery for severe patella displacement; xrays; surgery; anaesthetic; lengthy hospitalisation; antibiotic & anti inflammatory injections; pain relief patches; suture pack; epidural; morphine; antibiotic and ant inflammatory tablets; pain relief injections; bandages edit: I see they have a foster program :) :) :)
  14. I think there was someone in Aus breeding/selling lilac british bulldogs for around that much? Maybe more.
  15. Like the other thread, joining the breeder's section would be most helpful. :)
  16. x 2 x 3 but I didn't want to be the one to say it.
  17. She is thriving! funny little girl. I was rehabbing her on behalf of another rescue because I'm a sucker for special needs but I like to think she chose me LOL. And they decided to permanently place her with a lovely lovely lovely couple who quizzed me aaalllll about her and asked for the photo record. The thread is gone now But I'll always have a spot for her in my heart. Couldn't have hoped for a better outcome. They may have taken her home to the owners which is a shame but we don't know if things are going on behind the scenes re welfare action of if the dog is struggling with illness. Normally I wouldn't suggest randomly contacting an AWL Officer - Animal Welfare League, same powers as RSPCA - but maybe you should just for a chat and peace of mind. Nobody can give you private info of current investigations (if there is one) but maybe it will help you make sense of things or they may give the vet a bell about the outcome. :)
  18. Friends of Hawkesbury Pound on Facebook should have a photo up soon. I can't see her on the council site. Honestly, if she's that bad they may have a cruelty case opened.

edit: Sorry, looks like they've updated the story with evidence seized.
  20. Yes! And stopping pet stores selling live animals .... ok so then you give puppy breeders an advantage because they can sell direct? Fix it. We have states who can force someone to get a permit for a second dog then turn around and allow puppy farmers to run absolutely legally with the right paperwork. It's ridiculous.
  21. I'm on the fence. Some people don't seem interested in controlling their dogs at all. And I feel sorry for tiny breed baby puppies getting rushed by big dogs 'just saying hello' when they actually looked like they were having evil thoughts. I did go to one event where the on-leash rule was enforced by a wandering ranger. I still got my leg peed on a few times by dogs that were on lead, but doing their own thing while owners chatted. Eewww, lesson not to stand still too long which was a shame because the stalls were great. The crotch sniffers were out in force as usual.
  22. They are awesome! So accurate. I need the 'I am blind' though. :-/
  23. That makes it even worse in my view - she was already claiming they didn't source from puppy farms so should have been scrupulous in checking their sources. However we all know it is total BS anyway as no breeder worth their salt would sell to a pet shop Of course she knew. She must think people are as stupid as her. There is no way on earth that you can get a constant stream of 8wk old fluffy puppies and not for one moment realise that they aren't just growing on trees out the back of granny's house. I worked in a pet store in my 20's and I 100% guarantee that you know where pups come from even if you get them from one the slimy dealers who take orders and do the laundering for the farmers. They ALL know where their dogs come from.
  24. In case you haven't seen it. “The allegations and subsequent threats made against council and staff are of a very serious nature and must be investigated fully,” :( Nutters at it again I suspect. http://www.areanews.com.au/story/3245948/death-at-pound/?cs=670
