It depends on exactly what the kidney test results are but I've got two on 2/3rd barf, 1/3 sweet potato, omega 3 and Ipakitine which is a phosphate binder. Vet's All Natural (Dr Bruce) recommends a chinese herb which I should look into more thoroughly but the current diet for my two seems to have dramatically decreased their thirstiness. They are both a good weight and eat well and drink normally. Will chase up the herbs soon.

Because you need to have back to back litters? Because you need to start breeding ASAP? Because a bitch can have unlimited litters until a vet finally ticks her off as no more? Mmmhmm. Thats not to do with what is best for the bitch thats to do with money no way you paint it. Unless you have a super rare dog with a limited gene pool and you need more individuals to keep the breed alive that excuse doesn't float with me. Because the science says breed them young and breed them often - no point in being educated on canine reproduction by animal rights and mythology. Doesn't float with me either. And 'animal rights' doesn't mean rescuers haven't seen bitches bred young & often almost to the point of collapse. It's not a mythology we make up.

Heads Up More Breed Specific Legislation On The Table
_PL_ replied to Steve's topic in General Dog Discussion
Great, I can see it now. More excuses for people to breed brachy crosses because 'they have less breathing problems'. -
I'm so sorry sweetheart She had a wonderful life and a wonderful mum. All my love. Rest in Peace Tess Forever remembered. xxx

Suzeboot, one dog barked from it's front yard, startled the old lady and she fell in the gutter? Are WA dogs not allowed to bark when they are on their own property? I can imagine it would be different if they are on the street or rushed out of a pitiful boundary fence.. but their own front yard? Dogs do that all the time. Dogs would be being seized all over the place.

Coota, Gundagai And Harden Pounds Leaving Dol
_PL_ replied to mixeduppup's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
That's a shame. I am not on FB, could people remember to let me know about silkies please? x -
I wholeheartedly support the behaviourist option because that's most probably exactly what you need. But just so you also have a bit extra to think on, a couple of dogs I've seen behave like that have actually had brain tumours. Change in personality, OCD, aggression and kind of 'black out' moments of unprovoked attack.

Yep, there's a lot of those sites who make it so easy to look legit and run a campaign. There is no clear advice to donors that nobody is watching the money. The hosting site takes a % out of every withdrawal and have no responsibility when it turns out to be a scam. fyi Anyone giving online, make sure the site only takes registered charities. e.g GiveNow.com.au

SweePee the crestie won that guy a prize and in the very least he should have it taken off him. Is it just DOL that sees the cruelty or are other people upset by this? All I can find on the internet is a bunch of articles congratulating the pr**ck. vet article re untreated conditions why are people getting awards for this? My link

Mooch City Is Miserable: Myrtie Very Sick
_PL_ replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
No it was sudden lethargy and funny breathing, something was off. And because of that, I had taken him straight in to the vet never expecting heart problems. It was like he was his funny little old self one minute and we lost him two weeks later after everything available failed to work. I couldn't believe it. Life was good and he was happy, it wasn't fair. -
Mooch City Is Miserable: Myrtie Very Sick

Poor Myrtie. xxxx I lost an old boy to sudden failure, he had some kind of acquired heart disease like an Infective Endocarditis, something settled in his heart or on a valve. Sorry to be vague, it all happened so fast. -
HW ^^ purebreds are most definitely being rehomed inappropriately because they sell well. One particular pound would rather give their silkies to literally anyone except me, that shits me to tears.

Still silkies and yorkies all ages. edit crankypants deleted :)

Yeh, I had 4 wisdoms done there. Insurance payed for x-ray & extraction but excluded all anaesthetics. They just say no that item is not on your list of coverage, too bad for you.

I hope it's not a cash grab, although her injuries are real and I seriously doubt they had health insurance to cover getting decent reconstructive surgery. Fundraising brings out the scammers too. I'm sure I saw that the official Go-Fund-Me or one of those crowdfunding things (commonly used when people have no charity permission) had raised $100,000+ and I bet you there's a bunch of other scabs running their own little 'fundraisers' who will never pass the money on. Found it. Apparently the official one http://www.gofundme.com/8q8yww

What a beautiful little girl she's still just a baby. Grandfather charged with child endangerment... I can't believe she survived the attack. video

Rescues don't take their dogs back either. It's getting common. We've taken back rescue dogs that we didn't rehome in the first place. For some it's getting like buying from byb anyway. Nobody ever expects byb or puppy farm breeders to take dogs back but that's ultimately a reflection, the expectation that purebred breeders have their dog's best interest at heart. Which isn't all that bad.

OT, but why is it that products such as Prokolin+ or even "human" products such as Pepto Bismol and Kaopetcate are not available in Australia? Pepto and Kaopetcate and common products in the US, probably even available at supermarkets. Yet here they're effectively banned. I know that the overpriced veterinary equivalent is available. So as usual we're paying too much for so-called veterinary products when the cheaper "human" equivalent would be just as good. Is it the 'nanny state' at work? Maybe they're not here because they're so gross. bleerk But so much of the human stuff now has artificial sweetener which means it's unsuitable for animals anyway. Like electrolytes for example. That reeeally annoys me. Pretty much safest in the kaopectate style stuff for animals on shelves right now is the pet product Peptosyl. Not too dear, no prescription and stops the trots if it's just a simple tummy upset but I wasn't going to suggest it here because of the pinky frothy milkshake-like mess it makes when they spit it back at you. .
