  1. Still not sure what you mean....is she an undesexed bitch....is that what you mean?
  2. LOL sounds like completely normal puppies!

    Great Dane

mmmm perhaps you are referring to dogs straight in the shoulder and ones that lack depth of chest and have step croups or no croup? Those things can make a Dane look really odd. When a dog has poor depth of chest they can look really leggy.
  4. Labs have pretty good coats on them, maybe just leave him be and keep an eye on him, just ensure he has a draft free place to bunk down.
  5. Pups can be a pain in the bum with their food, growth spurts and teething can affect how much they eat and what they want to eat. Don't worry too much at the moment, all sounds pretty normal. If you do get a bit anxious about it just buzz your Vet
  6. Learning to a walk a dog into its' front makes everything much easier, usually need to just adjust one leg if anything. I was recently the only one in my class and only had to adjust the one leg and the judge was in my dogs mouth just as I put my hand on the dogs leg...2 seconds more would have been nice LOL But you get that with some of them.
  7. It's always a good idea to feed her what her Breeder feeds as the Breeder understands their lines etc. granted you got her from a Registered Breeder. As you would know you don't want to have a Labrador overweight at all. Pedigree and Chunkers are junkfood, 4 legs isn't much better even thought hey try and promote it as healthy. Head to the Labrador thread on this forum and get advice from those in the know on your choosen breed. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...30&st=19095 You may not be able to breed her, it will depend on if her conformation is good enough and the results of her health testing for Labrador related health issues. Good Luck.
  8. I feed seperately so no-one inhales their food as a bloat preventative as the young male tends to do that.
  9. Yeah, I've been there each time, I couldn't imagine not being there. None of the experiences had anything bad happen, they have all passed away peacefully and quietly. 1 was muzzled when pts, that broke my heart as it wasn't required, he was dog agro not human agro but the Vet had their rules.
  10. Our Dane always had pinky/brown around the mouth and legs....it's started to dissapear since he's gone on Raw. From what I understand it can be caused by too much Yeast or a protein processing problem.
  11. You went off at him which was unstable and then you tried to cuddle him which probably made you look even more unstable....remember he's a dog not a child....just ignore him for a bit to take the stress of him....i.e. ignore him until he's happy to wander around being close to you again...that could be a full day of no eye contact etc and just giving food and water.....you're really going to have to prove you're capable of being the leader to the dog. The seperation anxiety could be a result of the confused relationship. Wishing you all the best.
  12. LOL @ Descrimination against GAY dogs.....WTF!
  13. So why are you using exactly when you could be buying raw meat at under $5 kg. I can understand buying kibble by not hugely price infated freezer dried meat? It wasn't made to be eaten everyday, it was for people who like to feed raw but might be out camping or something that doesn't have a fridge. Which Premimum Kibble costs more than $26 for 2 kgs? I bought a small bag of EP holistic select last week, it was $38 for 2,7Kg That's insane, I've brought a 15 kilo of the same product that works out less than what you have stated.
  14. Vit E Tablets and Bio Oil: 1 month later...
  15. We already know the science behind dogs and wolves etc. as we have DNA. Discovery did a wonderful doco on it sometime ago and actually showed that not just wolves were involved in the creation of our domestic dogs, there were also Hyenia's etc as well.

  17. Not good though! You can put Paw Paw or pineapple pieces into his food, apparently once it has gone through the digestion process it tastes absolutely foul, they won't want to eat it! Why not good? Because you don't like the idea you mean? It's perfectly natural for a Canine.
  18. There are so many reasons why the could do it but one of the main things is don't make a big deal about it otherwise it can become a game to them. Some canine mineral & vitamin tablets could be worth a go as well. My boy eats my girls poo, we have her toilet out the front of the house and him out the back as he's allergic to the meat she eats which she also of course poos out.
  19. I minimise the food given before training, I would withdraw food completely before training if he didn't completely drool all through the training session which gets all over the lead and down my pants....Dane Slobber.
  20. Thank you Naturally Wild; yes I have Linda Tellington's book (or at least one of her books!) and have tried to apply some of the techniques to Archie. Obviously I am not a great masseur because this hasn't worked wonders. Still it is a nice thing to do when he is in a relaxed enough frame of mind, but that definitely does not address the core of his issues. SAS you are so right on that. I wish he could tell me what's wrong or what unnerves him but yet again, that wouldn't necessarily mean there is a magic cure for it (thinking of people who need to wash their hands 100 times a day, and so on...) Sometimes I really don't think humans don't take animal mental illness that serious, for some reason people think it's laughable....what some people forget is than humans are animals and dogs are animals and it wouldn't make much sense that non-human animals are excluded from mental illness. I do though think sometimes Vets can prescribe Prozac etc. when they don't know how to help some animals when sometimes their Owners just need to learn a bit more about animal behaviour to help modify their dogs behaviour that they may trigger.

  22. If you don't get them, then ask me to explain. I'll be happy to as I did when you queried my assertions about differing breed body language yesterday. I thought you had personalised issues relating to colour breeding because you wrote this: You linked your dog to "people who dis Breeders" who colour breed. Seemed to me you were relating this topic to your own situation. lAnyhoo.. moving on. You are the funniest person I think I've ever come across on this forum!
  23. Can you provide a linky to that? I've heard alot of 'reasons' for HD but not that one. Side note: I wasn't asking you why so defensive, I was asking Rebanne.
  24. Can you add in a bottle for Boo? Yep, I'm in too!
  25. Says who? Who out there says that a breeder is unethical is something just happens to pop up that they have never seen before and haven't bred on with? Or that it's just a very wordy article and people don't like wordy articles
