yes, it is :) Marrowbones/shanks can be very hard on teeth, and also shards can splinter sometimes ..sharp bits which aren't really ideal in stomachs ... will he eat roo tails , or frozen chicken frames, or beef brisket bones maybe? They are a bit softer, and don't splinter .Freezing them slows down chewing time a bit ;)

Sydney Abbatoir Closed For Cruelty
persephone replied to samoyedman's topic in Dog Cruelty and Abuse News
... crops here (wheat/barley) have shooters patrol most nights .. and emus cop it during the day .Not poison ..but killed anyway . cockatoos also get shot in areas where fruit/nuts are grown ..and a lot are illegally poisoned. There is also the destruction of habitat ..and the use of fences , which, when newly erected , effectively kill roos/emus who cannot get thru the barbed wire/ringlock to get to water, as they have done for ever. I would much rather see (and eat)one of our sheep roaming the paddock where it was born, get killed cleanly with a single rifleshot , than travel the boundary of a nice 'clean' crop paddock and see all the dead things . -

Still Researching Raw Feeding
persephone replied to mumtoshelley's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I agree . Mum to Shelley ..have a read of that thread .. work out a basic 'recipe', and then feed HALF of what you worked out is enough ;) Your guys have only you to help them regain their waistlines .It's hard, I know - my dog always looks at me as if he is starving slowly - and he gets very little food .. -

Did you get her assessed by anyone to find out why ? She sounds as if she'd be a bit of a problem to live with ... -
I can't see your photos .. but the first thing I thought of when I read this was a dermoid cyst ? they are little or large , and full of hair etc ., from memory.

Excitable German Shepherd.
persephone replied to DRJ5150's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I agree here - especially in this day & age , where people can instigate legal action etc for all sorts of things It would be well worth your while to get him professionally assessed, and then get a plan tailor- made to suit you and the circumstances. If you say where you are , a reputable person can be recommended for you to contact :) -
poor pup . Where did she come from?Sounds as if she may have missed out on all her socialisation .... I hope there is a good trainer /behaviourist somewhere nearby who can observe and help - cos I think this one would be better dealt with having a professional at your side . Best of luck with it all...

This, read it at least three times. She would never have had a chance had you not persisted for the 6 weeks you did. She would not be happy for the first time in her life if you had not of done what you did. Never think you didn't do the right thing by her - ever. -

Do Boxers (dog Variety) Get Along With Other Dogs?

One of my favourite boxers died recently at 12 ..and she was still playing/smiling the week before :) -
Make sure you have the muzzle properly fitted. Some are too narrow in the bit under the eyes, and it rubs uncomfortably on cheekbones Some are also not deep enough to allow full opening of mouth . You need to train the dog to wear a muzzle ..just can't put it on and go to work IMO It takes a few days to get them Comfortable with it, and used to drinking , resting etc with it on. Some dogs react badly to having that thing on their faces . There is a risk if the dog tries to paw the muzzle off .. and gets a claw or foot stuck . No way do I ever leave one on when a dog is unsupervised (except in bed of a night, cos Hamlet sleeps in my room, and he has been wearing one on & off for 6 years)

How? Do breeders not check every square inch of new born puppies? Count fingers & toes? check under tail ? make sure legs are glued on tight? check suction pressure in mouth , and amount of insulation around the inner workings? :)

The photo didn't appear for me ...and I think any sore that's been there for a month ,and not healing needs to be seen before May . The longer some things are left, the more it will cost to fix

I guess we've all seen it ..those cat pawprints/scratches on a car in a carport , the cat pee on the front porch , the piles of feathers under shrubs, the chewed lizards, and the droppings in our vege patch. Not nice things to find, any of 'em ! I wish , 30 years ago that I had been educated , and not let my cats roam during daylight hours when I was at work . I lost one when a neighbour bashed him with a brick ... I lost one (who 'belonged' to neighbours, but lived at my place) to a car . I almost lost one boy after he was hit by a car .. luckily I had my vet's ph no. on his collar and he was taken there by someone who found him , and recovered after losing sight in one eye, a fractured pelvis, and some brain injury. These days I do things differently.

Working Out Genes For Colour In My Dogs

Sad`chapter maybe, but very cute photo :) Glad she's OK . -
Years ago, I trained both labs & GR's .. my experience was that the GR's seemed a bit more 'dignified' than the labs ..they were a tad softer in temperament , too.
