  1. Congrats on Lace's first points :D I couldn't find any vests cheap enough :/ So the coats worked out better for us. The greyhound rug thing I posted is a little big on him length wise, but he'll grow into it. Dotdashdot: They're so strong aren't they. I guess you've got to be to stop and hold a pig. I can barely hold him back if he really wanted to pull me.. Must work on loose leash walking. We either do harness work (PULLING) or free running .. Not nice calm walkies Oh I feel horrible actually, on Friday night I decided to get Fritz used to something being pulled behind him for weightpull & racing. So I harnessed him up, and attached a large water bottle for him to drag along while he got treats. Anyway he got totally spoooked, ripped the lead from my hand and bolted off barking at the scary thing following him Managed to catch him. He totally hates that water bottle thing now. Gives it a sniff and a good staring every time he walks past it. Funnily enough though I hooked him up to the scooter today to get him used to that and he was fine. Started pulling :) Poor thing
  2. Venue change for the above. Now being held at DICKERS off Warren rd Between Birdwood & Williamstown
  3. Terri this is one of the coats I bought for Fritz. Dirt cheap and very warm and well made. Plus a choice of colours. Postage was fast too! Greyhound coat Doesn't really show the coat all that well but meh
  4. Definitely worth a go with Bella. Robb's girls had the hand of it after a few short runs.. :D
  5. NOW being held at DICKERs.. Off Warren rd between Birdwood and Williamstown.
  6. They come up on gumtree a fair bit For example http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/pimpama/other-sports-fitness/dog-racing-scooter/1043575365 Should be able to pick up something under $300 if you're quick replying to the ads. ( I was going to link you to one in NSW for $75 but that went super quickly) Or if you are or know anyone handy you can try DIY if you have an old bike..
  7. Try kickbike as a search term. Putting scooter into Ebay brings up those awful little kids scooters :p Also dog scooter or kick scooter should bring up some results. or try Please contact the following suppliers if you are interested in a sled or cart (gig).:
  8. Did you explain to them when you applied for the place that they are inside dogs. Most agents I;ve dealt with just assume they're going to be outside only.. I always specify on my pet resume's that they are inside pets. Still the landlord here was somehow shocked to find out they were inside / outside pets. We ended up paying an extra 2 weeks bond ( strung on us at literally the last day) but refused to pay a pet bond as they're illegal here. I'd be explaining that they are only inside when you are home/ supervised. Not left to destroy the place.. If that's true of course :)
  9. I did the same thing with the shirt. He didn't like the shirt. but the coat is his fav thing ever
  10. Wow hasn't she started to bulk up. How shiny is her coat!
  11. This is one of the coolest ideas I've ever heard :D
  12. Lure racing day Fritz had no idea what was going on.. Bit funny on the noise ( he only had a go over the short track ) Reggie + Esky got bored halfway and took a shortcut :p
  13. One BIG thing I use crates for now is feeding time. No one can steal each others food. I could just feed in separate rooms but inevitably someone would hide a bone, the other would find it. Cue fight. I did crate Esky when I was taking Fritz to training, as she would try and escape the yard.. Now she gets free access to the house as I felt it was too long to leave her crated.. Training is now at nights, so she can spend time with my bf while i take the puppy out. Also used for the pup at a sled dog trial.. Normally just use chains to stake the dogs out at races, but this was in a very public park, and I didn't want Fritz to be touched or be jumping on people while I couldn't see him.. He was fantastic.. Not a peep.. He's nowhere near as good on the chain! Sometimes the sleep in there too
  14. I've always always had to go back to square one with toilet training each time we move.. Just be patient and teach him the habits you want in the new house :)
  15. Hi all..Bumping this up with a few questions. Used to feed fully raw, but the sibe won't touch any offal. So it's always been super disgusting trying to make her up mince.. Uuuuuh can't touch liver.. makes my stomach churn... And since we started racing we won a fair bit of dry food. So Esky has been on a mixed diet.. Anyway, my young feller will eat anything you give him. I remember once watching as he devoured a whole pigeon in front of me. prey model! He eats a LOT.. 3-4 cups of dry AND a fair hit of meat a night. Ouch. Thinking he might be a good raw dog once his growing is done.. DOn't want to risk growing him out wrong .. With really active dogs, what % of bodyweight do you feed? Also anyone with performance dogs- mine are sled dogs- do you have concerns about feeding bones the night before hard work? A few hunters I've talked to don't feed bones before a hunt, as the dogs are obviously very active running through bush, jumping around etc and are concerned about internal organ punctures with bones.. Is that a legit concern? I don't give bones the night before a race simply because I can't always get her to poo before she runs
  16. Hate to admit it but we've had a number of incidents :/ Pup has come of worst both times. A rip in the ear, and a small hole in the neck. Neither vet worthy but still scary. Feeding is separate as incidents seem to occur with found food... So no feeding in the yard. No leftovers.. no fights. Also we sometimes have issues travelling, if I turn a corner or something and Esky moves into Fritz's 'space' it's noise and grumbling :/ Hopefully getting a dog trailer or bike rack soon.. So they can both have more space
  17. My friend still runs his old sibes in harness. The oldest are 11.5 and 13.5. Still going very strong. If they're fit and healthy then keep going, I think you know to keep an eye on them and will rest them if they are looking a bit lame.
  18. My boy is just over 6 months now Around 31kg... what a beast!
  19. Finally Miss Squish.. Hoping for good news for you :D
