Hello all just thought I would make my first post after lurking on these forums for a little while now.. Such a good source of info! After much research into the breed and breeders we have a litter of Hungarian vizsla's due on Dec 12th so ready to choose and come home with us in feb. Its going to be a very long wait (well not that long compared to others) and am already puppy mad!!! Looking forward to seeing everyones new additions soon :)

Well...our pup was born on 8 November. I had decided prior to birth that I wanted a tri-colour male Cavalier and the breeder said they were rare but keep fingers crossed! Well mum produced 2 male tri's and 4 female Blenheim's!! We've visited twice so far and still not sure which one is ours as yet as the breeder may be keeping one for show -- gotta wait and see which one will be best for this. We're allowed to take him home at around 10 weeks so still 8 weeks to wait, yet but we will be going back for lots more visits in the meantime! Am now busy ordering puppy pens, arranging to raise the kitty litter box, establishing some roll-on lawn, buying bubby blankets, towels, toys, etc!

I have a couple of questions, we are paying $1000 for him and have been told if we want papers, they'll be limited, do you know what this means? Should I be worried that the pups are outside all day from about 6 weeks in an enclosed yard with grass, sand, concrete and shelter and bought in at night? I thought for the best socialisation, pups should be in and out as part of a 'normal' household or is this unrealistic? I am sure I'll have more questions as I go along.

Aannie - Congratulations on soon to be a Cavalier owner! If your breeder is registered, you should receive papers. Its not a matter of if you 'want' them or not. Limited means the puppy is not to be bred from and is not able to be shown. Your breeder may also have a contract written up for you that you have to sign saying that you will get the pup desexed and will not breed from the pup.

$1000 is the average price of a Cavalier, you should not pay more for the papers, it should be included in this price, if the breeder is registered.

I don't think you should be worried that the pups will be outside from 6 weeks during the day, as long as the breeder is including them in familly life and getting them accustomed to different noises, objects etc.

Goodluck, you should go have a look at the Breed Sub Forum in General Discussion. Go to the CKSC thread - lots of helpful information relating directly to this wonderful, loveable breed!

Prepare to have a shadow following you and wanting to be with you 24/7!

Hi everyone :)

I've been lurking for a little while & thought I would finally stop in and say Hello!

It's so nice to see a thread dedicated to those waiting anxiously for our new best friend. I'm currently waiting to hear from a Dogue De Bordeaux breeder who I've been in contact with if she has an available pet puppy.

The wait is driving me a little batty, including driving my OH batty!

So I will sit here patiently like the rest of you & cross my fingers that I'll have the A-ok soon!

awwww thank you for the reply, Linda. One of the tri's is nearly all black and shadow was actually a name I have shortlisted for him :) My breeder said as long as I don't name him Charlie and can you believe it took me until the next day why she would say that? Gee I'm slow some days. Don't worry, I've shortlisted William and Harry, too and Bonsai and a few others but I've lost the list. :)

The desexing, non-showing, etc, don't worry me so I'll happily sign a contract. I just thought perhaps that by limited it meant he wouldn't be registered, not that I really need the papers for any particular reason, just want to know the ins and outs of all the jargon!

I have owned a Cav before, the most beautiful little blenheim girl and I was assured that the breeder was registered and didn't found out until very recently that she'd been taken off the register at about the time we got our last pup -- it all makes sense now, of course because hindsight is a brilliant thing!

But anyway, onwards and upwards. I have checked out the breed sub-forum but it's part 2 and I can't seem to access part 1. Has part one been blocked or am I just stupid?

ETA: Arnie is gorgeous!! xxx

Hi everyone!

I love peeking into this thread - it is delightful to see all these proud puppy owners-to-be sharing the joy lol!

I feel I can join in now... I am waiting to hear back from AQIS about the import permits, but hopefully once they give me the ok - well I am importing two Pomeranians from America *squeeee* sorry pretty excited!

Because of quarantine requirements, the puppy is more a 'teenager' now - he was born early March 2010:

Here is Comet recently:

And I am also getting a two year old girl, Daisy - as a puppy:

Soooooo cool having a thread to get all excited in!

I'm waiting too  OH and i are waiting on a scottish terrier puppy, the litter is due to be born in 4 days, very excited! my partner absolutely loves these dogs and we've finally found a breeder in WA who doesn't have a 3 year waiting list!

We're hoping for a black female, we were going to get another shih tzu but after the loss of little dude i think i'd be always comparing the new addition to him so decided against it.

Can't wait :)

OT: oooooohhhh.... lookee the tiny baby! How lovely - congratulations

How exciting  I have 2 CKCS and am in WA too! I have D'Artagnan who is 2 on Dec 8th and Porthos who is 1 on Dec 28th. They are both blenheims. I got them both from a Registered Breeder in Southern River who breeds Blenheims and Tri-Colours.

Mine are both limited register and cost us $1000 each - that is about the average price for a CKCS :mad

You must come on over into the CKCS forum .... there are a few of us now in WA.

How exciting Pandii! What a cutie pie!

Aanie we will be getting our pups around the same time - mine was born on November 12th. Only another 4 weeks til I can go and see my baby in the flesh. Sooo impatient.

Mischiefmaker - hope you get some news about your dogue really soon - it does drive you a bit crazy all the waiting I totally agree.

Doggeek - your 'babies' look gorgeous - when do you find out about the import permit? How long does the whole import process take - they would have to go into quarantine for a while yeah?
