i have the same problem when i take my dogs to soccer, kids just run up and start patting them without asking, which is a real pain as i'm trying to watch my daughter play, and i have to stop watching at look at what they are doing last week i only had mase my bully, at half time i took him for a slow amble round the field, i stopped for a minute to watch the play in another match, turned around and this little boy, all of 2 had his arms round mason and face in his. mase loves kids and just stood there, parents no where to be seen its a real pain, as they love comming with me, but its a hassle , especially if i take my dally, he is a kid magnet

i agree cordy, we need to admit that dogs are, were bred for a reason, just as my cattle dog herds everything, even though he is a pet, its what he has beem bred to do. you cannot just disregard their history. i am constantly told by people i have a vicious pitbull,( he is a bt ), and he shouldn't be near kids the tactics need to change, i think ceasar's "daddy" made a great difference to how people think of pits. but they do need lots of socialising, and good owners
-
i learned the hard way years ago( before dol ), when a guy kicked my dally in the side that bounded upto his shnauzer :D just because i know he is friendly, doesn't mean everyone else knows that. now none of mine are allowed to approach anyone they havn't already met offlead, unless the other owner asks.
-
bit blurry, and he's asleep now, so will get more later.
-
i agree too, and i agree about them being inside dogs too, all mine in the uk were however mason has never lived inside, and is happy outside with my crew. he was siezed by council as his owners tried to fight him, and he wouldn't, if a dog gets in his face, even a friendly pup, licking him etc, he try's to bolt for home my other dogs don't bother him, so he is happy here, so is staying :D i found my other bt was never interested in other dogs at all, only another female bt my friend owned, they loved to hoon around togther, apart from that she ignored other dogs and went straight to the human for a pat
-
i would hope they are not a lost cause i really like them, and one is still my kids fav foster just out of interest, what is the situation in the uk these days? i know when i left thy had just been banned, and they just disapeared, idiots started buying rottie's instead

love 14 and 16 lovely looking whippy too

have tried zinc, didn't do anything. i asked the vet about it, he did say i could try mixing something up( forgot what it was, something like meths, but not ) to harden up his pads, but they are already very hard, i suppose its like cracked heels on humans? perhaps i should get something for human cracked heels and see if it works?

big white fan here my dogs live outside, they do have warm coats, 4 kennels on pallets to choose from, all with quilts and sheepskin in. and they are all under cover with barbeque blinds all round, so kinda enclosed alot. i will always take on an older dog now, i am over destructive pups i love bullyt's "baz" too.
-
he has spent alot of his life on concrete i would say, judging by the huge elbow caluses he has i suppose he is on the patio ( concrete), where the dog beds are, or he lies in the kennels, or often on the concrete floor in the garage if its hot.( i have put carpet down now for him :D to be honest ,he doesn't move much allday, moves from one soft bed to another his skin isn't great, flares up with red meat etc, i malasab bath him once a week. he does love going for a walk in the rain though, runs around like a looney
-
thanks, they both look really good, allerziet, do you think yours are softer to wear? i just plod him up the street for 15 mins, he spends most of the time looking around the rest of the day he is asleep on his bed in the sun anne, i will measure his feet when he wakes up, thanks.

mason my old bully has really bad feet, they are splayed anyway, but the pads constantly split and bleed, making it really hard for him just to even go for a little walk i only walk him on the pavement,as rough, or grassy area's make it worse. i have tried using creams, but so far nothing is helping, i tried "mushers secret" from the usa, its a wax for sledge dogs, but still they split and flake away. they are very hard and coarse. so i was wondering about getting boots for him? anyone used them, or know where to get any?
-
i have an old bully, used to have them in the uk too, nothing like them i wouldn't call them smart, stubborn, yes, not like a staffy, who wants to please, bullys want to know whats in in for them i have always found them great with kids, and all of mine have not been at all interested in other dogs.this is the first time i have had a boy bully, and much prefer them if you are interested, there is a young white girl in yagoona rspca, she was adopted from blacktown pound a few weeks ago, but she doesn't like cats, so was surrendered to the rspca :D my boy mason

Helping A Young Kelpie Get Along With An Older Schnauzer
juice replied to je33ie's topic in General Dog Discussion
ok, flame suit on here but it sounds to me as though you are wanting to offload this dog as you have had him too long, so are desperate to place him i wouldn't be putting a full on kepie youngster with an older dog, not fair. when you foster you need to place the dog in a situation that fits all concerned, this doesn't seem to be the case here. the dog will just come back, and the people may not use rescue again if it goes bottom up. one of the reasons i am not fostering youngsters anymore, is i have 2 older dogs of my own now, and they don't want to be jumped on by teenage hoons. please don't push a dog that isn't suitable for the home. if you have had enough of him, ask the rescue group to find another carer, and take a break. -
i think that there are lots of conditions worse than epilepsy that can make life tough for dogs, its just alot of people don't understand epilepsy
-
i only like white bts, or flashy marked brindle/black with lots of white reds and coloureds do nothing for me, and wouldn't get one cattle's, prefer blue. dallys, not much choice but prefer the black greyhounds, brindle and white atm i have a white bt, blue cattle and b/w dally, just need the grey :D
-
like the amstaff and staffy blue's, very rare , not, just another good money making scam shame no one wants a blue grey, lots of them being pts
-
i have stayed with all mine, except one last year, my beautiful wei jed, i had to give him his wings due to aggression, i just couldn't stay, i felt so guilty he sat looking up at me in the waiting room, i just had to hand over his lead and leave, i cried for a long time before i could drive home. something i still feel bad about, cried in the garage last week when i pulled out the dog coats for winter, and his pink one came out first. :D
-
love the last one :D who is the white staffy in your banner add? awesome dog ;)

i understand where you are comming from, when i first came to oz, i got a ridgy x mastiff pup, i also had a 3 yer old daughter, i would walk him for an hour every morning, he had a huge yard, and yet still i would cry when i got home and saw the destruction he would charge upto my daughter and knock her flat on her back, then jump on top of her licking her face, smacking her head to the ground again. i just couldn't deal with a huge looney and a child i rehomed him to a wonderful family whose hubby ran 5 ks every morning, with teenage kids, who had just lost their old ridgy. it was best for all of us i have fostered older dogs, and they are much easier, also a few greys, and they are really gentle around the kids :D
