  1. Yes I thought that might be the case but never mind as you say he'll find a perfect home. I'll keep looking for you and see what I can find, shame she doesn't want a greyhound I could certainly find her the perfect match there lol
  2. Let us know how you go :) I thought he ticked most of your boxes but even though they say he is small he may not be quite small enough :/ Good luck!
  3. Hugh Bain at Bateau Bay Vet Clinic does keyhole spaying, we took all our foster greys to him my own Maddie included. It was brilliant how quickly they recovered and when I took Maddie to my own vet a week later for something unrelated they were amazed at the tiny incision.
  4. My two at the beach last week. Photos taken by Doler AnnieK.
  5. Oh no Kirty that's frightening everything crossed for good news this morning.
  6. Mackiemad how about this little boy Hugo, Bichon X Poodle mix? https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/381336
  7. There is a lot of evidence to back up the info given about careful feeding. Please don't dispense anecdotes as fact, so you got lucky. There are a lot of dogs fed whatever is going around who DO suffer the effects and it is irresponsible to advise otherwise. Yeah, I'm not looking for an arguement thanks. I didn't say that OP shouldn't be careful, I said they don't need to overly stress about it, as I think a 4 week old puppy is stressful enough. That's why I advocate in the next paragragh the OP to get a digital scale to weigh food, because I don't think careul feeding is important. I stand by my position that you can absolutely raise healthy large and giant breed pups without having to purchase special kibbles if you don't want to. And as for the lucky bit, yeah maybe I did get lucky, and maybe Baxter's breeder has got lucky for the last 30 years too. I guess it's also possible that my breeder knows what he is talking about, hell maybe it's possible I have a clue too You know I am actually an extremely passionate Bullmastiff and Bull Terrier owner and breeder. I love the breeds and love my dogs fiercely. So I kind of take offence tou your suggestion that I'm irresponsible and only raised a healthy pup because I was lucky. But hey, I guess that was your intent... I didn't see Steph's post as argumentative at all, the OP has come here asking for advice and yours WAS irresponsible IMO. I'm sure people here with large breeds don't think it's all "broohaha"
  8. This gorgeous little man is Buster and he is listed as a JRT X. He is 12 years old and is available at SADS (Save A Dog Scheme)in Melbourne. http://saveadog.org.au/animals-adoptions/601/small-dogs/967/
  9. Seeing you're in Victoria this place is the ultimate in pet friendly accommodation, dogs must stay inside I haven't been there yet but plenty of DOLers recommend it :) http://www.bestfriend.net.au/accommodation.php
  10. If you're on Facebook join up on this page, it's Australia wide and there are a lot of people on it that are travelling with their dogs on a permanent basis. https://www.facebook.com/groups/356094021160396/?fref=nf Also check out the pet friendly accommodation thread in General, they are places DOLers have stayed with their dogs. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/179318-pet-friendly-accommodation/page__st__180 Holidaying With Dogs is another good site. http://www.holidayingwithdogs.com.au/
  11. OT but I met my first Borzoi at the vet's the other day. Wow what a stunning dog
  12. Stan and Maddie do it to each other all the time and I'm pretty sure after 5 years they know each other. If Stan lingers a little longer, which he tends to do, I growl at him "get out of that" and he slinks off like some dirty old perve.
  13. I've been back through the thread and almost all the ones we've listed have been adopted Sadly besides Maddy's girl Grace, the greyhounds seem to be the ones still waiting
  14. Frank.I knew a Dobe called Frank and it suited him to a tee.
  15. Stan has the co-ordination of Mr Bean so if I threw a piece of sausage at him it would probably bounce off his head and I'd spend the next 10 minutes looking for it. Plastic cheese is what I use too, Stan would do a cartwheel for plastic cheese.
  16. I can't stand dogs licking me, it's not a germ thing it just gives me the heebies so my two know not to do it but visitors are treated like paddlepops :)
  17. What a wonderful party! love the pics WM.
  18. Keep an eye on their website as they often have specials like this, I've posted them here before.
  19. Well that depends. My old boy was on it at first just when he needed it and then every second day for 2 years as advised by my vet. Gave him 2 years of pain free life until he passed at 16. At that age it's all about quality not quantity.
  20. The first one is fishbone fern, don't know if that's it's real name but that's what I've always heard it called. I don't know if it causes skin irritation but I do know it's tick heaven.
  21. Stan loved her, he was licking her head
  22. Pipi is listed as a Chi cross and is 11 years old, he has some health issues but is a dear old man He is available at the Lost Dogs Home in Melbourne. http://dogshome.com/dog-adoption/adoptable-dog/?petID=997239 About Pipi.... Pipi is a bright and happy older dog now looking for the right home with an owner who will care for him the rest of his life. He will make a great little companion however, being an older dog, his new owner should be aware that he may require veterinary treatment in the future for arthritis and heart disease. Little Pipi's teeth have been neglected over the years. He has had dental surgery with a lot of his teeth removed. He is now eating well and ready to find a new home. Pipi will need some extra care when first adopted and advice from our veterinary team re his ongoing dental care. Pipi has significant bilateral luxating patella's, please speak to a veterinary staff member before adopting Pipi. Looks like Pipi may have found himself a home
  23. I thought the same Perse, a movie star from that era. I'm lucky enough to have met Feather IRL, she is such a divine little lady Love the scarf as well it's gorgeous.
