  1. TT, you may have not noticed yet but your post count has reached enough (I think, unless it's 200 now) that you can access the off-topic section where your thread wouldn't be out of place. :) Mods can move it if you ask. eta: I think people need to remember that others don't always know the minutiae of DOL posting.
  2. Well they look pretty alert! :) I'd continue as you are until they are safe from shedding into the environs. You can still carry parvo out on your feet for example so set up a footbath. Clusters of parvo outbreaks have been attributed to movement to neighbouring properties by rainy weather and insects (I can't confirm if that is true). But bleach and iso will be your friend for a while longer. @12 weeks, they will be fine. They have each other and can catch up on socialising. Just my opinion of course.
  3. I guess the meeting he claimed to have booked with the RSPCA CEO (quoted in a previous post) went down like a lead fart?
  4. Where can I find out more about the new strain you mention? All I can ever find about 'new strains' is that yes, parvovirus is an evolving/mutating virus with strains that pop up but vaccines still seem to cover all current strains in australia. So it's not so much a case of vaccination being ineffective, more of being able to recognise the early symptoms presented and seek help immediately. one small example without the science-speak. Maybe someone has more info.
  5. I'd just like to say a public heartfelt thank you to the dear lady who sent me condolences and a couple of little things to remember my Herb by. How very special you are. Thank you.
  6. I've heard it's getting good results in chronic failure treatment in combination with diet. After years of somehow escaping kidney issues in my seniors I lost two oldies this year with rapid acute failure so long term treatment was not an option. They both had to be given their wings. Sorry, for browsing readers just pointing out there is chronic (gradual decline) and acute (sudden).
  7. Have you asked your vet about the benefits of using fortekor to aid kidney function?
  8. I'm very sorry about the babies and they are in my thoughts. But I just have to say, well done for seeing you have high risk pups and being proactive about isolation and vet treatment.
  9. She does look like a Hairy MacLary !!
  10. I'd email Julie at the MDBA (DOL 'Steve'), she's usually got the latest on non profit org insurance. :)
  11. All natives are protected unless a permit to cull is issued AFAIK. Swan deaths happened near here in a large park with reclaimed natural areas, specifically so the wildlife would return. However there were witnesses to a man encouraging his dogs to attack. If the council rangers and police aren't interested (which just sounds lazy IMHO) you're going to have to take it to the Parks & Wildlife dept, and local media to get community momentum.
  12. I don't do FB, can someone post or PM the Sydney details pls?
  13. I know her, she is tiny and his best friend. They always sit there (pitt st). A pox on the jerk who kicked her
  14. Kiki's is in Sydney, but still wonderful. :)
  15. Word is really spreading. Mr Powerlegs brought one of your flyers home from work!
  16. I'm so sorry for everyone who tried to help. RIP little babies.
  17. That's the stupid part. The article is so damaging but so flimsy, it says absolutely nothing about the extent of the injuries, the post op treatment or who was the animal's surgeon. Then it presumes to say the cat was overdosed where I can't see one sentence where anyone investigated to prove the cause of death.
  18. Or it could just be an old or 'close enough' photo the newspaper put there because they didn't have one. :)
  19. If that's an actual photo of the rabbit.... it would be next to impossible to hold on to a live wild rabbit while you hang it by the tips of it's ears and expect it to stay there like that. I just can't see how that would work.
  20. It's a bit of a gappy story. Not enough information. It doesn't explain who actually did the surgery and why a post-op mauled cat wasn't already on painkillers. No mention of antibiotics either, infection or sepsis can kill a cat the same way - IMHO a necropsy should have been done before calling the press. RIP kitty.
  21. If the cat was post-op shouldn't the owner have been given prescribed pain relief to take home anyway?? This is very confusing. I thought that vet had retired. She's been there forever.
  22. Yep, scam. Same ad, same photos and wording is being run in Germany.
  23. Right, so from those posts he won't be 'official' but he isn't going to stop going on about it.
