  1. I'm so sorry, I lost my whippet boy Flynn 18 months ago with Hemangiosarcoma of the heart, I had the fluid drained from the pericardium twice, which gave him about 4 weeks of relief each time, but the last time it built up I had to make the kindest decision I could for him, he was only 11...too young !! Enjoy the time you have left together and take care of yourself too !!
  2. Thanks, will let you know how she goes !
  3. Thanks, that is more affordable for her !
  4. Thanks for the help, I have noted the websites and will get her over to look at them, (No computer), I think the initial fee of $600 would be beyond her budget, maybe Amy Van Dyk may not be so expensive, anyway it will be her decision, so thanks for your help.
  5. I am hoping that someone can recommend a behaviourist for an elderly lady who lives near me, she has always had little swfs, and after the last one died she bought puppy, and because she doesn't drive it was delivered to her.(Warning No 1)... It is a nasty little pup, now about 7 months old, it attacks her older dog and the lady, if she tries to reprimand it. It has had a pin inserted into one of the front legs because the bones were growing at different rates, which has now been removed, and obviously there has been some pain involved, but she has always been a nasty little pup, so that is not the problem. The Vet has to muzzle it to examine it. ! The owner is planning on taking it to obedience, but I have convinced her that she needs someone to come to the home and see what is happening, she is happy about that, she didn't realise that this service was available. So if someone could recommend a great behaviourist I would be grateful, this lady needs help.
  6. A lady in Tasmania has 2 dun sisters, they are beautiful !! Will try and find a photo of them.
  7. I read an article some time ago, and can't find it now, that suggested that the container should be BPA free. Apparently it does cause a problem with the dry food if it is put straight into a container containing BPA. Will keep looking for the article.
  8. I'm so sorry Kirty, what a wonderful life he had with you, albeit too short. !!
  9. I love Boomerang tags too: i'm just about to order 4 new ones; we've just moved so i need new tags with the new address. I love the Boomerang tags too, have used them for years, they are excellent quality, and great service too !!
  10. I have just got 2 of them, so honoured to have Stan and Maddie in our house for 2016 !!
  11. I use a product called Delete, it works really well !!
  12. Congratulations, she is just beautiful !!
  13. Hoping for a complete recovery for all your pups !!
  14. I feed Earthborn holistic Meadow Feast (grain free) to my whippet for about 2 years, I am very happy with it, her coat is beautiful, stools are small, and I have had no problem sourcing it. (Petstock)
  15. Helen Jones of Whirlaway (Whippets and Greyhounds) was tragically killed last night. She was hit by a car after she had stopped to help a stray dog that was in trouble, they were both killed. So sad !
  16. Too cute.....wouldn't it be a dull and boring life without them ?
  17. Not according to this person at training who was telling me about it. I think he just started adding it to her meal, like a normal serve. He has been at his wits end with his dog's red itchy feet & someone suggested this & it worked. He stopped giving it to her, to see what would happen & the red feet came back, then went again when he started feeding her the pumpkin skin again. I will ask more of him next time I see him. Just wondering if you have any more information from this person, I have a friend with a staffy who is very interested in this?
  18. According to the greyhound vet who cut out my whippets corn, it is mainly a sighthound problem, they lack a layer of fat within the pad, that most dogs have!
  19. Leah has had a corn.........I spent nearly $2k on vet and specialist bills before it was finally diagnosed. A greyhound trainer looked at her and said she didn't have a corn, but he had no idea why she was limping, but advised me to go to a greyhound Vet. I did, he spat on her pad, rubbed it in and said 'theres your problem ....a corn'. He cut it out and was worried that because it was so deep that it had caused ligament problems and she may have had to have her toe amputated. It was a slow process to heal, changing dressings daily etc. Thankfully that didn't happen, but I can only exercise her on soft surfaces or she is supposed to wear boots (which she hates) if she is walked on hard surfaces. I researched a lot and didn't find any success stories using corn pads, but hey its worth a try. Good luck, its very frustrating, I did find a video somewhere which demonstrated how to soften it with some cream, dig it out and then bandage the foot, if I can find it I will post a link. Good luck Puckie !!
