  1. They are very cute - I hope they find a home quickly - Devons are beautiful little busy cats.
  2. I think your Mrs Cranky is a bit over the top. At my vet dogs and cages are on the bench seats or the floor. Personally my dogs stay on the floor but I always put the cat cages on the seat so my cats are not subjected to strange dogs sticking their noses up close.
  3. Hemorrhoid cream such as Anosol works really well - thick antiseptic, astringent.
  4. esky is beautiful as even and Fritz is very cute - are you going to race Fritz with Esky ?
  5. Cats always rule :) - in our house the game is catch a very fluffy Lappie tail with claws extended  or do a Siamese yowl and scarce the s@#t out of big Keely
  6. What about a Lappie? - they are very gentle with kids and are happy to lounge around all day or go for a run. Mine is always being mistaken for a BC X .
  7. when I was growing up they were always called Qld heelers, never heard them referred to as anything else until I joined an obedience club. In the 1950's they were Blue Heelers my parents had some in PNG and I still think of them as that.
  8. I have a huge coated beautiful Lappie who loves everyone and anyone who ignores her gets howled at  I really enjoy taking her out and getting stopped even if most people think she is a BC X that is until she howls.
  9. I did a thread on Keely's operation - not sure how to link back to a DOL post - hope this works http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/167319-femoral-head-ostectomy-after-operation/page__p__3685081__hl__%2Bfemoral+%2Bhead+%2Bremoval__fromsearch__1#entry3685081
  10. My wolfie x BC x nutcase ( 30kgs) had this a couple of years ago - the cost was just under $2000. She had some hydrotherapy sessions after and on our vets advice we took her swimming as much as we could -there is a nice dam at Frank Smith Park Coromandel Valley. I found the best pain relief for her was massaging the top of her hips with the palm of my hand. She recovered well and now walks without a limp, looks running and chasing a ball.
  11. I don't know why it happens but I have seen it happen many times at dog parks. Someone will arrive with a dog on lead and start walking around and other dogs will approach and then scuffles start. I also have a dog with iffy re-call and as she loves going to the dog park I just watch her very carefully and let her run around she usually ends up trotting next to me as I do laps of the park. She has a few special dog friends that she likes to play with and there are always lots of people she can "talk" to !
  12. I'm so sorry to hear this - you made the kindest and hardest decision - big hugs to you - I too will miss the Mr Wilson stories and photos
  13. I am very sorry to hear this Jelly I had followed your earlier thread but not commented - you have made the bravest and hardest decision. You have given me a lot of comfort as I went through a similar situation earlier this year with a cat.
  14. I'm having a good laugh at all the wonky ears - here is my beautiful Lappie with one ear that didn't come up I looked up ear taping when she was a pup but the human males in my household were horrified at the idea
  15. Sorry no help here at all but I think we need a video - I would love to see a pack of sighthounds howling  I have a howler and I find it really cute - she throws her head back, sticks her nose in the air and goes for it - she has a huge array of howls - the most common is soft and lovely "I'm being adorable so I can't be ignored"
  16. Yes Floud is for f..... loud - my OH named her when I told him I was getting a Siamese kitten - she is a chatter box but I have met a lot worse
  17. Floud decided to help me with some sewing as usual :)
  18. This is Jaana just after she had been washed and groomed - not only did she have a lot to say to the groomer but then she complained (as usual) because I wanted to take her photo - believe it or not she is the sweetest dog normally
  19. Jaana and I started a training/ agility class about 6 weeks ago. I really didn't think she would like it but she has suprised me and seems to really enjoy and tells the whole class regularly ! The one thing she was reluctant with was jumping on the table so when she finally did it she very happy
  20. Our Deerhound managed to "bounce" 3 family members through windows - luckily all 3 incidents were injury free and we did manage to claim replacement glass off our house insurance.
  21. I think I might have had the same one - black and white BC look with loop sided ears but with maybe a little something else added - a very serious wise looking maybe older dog ! I liked the survey because it made me think of my preconceptions of BC's - I really thought through my answers and debated with myself if I was answering because I thought it was a BC or actually answering about the specific photo.
  22. I could say that my Lappie is non-shedding because her fur doesn't fall out by itself BUT she does have a huge coat which requires regular brushing otherwise her undercoat mats and she gets full of bits of garden. :) So when she is inside she drops leaves, dirt and twigs everywhere.
  23. I watched it and I must say that I found the fact that the dogs were chained up permanently rather disturbing. I understand that they are a dog bred for hard work who like nothing better than exercise so to keep them chained up seems cruel. There were some great scenes of them playing with polar bears -one in particular the polar bear was rolling around on its back.
