  1. Perhaps I am missing something here, but is no one concerned he was taken away at 6 weeks? thought that was illegal? How often is he being fed?
  2. I have never used one, so want to ask, surely dogs pull with them if used first? I see lots of people getting hauled around on them, its the powerful part of the dog, less control etc? I did see a CC at the dogpark last week with a stunning leather one on with a handle on the back, holding 60kgs of dog a handle would help
  3. I sometimes take my 3 to the dogpark, but this is what I do. Walk around the outside first with them, and suss out the dogs inside, let them run upto them inside the fence and see how they react, watch the play of the dogs inside . If there are any in there I don't like the look of I don't go in, I walk around outside till they leave. Get in as fast as you can, let them go quickly, and keep moving, dogs all huddled together get over excited fast. I walk round and round, you get the odd dog then coming over to say hi, and I just keep moving, if a dog worries me I leave. I have no problem telling other people if their dog is causing a problem with mine ( lady with 3 JRT's thought it was funny that they had bailed up my BT), she changed her mind when I told her I would kick them if they got any closer. Do not stand around chatting and not looking at whats going on, if he gets over excited ,take him out walk around calm him down then take him back in, or leave it for the day. Do not listen to people who say ' don't worry they will sort it out".
  4. I wouldn't buy expensive bedding till he is much older, chances are he will chew it and drag in around, especially anything with foam, tends to end up shredded everywhere
  5. Does the kennel wobble? There is only a towel inside it so not surprised he wont lay on it, must be really hard. Pups chew,so you have to fence off anything you don't want him to get too.
  6. I bought the heat discs online, they were much cheaper, I have 3 in a big igloo kennel fro 2 dogs. I aslo wrap them in a pillowcase as they scrape the doona around and the little covers they come in can come off, and they are darn hot.
  7. Have you tried the kennels with the removable lid? you could take the lid off and see if he goes in, then perhaps put it back on when he is used to it? I have mine up on pallets with doona's inside, and they also have the heatable discs you put in the microwave, they are still warm in the mornings. If the kennel is a no go, what about a crate outside, you could put his bed inside, then if he takes to it start to gradually put a cover over it. I had a RR x who wouldn't stay inside to sleep either, just got restless and kept asking to go back outside.
  8. Quakers Hill vets ,Burdenkin road, yep they do,as they are big Greyhound vets.
  9. You will get good advice here, but it could well have been rough playing with Vinnie,he is one hell of a big dog with a very hard playstyle.
  10. I would take ,and have any foster of mine that didn't work out, wether I took it back myself or got it back into care. I would expect a breeder to do the same, but after years in rescue I see that that doesn't happen. Room is no excuse, I would pay for kennels if I had too.
  11. They have just put some up at Baulkham Hills offlead park, from what I saw they were just being used to pee up ,and owners dragging their scared dogs up the ramps
  12. I cant find the dosage anywhere online for the liquid version. Its the only thing I have and Bonn has clearly shoved her nose in something on the walk and its now swollen and hot around the top lips to the side of her mouth. kicking myself as I normally have some of her antihistamines here from the vet ,but all out. Label says kids over 12 can have 5 mls, but gave it years ago to another dog and think I only gave 3mls.
  13. so wrong, yes ,why wasn't he being protected? can they not cut down elephants tusks at the base to stop them being poached, or do they need them to survive?
  14. Not knowing anything about papers etc, but the comment that jumped out was , the parents looked healthy and well fed, that is no indication of health checks being done. I believe pugs, like all breeds have health issues that need testing for, saying she will guarantee the pups health is fine, if you think she will follow thru with it.
  15. I don't see why a Wei wouldn't fit. Its cold where you are, so I would put a coat on in the winter when its outside and a good kennel and bedding. My Wei was outside 24/7,but did have 2 other dogs ,and I work from home. Just watch the bird, mine killed many birds who came into the garden. They are a strong willed dog who need a strong leader. Have you considered a slightly older dog perhaps? You may find a breeder looking to rehome a young adult that might suit if you work a lot could be easier than a pup.
  16. Don't be put off by the price, it includes emails for anything you need to know after, more backup than you would believe and a follow up consult.
  17. I think we all now what the op means by "straight back", no need to be padantic. I had no idea what the proper term was, and would certainly not be as polite if I was looking for a GSD that didn't look like a cripple. The op came here for advice on a breed that's like a minefield, let give them constructive help. :D
  18. There was a young male in the dog park a few months ago, not seen him since.
  19. My BT is food aggressive, first dog in all my fostering that ever did it, bit of a shock when it was me and I walked past her when she had a bone! I called in Steve. I started NILF ,and its worked, however, never any bones in this house and she is fed in the garage.
  20. There is an older guy I often see out walking, he pulled my BT's tail once, then said "she is very tolerant then" You cant reason with stupid!
  21. I would like to have seen the pics of their injuries in the article,so people really understand what happened, they look none the worse for wear in those.( not that I am saying you did a bad job with the article), just brutal pics may have hit home more. People need a wake up call as to how bad it gets.
  22. i'm always amazed too that so many go with no idea what they really do. I think for many its just a fun day out with their dogs. I would never give a cent to that money machine
