  1. I agree with huga too - pop it into manual and experiment :) They joy of digital is seeing instant results and being able to change settings as necessary. I used aperture or shutter priority for the first 18 months, but was photographing a yellow and choc lab and a black mini schnauzer for a friend one day and it was an exposure nightmare on auto  So I thought 'sod this I want to tell the camera what to do, not the other way around', chucked it into manual and had a much better control over the situation :) Give yourself some time, and maybe take a note book with you and start with the settings huga mentioned earlier. Choose something static and shoot away - if you don't like the results, change one setting shoot again and make a note of what difference it made to the photo. e.g. if it is too dark decrease the shutter speed - if that makes it too blurred then pop the shutter speed back up and open up the aperture a bit - if the depth of field is too shallow now (not enough in focus) the close down the aperture again and put the iso up higher. etc, etc. Don't forget some situations are impossible, just too dark and or subject moving to fast and this is where external flashes and other lighting comes into play :) Hope that makes sense, just rambling a bit
  2. Awwww, Happy Birthday Fluff I think some newer pictures of him are required
  3. Yup 7D, I got the flash from here http://www.hypop.com.au/yongnuo-yn-568ex-high-speed-sync-hss-flash-speedlite-for-canon.html Yongnuo YN-568EX High-Speed Sync HSS Flash Speedlite For Canon $220 is ridiculously cheap! :D
  4. Thanks Pers :) No these were all in morning light, but the Net-casting spider ones were with the YN flash. I've found it a great flash, but I haven't done anything too technical with it. It does HSS and off camera sync :)
  5. I've got the same one, nice lens :D Great first shots, it does take some holding! Love the pouncing ones
  6. Cool spidey shots tlc, and love that shot pers, amazing it was from an iPhone :D Three more jumpers from Sunday morning, the last one was a new one to me and so, so tiny - only about 3-4mm in length! It was hard to get a shot as it was very active, so it's not the best but it's colours were amazing, totally iridescent!
  7. It looks beautiful there Pesh :D Like Pers the snail one is my fav, but also love the seed head shot :)
  8. Poor Belle, your mum is being a meanie :p Louis gets very excited every time I come home - Daisy hates me* and only gets up when my OH cames home  * Not really, but I'm not her favourite that's for sure!
  9. He looks much smarter, what a handsome boy :D This is my old 'working type' cocker during his hippie phase  and after a clip Apologies for the hijack Leah
  10. Aww he is a big cute teddy bear :D I look forward to seeing the after pics too :)
  11. Awwww so cute, pointy dogs look so funny when that pregnant! Love the 4th one down :) Hope all goes smoothly for her and you get a chance to take puppy pics :D
  12. Absolutely beautiful photos gapvic :) You have captured the power and eagerness of the dogs so well A family I worked for in the late 80's as a groom did coursing, and I went a few times with them. They had a grey and we met up with friends who had a deerhound and a couple of lurchers. The hares were very rarely caught, and it was a swift end for them when they were, but to see the pairs of dogs twisting and turning in the fields was amazing!
  13. You're off to a great start with your new lens T and lovely fungi shots tlc :D Finally edited the last pics of my Net-Casting Spider. I released her last weekend as she looked like she was going to lay a 3rd egg sac, so she is now somewhere in my garden and has hopefully laid her egg sac out there. I've kept her first two, so will be keeping a watch on them, they hatch out in the spring apparently. Full set here - http://flic.kr/s/aHsjFaGGVY :)
  14. Looks like you had a great trip out, awesome catch with the snarling lion :D
  15. Awww bless, that's so adorable Happy Birthday Renae
  16. Glad to hear Felix is off to a new home, I really hope it works out for him this time Our Daisy went through several homes before we got her, and Louis had a poor start to life before being handed over to a rescue, so I really do have 2 crazy Cresties, but love them both despite all their 'issues' Thanks Jo, he's doing very well so fingers crossed he is one of the lucky ones with this condition :) I hope Dreamy finds a home soon too, they really are special little dogs
  17. I use Milbemax, I don't think it's as well known over here, but I used it in the UK as always had less of a reaction from it than drontal which would cause my grey to vomit. It covers intestinal worms and heartworm if used on a monthly basis. http://ah.novartis.com.au/pethealth_products/milbemax_dog.html/section/469
  18. Same here - happy to donate to help the little guy out if needed. He has IMHA but is responding very well so far, 8 weeks since diagnosis :)
  19. Lol, thanks for the offer Kirislin but yes a bit far  Just wanted to thank you again for letting me know about this food trinabean, I picked some up yesterday and it seems very nice :) It smells and looks great and the dogs love it :D it's not cheap! but luckily it's really only for Louis, Daisy will be sticking to the raw.
  20. I so wish I could help this little guy Unfortunately my Louis is going to be poorly for some months so can't stress him out with a new one in the house
