Perhaps if you could find a good Veterinary behaviourist? Someone who has the medical knowledge to understand Jake's physical issues but also has a behaviour specialisation to help with his socialisation & anxiety. And they would also be able to prescribe medication if needs be.

More hugs :)

Maybe consult a vet who takes an all round approach? The ALl Natural Vet in Russell Lea, Sydney does that, they are very expensive but the results i've experienced have been worth it but then they weren't as complex as this case.

We just took Leo the Italian Greyhound there, he's got 2 kinds of cancer and we hope he'll be with us for many months. He was very anxious due to the cirumstances that led to his surrender to us and in very poor physical shape - very thin (bony) and bald in places.

He's been doing well with a wonderful foster carer who's home all day, but after going to the AN Vet, he was prescribed chinese herbs and a special anti cancer diet. He's apparently lost his haunted look and is really very happy, has put on weight and his hair is growing back. Pretty amazing.

Love the pictures - I'm not surprised Murphy is an FF - he's gorgeous.

Hoping you can find something to help Jake lead a comfortable life. :)

Is he causing problems in the pack, so they then tell him off?

Some dogs are just not meant to be in multiple dog households, they don't want to be in charge, but they just cause trouble, it makes them look the victim when the other dogs put them back in their place, but its actually them causing the problem ,( i have one here ).

They need to be only dogs. :(

I loved the pic of Murphy hanging out with Jake. He's a bit like a doggie therapist for him. :)

I think the 'comprehensive-view vet' is a good suggestion and dogmad's given an example where it helped.

  • 3 months later...

For those who knew or loved little Jake he passed away last week..

Poor little man had refused to eat and was hiding in corners looking for a 'place' to get away..

Many thanks to all who have supported us through this long journey.. I know he is watching over us all..

Many thanks to the lovely vet who helped me hold his paw on his final day..

Our home and hearts are empty...

RIP little man

I am so sorry Garnali. I truly believe little Jake only made it this far because of the love and care you gave him. Thankyou. :flower:

Although I never met you in person Jakey, I felt like I did know you and I am sure I am not the only one... You touched many of our hearts.

Many thanks to those who have supported Jake & I on our long journey..

K9Angel.. you made the tears flow as I remember Christmas with Jake.. One special boy who touched many hearts with his strength and character.. Family and friends have been so supportive.. Dont know what I would have done without them..

Our house is empty without a special cuddle buddy..

Even the other dogs are looking for him..

I know deep down that it was time but part of me still wants that one more cuddle or one more time of greeting me at the door.. :(

Murphy is here with me now trying to work out what's going on.. He hasnt realised that he doesnt fit on my lap.. Lots of cuddles though..

Thanks again to EVERY one who has helped Jake through his short life..
