So sorry it wasn't the outcome you were hoping for, but glad you have an answer and won't be left wondering. RIP Smudge.

Ditto..Very sorry RIP Smudge. He had a wonderful life with you and will be waiting in heaven to see you again one day.

Thank you, everyone, for your condolences. Her loss is very, very hard to bear.

We also have our little 10 year old Chihuahua (her "sister") who is fretting dreadfully. They have been together since eight week old pups.

So hard, because we now know what has happened, but of course Pixie LuluBelle does not. I am giving her lots of love and attention, and she is coming with me in the car whenever I can take her (i.e. if I don't have to stop and park anywhere), but she's still moping. I took her for a walk along the creek today (used to take her with Smudge most days and they loved it), but she wanted to go back home half way through.

I guess only time can heal both our wounds.
