The UK doesn't have 30 day quarantine anymore, does it?

People actually buy software?

I think I win at the pathetic, girly spider fear - once when I was 19 I called my mum in hysterics to help me, as I had a huntsman type spider the size of a dinnerplate crawl through my window and I was about to burn the place down to get rid of it. She didn't live nearby so couldn't help, so she called the fire brigade. They were very helpful - 6 men in full firefighting gear, chasing a spider round my floor (they knocked it off the wall!) Anyway, all this spider talks makes me want to know what the best spider sprays are that are sort of dog safe?

That's kind of offensive. I laughed out loud

It's kind of silly, it seems much more effective to have words on a vest or harness if you need people to give your dog space. At least then there can be no confusion, miscommunication or people coming up asking what your pretty ribbon means.

My American Staffy Has Smelly Breath

Sounds like his food is probably the cause of his stinky breath. What goes in is what comes out! -
Reccomendations For Boarding Kennels In Goulburn Area
minimax replied to Wolfhound Lover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Is whispering pines the one that has a pet cemetery on site? I drive past one on the way tocanberra and it makes me laugh every time. No way would I board my dogs in a place that advertised boarding and cremation/burial on the same sign! -
Best Way To Get Dog Hair Off The Couch!
minimax replied to Squidgy's topic in General Dog Discussion
I use a damp cloth for getting pug hair off my lounge, nothing dry picks up as much as damp cloths do. As above, I barely worry about dog hair anymore - I have black dogs and dark furniture to hide the hair lol -
I think offering 6 months pet insurance is a bit excessive, you can get the 8 week breeder pack of pet insurance from Pet Plan, and usually that is pretty good to start people off. Unless of course you are expecting a health issue in the first 6 months, which would be my first question if you were offering me 6 months free pet insurance (but then again, I'm too suspicious - no one gives things away for free for no reason...)

Your pup will need heaps of toys, just buy a bunch because she/he will probably go through them pretty quickly for a while! Squeaky ones, colourful ones, cuddly ones, tug toy, ball toy, learning toys, treat toys (like the kong), teething toys — then they discover cardboard boxes and that becomes their favourite ever toy!

I hope so, then it means these people are really wasting their time! Nope, online signatures count, but I doubt these people are actually sending their petitions to anyone who matters, which makes them pointless.

Both my pugs would stand on their heads for anything that resembles food, even if it isn't!

this place makes me vomit!! Ditto.. Especially the bit about only breeding their 'girls' twice in any 18 month period as per the code of conduct.. And only up until they are about 6 years old, then they are given away to good homes... It gets better ... any dog that sheds they recommend not be an inside dog! So your Beagalie, Pugle & Pugalier are recommended to be outside dogs

Was it Banksia Park Puppies, that had the 300 breeding bitches? I just googled "Banksia Puppy Farm" and that's what came up All I could remember from last night was the "Banksia" Their website makes me cry. http://www.banksiaparkpuppies.com/new/life-at-banksia-park/daily-routine The day starts at Banksia Park at 6.00am with an overall inspection of the newborn nursery to see if there have been any new arrivals during the night. Any new litters are tended to first; this involves bathing the new mum, replacing the bedding and ensuring all of the new puppies are cleaned up and drinking. So, no one is there to supervise whelping? What if mum or pups are in distress, they are obviously just left alone to die? By 7.00am all mums are outside for their exercise, toilet and the day’s first feed of Pedigree Pal Dry Food Awesome quality food for breastfeeding mums! (sorry, there might be a doggy technical term for breastfeeding in dogs, I'm not a breeder so I don't know lol) However, non-pregnant girls get Depending on the day, they may be having anything from fresh chicken, red meat and beef bones to Pedigree Pal Dry Food Why only dodgy dry food for mums, no fresh meat? Oh, sorry I read further, they get meat for their afternoon meal. Hmmm, yet the end of the page says: The days don’t end at 5:30pm for the mums due to give birth, and thus they don’t end for the managers at Banksia Park Puppies. The managers spend the nights from 5:30pm through to the days start at 6am ensuring that any mums are taken care of while birthing, and completing any during/after birth care and cleaning which may be required through the night. which completely contradicts their opening statement. This place makes me cry.

Rescued Dog, Toilet Issues - Need Help
minimax replied to Isabel964's topic in General Dog Discussion
If she's going to the bathroom during the night - maybe scheduling a toilet break during the night might need to happen for a while. -
Yes, we do and they already do. I don't believe there is anyone out there who wants the government to sit back and let a free for all happen in the animal industries. The question is where should the line be drawn as opposed to whether or not they should be able to interfere. But they do let a free for all happen in the animal industry What is the government doing to stop puppy farming/puppy factories, excessive over-breeding or dogs kept in deplorable conditions? Guess all the laws around keeping and breeding of wildlife, livestock and the legislated conditions animals must be kept in is in my mind. The problem is to enforce these laws 100% we need an increase in funding. The problem is no one wants taxes increased and to divert funds from somewhere else means that another area (probably underfunded already) will suffer. We are talking pets here, not livestock. And those legistlated conditions aren't policed, so having a rule you don't monitor makes it really non-existant thus making it a free for all. Last night they showed a puppy farm that was prosecuted - the fine was $3000. No ban on owning dogs, or anything else. How is that stopping offenders?
-
PETA at its very best, they managed to market that message well. Honestly, does anyone really believe that a pound pup dies because a purebred breeder breeds??... Clearly the answer is an unequivocable YES. And they aren't shy about serving it up to potential purebred puppy buyers either. That's like saying everyone someone w*nks, a kitten dies.

Dogs Feel The Full Spectrum Of Human Emotions?
minimax replied to Blackdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I doubt that's trust, and more to do with not being comfortable with the stranger. -
I do joke about re-homing the kid, but you do seriously have to think about what you would do if you had a kid that was allergic to your dogs. If you aren't willing to get rid of your dogs in that situation, why would you even bother think about having kids, becuse allergies are a real possibility with kids.

Insight On Sbs Next [email protected]
minimax replied to Aphra's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
All the Joe Public/general weekly Insight watchers I've spoken too walked away confused, wondering why Insight aired it and what the point of the show was as there didn't seem to be a defined argument or set for/against view but more a general discussion (and one person even asked me what the discussion was actually on, because they got confused). I think the gay guys being proud of their BYB Schnauzer purchase was very strange ("We didn't want to support the BYB but then we saw him and just couldn't help it!") and no one called them on it :/ -

A lot of allergies are genetic, but just because you and your OH don't have allergies doesn't mean there aren't some genes lurking further back - so really your child could still have allergies. Personally, I work on a first in first served theory. Dogs were there first, so they get to stay. Out with the kid!

When was the Brisbane Royal? I waited over 2 months with my first pup, but then my second pup they were ready when the pup was around 6 weeks old. Just depends when the breeder lodges all the paperwork.

Still Think Your Labrador Retriever Is Safe? Think Again!
minimax replied to Podengo's topic in General Dog Discussion
If you look at their blog, I think he was a rescue dog. So again the argument comes about if you push getting dogs from rescue, how can you protect them from these laws? -
How long has it been, and have you called the breeder to ask?
