I wonder if she asks all non-caucasian, or "non-australian" looking people that question? Also, I wonder if you need proof of your status for adoption? Like, can you go back another day and say yep, I'm a citizen and walk out with the dog? (but doesn't a stray just mean he wandered away from home? so he might be well trained, just lost. poor little tyke

Chicken is probably the primary meat mine get, at least in bones.

Help, The Beagle Got Into The Freezer
minimax replied to claireybell's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
This was one of my first thoughts too! Poor thing, hope it all comes out okay (and unfrozen ) -
In the purebred dog world, if you say "purebred" it's taken to mean "purebred/registered/with papers". Without papers, you can't prove your dog is purebred, anything could have snuck in back there.

outside? :) I presume the spitz is being taught to go outside? a little dog toilet, made using fake turf ..so that texture will be a part trigger for when she's out on grass ..rather than maybe a magazine on a couch, or newspaper on a carpet :p Toilet training is a full time job ..tiny little bladders, and no chance of 'holding on' for months ... They both look cute - thanks for the photos . How old is the spitz boy? He looks tall for a puppy ... I was about to ask the same thing. Are you sure he's a pure JS? He looks normal for a JS puppy at that age, they go all leggy. Plus depending on the lines he comes from will dictate how big he will be. If his parents are from the older stock he might be larger than 37cm. Pictures are decieving when it comes to their size. The only reason I asked is from previous posts I got the impression the dog was younger and he's from a BYB and we all know how these things go sometimes. I am very aware of how leggy and strange some puppies look at this age. I've just come back from overseas, so am re-joining this saga. Interesting that this JS BYB'er just had a 5 month old pup laying around ready for someone to take home that day! Must have been the pick of the litter. All the other posts made it sound much younger. Wonder if the Pom breeder knew her teeny baby, who is too small to go out in the rain, was being sent to live with a 5 month old JS, and not an 8 week old?

Which did you have first, the dog or the child? You know the saying - last in, first to go! (I am joking, sort of ;) Is is a recent thing, or has she always has this reaction to the dogs?

My black pug spent the first 9 months of her life in an apartment and was fine. Shedding is kept under control with regular brushing and.blacks tend to shed less than fawns (but blacks are manic, I have two black puppies so can vouch for this :p ) howevee they are also happy if I dont walk them for a week and just play games in the house, or if I take them out each day. Max pee pad trained in an apartment really easily (pugs will do anything for food, so actually train quite easily in some things), and she isnt a barker. Any of the squishy face breeds are awesome, but Bostons aren't quiet or common, so I'd probably not be thinking of one of those.

Sounds like a pug would fit your lifestyle pretty well too!

My pup steals and eats door-stops too! I'm not sure why, but she also has door issues (won't walk through a door unless no one is watching *eye roll*) so I'm sure the two are linked lol

Oh my, I just cracked up laughing at work and earned a weird look from everyone in my office. And I can't explain to them why I'm laughing so hard I have tears running down my face

You're obviously not a P-plater, tarred with the brush of all the moronic things some P-platers choose to do!

You're probably right, but I'm guessing right as you were replying I just decided to go with the first one, it's in. I think as long as you enter something you'll get a box. My last years photo wasn't very good at all but they still sent me a box. What was in the box?

Hollie - Puppy Dumped With Broken Leg
minimax replied to Just Andrea's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Oh poor little thing. What a cutie, I hope she/he is ok <3 -
It's different for all puppies. Mine seemed to finally click at about 4 months (female) but my male is taking longer. I train mine to pee on command, and that seems to make life a bit easier in the toilet training department. Also, mine don't respond to praise nearly as much as food rewards!

What Should Happen To Dogs Brought Into The World By Byb?
minimax replied to skully's topic in General Dog Discussion
Crikey, people actually spent time and money to come to these (startling obvious) conclusions?? -
My mum gives my dogs the chopping boards to lick clean after she's been cutting meat on them etc, and once my dad saw it he went nuts! Not sure why, but she doesn't do it anymore if he's home lol
-
It's up to you if you want them to be able to go inside and outside, or just stay outside. My pups stay inside when we aren't home (10 month and 4 month old pugs) but that's my personal choice based on various factors. A dog door is handy though, if they are inside when you're home so they can let themselves outside for toileting etc

That sounds like a seriously boring dog!

What Should Happen To Dogs Brought Into The World By Byb?

they do happen .. silent heats ... one second's loss of concentration .. nobody's perfect. Fair call, but I was more referring to the BYB style of "accidental litters" -
What Should Happen To Dogs Brought Into The World By Byb?
minimax replied to skully's topic in General Dog Discussion
No, the parents should never have been bred together in the first place. I don't believe in accidental litters. You're either a registered breeder, or your dog is de-sexed, or responsibly kept in conditions where it unable to get pregnant or get another dog pregnant. If you're unable to responsibly do this, you aren't responsible enough to own a dog. -
What Should Happen To Dogs Brought Into The World By Byb?
minimax replied to skully's topic in General Dog Discussion
In a perfect world? If everyone stopped buying them, there would be no demand and therefor the BYB wouldn't exist on the same level they do now. In the world as it is? There is no perfect answer. Read http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/238882-sick-border-collie-pup/ that thread and then re-ask that question. Or ask the owner of that dog that question. -
Granted, the OP was just driving past. There could have been anything in the cup. The OP said coffee in their post and they didnt also seem concerned that it COULD be coffee but instead that theres dog spit on th spoon. Regardless of what it was, the OP wasnt concerned that it could be coffee, and I was commenting as to thats what I would be worried about. It's her dog,and she can feed him/her whatever she wants. It's also not so much about dog spit either, although hygiene should play a part. The point is that as I said before, there are many non dog people out there and they would cringe at seeing what she was doing. It's hard enough trying to exercise dogs legally, off leash, (I know, many of you don't like this idea either) without having to have some nitwit add more fuel to the fire to the anti dog people. Caffine is really bad for dogs. Technically, she had her dog on a lap outside at a cafe ... I'm not sure she was doing anything wrong!
